Siouxsie in no way could be considered a racist, let alone a fascist unless one is an imbecile. Would you consider her a Christian because she performed to the Lord's Prayer while bare breasted and wearing that swastika?
@highschoolmusical841 NO jooooo not understands. The new man is here! Is that not enough for you? I tell you I have seen the new man, he was intrepid and cruel, I was afraid of him!!!!!!
@highschoolmusical841 Yeah I guess the Banshees were living in their own little arty bubble where they thought they could do anything, unfortunately real life politics had to come along and ruin it. Souxie still gets questioned about it to this day, much to her annoyance.
as a punk rocker, as a black girl I fucking hate that sign, its disgusting and it represents evil racist intention. But i cant shake her reason for wearing it, it was for shock value, gotta turn a blind eye and agree to disagree because Im not going to stop thinking she fucking rocks.
i know what she is talking about - she liked the swastika. she wasnt naive enough to know that it would stir some controversy! come on now! "they seem to think we're some kind of fascists". well, they dont think you are the jonas brothers when Sioux has swastika arm bands on. i always enjoyed snotty 70s punk attitude, though, from them, the pistols....
@blackmore4 they were clean that's why they were boring...I don't get the svazxtika and will never get why pinks in Loundon had to wear it. I understand the level of provocation but why not burn a bus depot or do the old biddies over...pointless shit...
@PoireauMan68 well to hear sioux talk about it,it was done out of pure irony....almost as if she was mocking the culture's obsession with that symbol. the skinheads,that is. and then you hear about the story surrounding hong kong garden---the incident that inspired that song and you get where she's coming from. of course,others took it literally and really did display a lot of hatred. for her it was just a big f-you to the same culture that they quite often lumped together with.

severin... that's a cool name
anguaa 1 year ago
@anguaa Yeah! Wikipedia says:
Steven Severin (born Steven John Bailey , 25 September 1955, London) etc, etc...
He took the name "Severin", from the Leopold von Sacher-Masoch character that is the subject of the Velvet Underground song "Venus in Furs".
That's what I thought: that it had something to do with the Velvets. :)

@PoireauMan68 Wearing a sign isn't the same as attacking someone, I think a better question is why do people make such a big fuss about the sign?
