  • I have been so blessed to be part of this series! This video was shot in December 1999 at the Hanging Gardens in Mumbai.

  • This video made me want to close Youtube and play my dholak . So guys, please excuse me.

  • This is so crazy. I don't know why I never leaned any sort of classical music. I always loved this, yet I never learned it. Damn it!

  • wearing dresss is not important.....basuri player is wearing typical middle class dress

  • Who is the bansuri player?

    He's sooooooooo good

  • LOL, I liked the way Zakir Ji used thabla bols in dialogues (from 0.40 - 0.48). So the next time I see my thabla teacher... Kaisi hai ap? Dha tirikit dha! ALSO, I may be wrong, but the place where the video was shot at looks like Golmadhan (Mumbai, near Ulhasnagar).

  • great master <3

  • religious is fundamental thing if any body does well in any trend every one will ask him about his every kind of function every one will try to know about his or her more and more they become their follower, many examples are there when people change their religion due to the inspiration of a person,

  • awesome vatapi ganapatim rendition...

  • Ustad Zakir Zussain is Great...

  • All string attached with music .... what else... this is ... HEAVEN....

  • lol - you can tell that this video is old, like early 90s or something from the casio "calculator" watc the bansuri player is wearing. Oter than the fact that Zakir-jee himself looks quite young.

  • This is a purely spiritual experience. Thanks a million for the upload punjabiprinze. I really appreciate it.

  • the tabla sitting in the back is Aditya Kalyanpur?

  • yes man he is aditya...

  • zakir is amir khusro reborn...

  • Is this religious in any way?

  • nope... not religious in any way...

  • It Can be religious... if you play at the Mandir... Gudwara... playing along with Bhajans or Kirtans!

  • It is kind of religious because Raags were made by Guru's .... and which they do their 'bandish' in ...

  • Raags were made even before the gurus!!!

  • Its more spiritual than religious..

Religion iseperates us, its divides us from the source to "hindhus, muslims, sikhs..etc"

I say its more Spiritual becuase music isnt based on what colour you are or where you live, its for everyone. Bit like him upstairs hes for us all we are all for him not for muslims, hindus, sikhs.

  • even the others are great...

  • He came to Knoxville, TN. and did a performance and gave a clinic to the percussion students here at UT knoxville. Simply Amazing!!

  • Come again what happened in Tennessee thanxs

  • The best tabla is slow and meaningful, though fast is nice sometimes too.

  • Not only tabla but most things in life. Shame we live in a society getting faster and faster.

  • wonderful, just wonderful from start to end

  • you rock

  • yup thats right

  • I really appreciate Zakir's efforts to bring South Indian Carnatic music to the front. He even praised mridangam wizard Palghat Raghu as the one who 'opened his eyes to world of laya' in an interview.

  • someone is wearing a stone cold shirt.

  • who?

  • 2:00, the guy on the right

  • Oh yes! Now i see it. But Austin is long gone from WWE now.

  • IS THIS SONG TECHNICALLY A RAGA? WHATEVER IT IS, WHICH SONG IS IT? I'M IN LOVE WITH IT! PLEASE TELL ME..

Oh sorry im speaking of the one at the end with the singer and violinist and three student drummers... you know which one i'm talking about... please find out!

  • A raga is a melodic form, which consists a specialized upward and downward scale, with characteristic phrases and notes known as the king and queen of notes. A song can be based off a raga. The singer from the previous clip, the sarangi pieces, the flute pieces, and the vocal pieces are all based off of ragas.

  • The song that you refer to is "vatapi ganapati bhajeham" by famous Carnatic composer Mutuswami Diksitar.
