This is natural behavior. I watched three cheetah brothers sitting on a Land Rover. Eventually they left and killed a baby gazelle. We watched them devour this kill, sharing it very peacefully - no snarling and snapping as would be the case with other big cats. They are my favorite wild cats - truly lovely.

Well - then listen and watch carefully - most of it came from the tourists. Cheetahs are such beautiful cats, they should have been absolutely silent facing a wild cheetah giving them the honour to come that close (at least I would have been)

Cheetahs are wild animals, all wild animals are dangerous. Now, that said, cheetahs are more tolerant of humans than most big cats are because we are twice their size, a cheetah would no more go after us than it would a full grown lion. If we were a threat to their cubs, maybe, but otherwise no. Cheetahs are dangerous, they just won't pick a fight with us unless they know they can win, which most cheetahs don't. And if you ever try to mess with one, I will laugh my ass off at you.

The cheetahs love to hop on top of cars and vans simply to have a vantage point to see prey and also to be alerted to preditors such as lions, hyenas, baboons. The cheetah is the friendliest of all big cats and ones that are not likely to fight anyone unless they are protecting territory or young cubs. The Cheetah is a remarkable animal and I am very happy for the Japanese tourists who got such a great close-up. Most people can only see such beauty in a magazine or in a zoo.

The last Cheetah I saw that jumped up on open vent on car peed on everyone. The people in the car were Brits and didn't mind the loved seeing the beautiful animal up close.
