Hey Mark! I always enjoy watching your videos! Can you upload a video showing how to add a global boost for solos using the AXE FX? I own one and can't seem to get a clean solo boost that doesn't alter the original tone I'm using! Thanks!
@vitalizer1000 Never said I was versatile. I see you joined on Sept 4 to start the hate rants, bye, bye again. Cya. Get a job or something or at least post a video to your own supreme awesomeness. Take a trip to the South Pole and stay outside for the winter perhaps.
Im on the waiting list! I have a 5150III and a Marshall Vintage/Modern mixed with some Lexicon and a Rocktron Xpression also a Sonic Maximizer. Two EVH Cabs) I think still Modeling feels different than the real thing but the sound is a Blast!! I wan tthis unit for it's effects and then to record with my computer too. Won't need nothing else!
Thanks for showing us this! What amp patch is this?
I've yet to see a demo with a Suhr guitar that didn't sound killer. The Ax FX obviously is part of the equation too, but if you had to pick one or the other, would you keep the Suhr or the Ax FX?
Hey I need help getting those pinch harmonics down. Like the ones you don't use the metal part of the fret for. I'm really close I just can't seem to get it to sound perfect.
Dude - you rock. Don't mind the haters. It's easy for them to throw rocks when they're not doing anything. I love your vids and you're a great player.
Dude!! Your tone is monsterous!! I gotta get me an Axe Fx. I tracked with it once at a studio. Just a glorious sound. The thing I noticed the most is that it seems to really capture the brightness and the overtones of the strings... as opposed to just reintegrating the frequencies.... Does that make any sense? The nuances and the overtones of the instrument... Just love it! You make it sound great.
@BoogieEngineer I guessed you missed the description where I said I knew I screwed up the intro. The backing track's click got messed up. Please show us how it's done :)
@samhillband I love it:) You did just fine and it did sound just a bit out of sync not that your playing was bad - I love your videos and choice of music. The guitar is great as is your tone. Keep it up. I appreciated it even if not everyone else dose.

@PortalRealm Not a plugin. The AxeFx has two low imp outputs (3pin) and I plug that into the Digi003 or a mic preamp. Just like I would with a microphone or direct box or a line out from an amp.
Great song and great Playing......So you are tuned half step down? are all the songs you play in Half step down on the original Artist? or what do you do because i see that you almost always use your Biutiful Suhr and rarely play another one,.. i know Van Halen is Half step down on many songs (i dont know if on every song) but how about the other band songs you play?
My Suhr is tuned 1/2 step down. I play the songs in the basic positions as the originals. Some of the original recordings were 1/2 step down and others are A=440hz.
If I use my LP or PRS some songs I've down are regular tuning and some are 1/2 step down.
your faces are priceless.. I make the same ones when jamming and messing up haha.. awesome.. can't wait to get my axe fx ultra.. thats gonna be a minute though..
just blew my wad on my brand spanking new Ibanez RGD 2127z Prestige with blackouts :D.. and Michael Amott Zoom pedal :D
@samhillband hey Mark, a suggestion, could you provide the setting you are using in your videos ie; name of the patch or pre set on the axe fx, that would be very helpful, keep rockin bro.
Holy crap! That's the best digital sim I've heard that sounds worthwhile. I stumbled on your demo while researching an Eleven Rack and I'm blown away by how much better this sounded. Does the AxeFx have software that allows you to tweak it like the Eleven? All I can say is 'Wow!' I'm just blown away. Great tone and REALLY great playing. Too bad you're not in Milwaukee. I'd sign up for lessons in heartbeat. You should consider video lessons by subscription. Just...Wow. Nice job, man.
Damn dude, that tone is killer, and the playing helps it along as well. Timing, well, you werent rehearsing to replace Eddie, so, I dont think the timing was an issue as this point. lol
Hey mark... thinking of getting an axe fx.. Do you think the standard would be fine for me... I'm not really to into effects at all and I just want a banging good rhythm and lead tone.
how much do you want for that patch? wow it sounds amazing. I have been trying with a Van Halen patch for two months now and no joy, at least not like that!
@samhillband i got it sorted in the end thanks mate.
I got your preset and it rocks but you have your own global settings I have the sys file but no idea how to amalgamate that into my preset on the axe.!
@samhillband i got it sorted in the end thanks mate.
I got your preset and it rocks but you have your own global settings I have the sys file but no idea how to amalgamate that into my preset on the axe.!
Great cover! Your playing is really tight, which is great, and your tone is rockin' too... cut back on the bass, boost the mids alot and the treble a little and you should be pretty close to the "eddie" tone! Rock on!
Of course it's not "as good" as the real amp, but then again you have access to hundreds of different tones, to reproduce that with the real amp would require you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars.
It's a tool, like any other musical device, it's not meant to replace EVERYTHING, instead it's supposed to do a job, which it does better than anything else on the market.
All you guys want to argue... But if you didn't know this guy wasn't playin' an Axe FX you would be asking... What kind of AMP are you using.. You Tube Snobs would never be able to tell the difference via Youtube or in a real setting... sorry..
I have a question about the Edirol recorder. Is that what is recording the guitar tone from the cabinets and it's all the way across the room, or do you record the ambient, room volume with the Edirol and also record the cabs with a mic and mix the two together? Just wondering because it sounds great and I am just curious. The Edirol seems like an expensive version of that Zoom recorder with the condenser mics on it. Great tones as always man. Thanks.
you mean on a recording or in person? i had the axefx for almost 2 years. in person, a real marshall or mesa head through a cab blows the axefx away. ive heard lots of clips where line 6 stuff sounds just as good as, sometimes better than the axefx. the thing really isnt all its cracked up to be IMO
And you're certainly entitled to your opinion - I just think it worth noting that pros from Lincoln Brewster, Hadley, Pete Thorn, Greg Howe to Dweezil Zappa beg to differ. I understand that your experience differed from the norm, but don't imply that the pros are simply confused or compromised.
my opinion not the norm? you make it sound like the majority of pros are using the axefx instead of a real amp!!
id bet that if 95% of the pros out there tried the axefx live compared to a real amp, theyd pick the tube amp. really, are you trying to say that the axe actually equals a real amp in a live situation? please tell me youre not. yeah so a handful of guys are using the thing, i bet its for other reasons that make it an acceptable tradeoff to a real amp, but it aint the tone!
Out on a limb but I'll agree with you in this case. Did a gig with 4 bands. I had an axe fx w/ Vht power amp w 1960A cab. My tone was good. The next bands had Roadkings, 2203, and an Einstein Deizel. My Axe fx was good. Since I sat back to watch the other bands, their stage amps were much better. I used to think Axe fx was as good, but not after that gig.
Mark, why oh why did you have to post this...and torment me!? I have nothing but a PODxt to play into right now, that AxeFX rig is DISGUSTINGLY good, especially on my favorite song to play when I just want to "ease the seat back" and relax...
