After seeing your videos Andy I finally pulled the trigger and traded in my beloved T-Rex Replica pedal in on the EMPRESS and all I can say is wow, what an awesome delay, it does SO MANY things! I've found wonderful settings in only about an hour of twirling the knobs and I know I'll find many more wonderful effects. I unloaded an original acoustic instrumental using this pedal in a "reverse" mode and the repeats are an octave up where it seems there is a great keyboard part playing with me. :-)
how does it compare to tc electronics nova, korg sdd3000 (I own), or other delays. I'm about to buy 2 vox ac15h1tv or 1 ac15h1tv and a marshall or fender and run stereo. Which do you recommend for U2, radiohead, Audioslave type stuff. 2 different amps or 2 same? What pedals? Ibanez af2, DBS soundwave breakdown, fulltone etc. I'm going going for warm, realistic echos/delays. Want as simple of a set up as possible in stereo to play bands I mentioned but also a little heavier stuff. h vs cc?
Will one of my pedal boards 9 volt adapter Boss style center negative cables from my Modtone power supply power this pedal? I read something about a 12 volt power supply for the Empress so I just want to make sure that it will work.
I've been playing before the wind and before the snow like sir pyscho and this is the best digital delay pedal I've ever heard and thats just from a youtube vid! I've heard them all. I have a line 6 presently which I thought was my last delay pedal. History repeats itselfI guess not I will be looking for this pedal when the quid permits.
does anybody else feel that Edge-esque delay's are not this pedals forte? I find it really doesn't fit that bright, crystal clear delay sound. Edge uses digital rackmount delays, so decay doesn't really fit the tone. still a damn good sounding pedal though.
@JIMMYJIBLETS It can sound bright and clear on other modes besides tape. Take a listen to the stock Superdelay demo. Don't forget the Edge used an Analog Memory Man for all that classic U2 stuff, and those are pretty dark.
Cool! I got on their email list so hopefully I will get a chance to order before they sell out again. I considered the Skreddy Echo also. Tough decision really, but I don't know if I will even be alive in 5 months which is the waiting waiting time for a Skreddy. :p
I love modulated delay, too. I own the original Superdelay and love it but would probably buy this one if the PGS mods were available as an additional MODE. I think the tape mode on the original is excellent and wouldn't want to give it up!
U2! This is a good delay but its too expensive for me. Andy, I think not only are you by far the best demoer on youtube, but actually a top notch guitar player. All of these videos are well produced, well played, and definitely deserve more views.
I agree... I always look forward to these... Great way to learn about the array of amazing boutique pedals, guitars, and amps out there... as well as popular old faithful effects too. Andy seems to be able to play any style... Sometimes it's scary how close he gets to certain famous tones. Great production quality and the videos are getting better all the time!!!! I watch everyone (with the exceptions of guitar reviews, because I am set on my axes).
Phew, I think this is it after a long long search for a great delay pedalbox. This is the new goal...not going for the DL4 Line 6 after all.

What kind of expression pedal are you using in the first part?

What kind of legacy model is that G&L? I really like the headstock matching the bodycolor.

@ProGuitarShopDemos
I'll second that. 100% a Memory Man on that and early records...
mikeygenao 1 year ago
@JIMMYJIBLETS Alot of the edges sound comes from the deluxe memory man, he runs digital delays as a second delay (he uses two at a time)
The EHX Deluxe Memory Man distorts easily because you often overload it, that's the sound you're looking for. It distorts somewhat when overloaded.

I'm not too sure about the mods. They seem take away some of the shimmer and top end...
As for the extra modulation added to the custom one, you can kinda get the same feel with a touch of phase
hyperboogie 2 years ago
haha believe it or not they take away the "Edge" (in terms of eq) hahaa

Any update on when this delay is available? IMO, they should do another 50 unit production run.
