  • how did this video get 18 thousand veiws

  • @DundeeMcLoven It's amazing what you can find on YouTube, eh?

  • dont worry the folks at john bridge forum told you the correct way, most non updated type shower installers use the old vinyl method and dont realize kerdi is just as waterproof as any vinyl JMHO>Marvin

  • @meticulum re: "blah, blah, blah......show the finished job"

The link to the finished job is in the description.

  • first mistake... your supposed to line the shower with aquabar and THEN lath it. second mistake... you dont use playsand in your drypack mix. you buy special drypack already in a bag. most critical mistake... you need to waterproof your shower floor by installing a vinal plastic sheeting under the lath!

  • @xz28camaro -- Schluter's KERDI shower system is very different from the traditional vinyl waterproofing done for showers, as you may or may not know. We followed the manufacturer's directions during installation, and found a *lot* of useful info over at the johnbridge website, as they use KERDI. We didn't have the option of using a commercial deck mud mix, so we used a recommended alternative. I guess we'll find out how well we did waterproofing over the next 20 years.

  • @MystyTheBasset yeah its a really wierd set up. it looks like a system a caveman would comeup with. how did the tile or stone come out?

  • @xz28camaro -- We're really happy with how it's turned out! I've linked both videos as responses to each other, and I've just added the link to the second video in the description for the first video clip. (Turns out you can't mention web addy's in comments, so I can't link it here!) Or, you can browse thru my uploaded videos and find it there)

  • cute video.

what did the finished job look like ?

  • ....we're still waiting on the wall panels. We were told 6-8 weeks when we ordered them......now at 12 weeks. *Hoping* to get them next week, as the entire bathroom reno has been stalled for 3 weeks now.

  • @ceramictec -- sorry for the rather late reply -- I had tried to respond before, but youtube rejected it as I tried to link the video in the comment -- you can't mention web addy's in comments. We're really happy with how it's turned out! I've linked both videos as responses to each other, and I've just added the link to the second video in the description for the first video clip.
