So, I guess when someone makes the claim that Stanley Jordan has more talent in his right index finger than most guitarists - they mean it literally! A rare talent indeed - awesome.
@MrStudley3 hehe welcome to the world of jazz/fusion ;) They are totally different though! Petrucci is a speedfreak, used to be good, but he's not a good improviser. You might like Andy Timmons, Greg Howe, Pat Metheny or Guthrie Govan as well! Stanley Jordan is however a rare talent, in a class of his own, schooling all of us whenever he's playing! Amazing talent.
@2009Denisem wow i love this! this is so awesome and a beautiful jam on this beautiful morning from a beautiful lady thanks :-) and thanks to the uploader fostex0160 for posting this gem!!!
Wow i had heard this version ever since i was younger but i had no clue that Stanley Jordan did it. As if i wasnt already blown away from his music before.
Thank you fostexD160 for posting this video and thank you LOVEMESOMEMICHAEL for sharing this video as a favorite. How exciting it would have been to be in attendance at Stanley Jordan's concert. He and his band are overflowing with musical excellence."Lady in my life" is such a lovely and moving song. It's a joy to see this live performance!
Larry Riddley youes to spot him at his free concerts at Rutgers during the late 70's. dudes such as Dizzy, Frank Foster, Johnny Griffin, the Heath bros., etc, etc. would pop up all the time. just a gas. great groove man.

The bass player is Yossi Fine, look him up.
He usually plays a "Vigier" (same make as Stanley) but I don't think he did for that show.
I think a lot of the low end got lost over the tape this was recorded on and over digital conversion.
