To be honest: Jay has the best monologues, so so segments, and I don't bother sitting through most of his guests.

Conan was awesome at 12:30, he was able to do more risque bits (i.e. Masturbating Bear & Triumph) and had a concentrated fanbase/audience. Conan however; fell through the hole at 11:30. At that point,he clearly lost his element (weak monologues & segments) which also lost a lot of his followers. It was a sad and dismal ending in my opinion.

PT 4 He really isn't any better than Leno. It's downright pathetic to watch him desperately scramble for laughs and fail anyway. As much as you seem to despise Leno, give him props for professionalism and having jokes which work, albeit a bit on the shallow side, 90$ of the time. Your so liberal? Consider that Leno is about as compromised as anyone else on at that time slot and doing a damn good job of it. He got his job back because Conan wasn't cutting the mustard. So stop hating on hm.

PT 3 And his delivery can make the worst jokes more than tolerable. To repeat: it is not easy doing what he does. As for Conan, well a year later look at him. He too has been a victim of the near prime time slot, having to cut out his edgy post modern comedy routines. I watch him from time to time and he belly flops almost always. Using self-effacement as a means to redeem his haklf-ass monologues. Even the staunchest subscribers to his style wouldn't argue that his monoglues seriously lack.

PT 3 Like it should be any of your business. i'm sure he makes what any movie star or professional athlete makes. It doesn't matter to me. It's none of my business. Be real 'liberals' and show the man some respect. Just because some jealous comedian, who shares your political views, is coming down on him doesn't mean you have to get all into the team spirit and go so so far as to wish death upon the man. sure his jokes aren't al;ways that funny, but most of them are funny enough.

PT 2 My father is dyin g and every night Leno'sspirit puts a smile on my face. That is enough. I especially enjoy his oddball newspaper clippings and weird gadgets/toys. Many people take for granted that his delivery is always spot on and esteem his interviews so low you'd think he's a complete louse as anj interviewer. Not so. He's actually pretty engaged and people don't give him enough credit for that. what i sense is that a lot of you so -called 'liberals' are jealous of the money he makes.

Conan's ratings, within the important 18-49 year old demo were always pretty steady, and didn't begin to really take a plunge until Jay Leno became his lead in.

People don't realize that Letterman had better ratings than Leno until Leno got to interview Hugh Grant after he had cheated on Elizabeth Hurley with a prostitute. That was 3 or 4 years after he had taken over the Tonight show. Conan only got seven months on the tonight show, how can he build on audience with so little time.
