  • Where are the rescued animals at now?? i had read that the mans wife as trying to get custody of them, but she was denied in court (so glad the judge refused to let her have them) but thats the last i had heard of what had happened to these rescued animals. Are they still at the columbus zoo, or were they transfrerred to other zoos?? im an animal lover and was wanting to know how the rescued animals were doing.

  • @horseangel37 there still there :)

  • @sadistkangel - many animals have died while under the care of the Thompsons. They probabily sold some as well. They were charged with animal abuse because they had improperly disposed of animal corpses on their property. There were 56 dangerous animals...none that were not- 6 survived...its not a conspiracy.

  • This is an OK video.

  • What a tragedy this is.....Im so happy to hear at least some of the animals will now have a better life.

  • Keep in mind, these were NOT regular black bears. They are/were EXOTIC there is a difference, y'all need to educate yourselves on EXOTIC animals.

  • Oops that was exotic animals, not just bears blame the asshole for letting them loose. Not jungle jack or the sheriff or whatever. They were protecting HUMANS, there were certain circumstances involved that made it really hard to trap them and sedate them so before u pass judgement know the facts. what would u do if one of these powerful animals showed up at your door and tried to attack u or one of ur kids?

  • @sadistkangel The big cats had to be killed - they WERE too big a risk. But, what happened to the camel and giraffe which CNN reported also resided on that farm? I also heard something about a donkey, too? What happened to those horrible man-eating herbivores??!! There were a total of 50 animals killed, and the only ones revealed to the public were the lions, tigers, bears and a baboon. That doesn't total 50 animals. I'm called uneducated and ignorant for not following along and asking WHY??

  • they forgot they KILLED 48 animals and "rescued" only these few animals because it was "dangerous" to use tranquilizing guns

  • Im so gratful to the columbus zoo for helping in the care of whats left from the tradgedy in ohio. I cant tell you how upset the death of 18 beautiful tigers has made me.

  • @NoTagNamesLeft Nice retort. Im guessing 17 yrs old.

  • @smith288 Wrong guess

  • @NoTagNamesLeft Then stop acting like one.

  • @smith288 I Don't know what your talking about

  • hope it is a win-win situation, the zoo could become more famous because of these animals and these animals could be settled down and have a home.

  • Thank you, you wonderful people at Columbus Zoo for coming to the aid of these animals who had no say in their past habitat. I have visited the Columbus Zoo (I live in NH) and know these animals are so fortunate to be with you there under your care. Thank you.

  • Thank you for taking care of these survivors. What a terrible, tragic situation.

  • I live in Zanesville..and it was crazy, I live about 2 miles from the residence and my school allowed children (like myself) to attend school. I feel horrible for the 30-50 animals that were put down. Thank you for rescuing as many as possible. I have a couple of questions though:

    1- How many animals escaped? ( i heard 48 and 55)

2- Are the animals staying at the columbus zoo? Thank you staff who risked their lives for people like me :)

  • That bear ate those banana chips so quick! What a cutie.

  • If it were not for the Columbus Zoo these rescued animals might not have a chance. Makes me mad that anyone can go out and BUY EXOTIC ANIMALS ANYWAY. There must be a law against this stuff because the Animals pay the price and it's not right!

  • @loveacat25 You're so right. Its sad taking them out of their natural habitat, putting them in the back yard, then letting them out only so they can be shot to death. I bet Steve Irwin is rolling in his grave. God Bless those beautiful creatures, I wish them a happier life in Animal Heaven.

  • @proxysaurusrex Ugh... ignorant.

  • Jack Hanna, you are a saint. What a terrible, barbaric act and you provided a ray of hope. Thank you Columbus Zoo staff. Thank you for your dedication.

  • I love and admire Jack Hanna, however his appearance on TV with all these animals being held and cuddled has been a major injustice to these creatures. They are wild, not to be cuddled or housed.......this is what happens when we do not understand...now many beautiful animals dead in Ohio....Educate our world, these animals are WILD...and they are not at fault for being that.

  • Thank You for saving these animals.... I just have to ask...How is it that you did not know about this lunatic and these animals before hand, and if you did, why were they not taken away from him before this tragic event??? When will we ever learn to act before these things happen instead of after???

  • @proxysaurusrex I would think the animal care staff at the Columbus Zoo, the number one zoo in America, would have a little bit of a better idea than you on animals that are considered dangerous and what's not.. Just saying.

  • Thank you Jack Hanna, Columbus Zoo and the Wilds. Let's get behind legislation so this type of sa story is not repeated.

  • What about the 49 other animals that were killed ? Why couldnt they be saved too?? Im grateful for the the 6 they saved but why only 6??????

  • @shaicat69 Educate yourself as to why. Jack Hannah has said numerous times as to why.

  • @smith288 Educate yourself! Black bears are natural wildlife in Ohio and a protected species. They don't attack humans and eat mostly berries, seeds and nuts. That poor black bear was probably lumbering about exploring his freedom, not threatening anyone, and the police shot him, most likely in the side of his torso, for not good reason other than he was loose! No matter what Jack says publicly, the black bear shouldn't have been killed. A wild black bear would've been treated more fairly!

  • @mideeone I live in Columbus and know all about the wild life. So some anonymous bear lover on youtube has a better hold on how to handle wild animals than a guy named "jungle jack" and runs one of the top zoos in America if not the world. Mmkay

Black bears are NOT known for inhabiting Ohio. They are found as close as the mountains in Pennsylvania but not any sort of numbers in Ohio. If they are in a strange area, they will gravitate towards human activity and become aggressive to find food.

  • @smith288 I live 30 minutes from this area and at least twice in the past year has a black bear been seen in my town.

  • @MsAllie987 Mmmkay, I also live 30 min away and have never seen one Black bear in my entire life. We also camp in places such as Bark Camp as well as other mountainous places and nowhere is it stated to beware of black bears. Its a rare animal in Ohio. Not unheard of, but most region maps of where the black bear lives that I have found never puts it in any sort of numbers in Ohio. Consider yourself lucky to see 2.

  • The most recent number I have seen is 64 confirmed. That is hardly a population.

  • @smith288 these were not left out in the wild. There is a difference, this man let these exotic bears go free. Plus it was thunderstorming that night, the animals were already freaked out. If u had a bear or a mountain lion showin up at ya backdoor, then i guess ya would know what to do eh?

  • @shaicat69 I'm wondering if many had already been shot when Jack and his team arrived to help? I'm searching for a good reason for the black bears to have been gunned down. They are not a dangerous wild animal.

  • Thank you for taking these six beautiful wild animals in, and thank you to Jack and his team, area veterinarians, for helping to save them. Onward, to much better habitats for them, and new laws that stop the auction and hoarding of wild animals. But, I still wonder why did the officers shot the black bears? They were not dangerous and could have been saved, too! That was so wrong! :(

  • @RSwizard101vids They think the monkey was eaten by one of the big cats.

  • Thank you for taking care of them...may all who are angry at whoever, take the anger and be part of a positive change and write your elected officials about licensing of exotic animals, make sure they have funds, adequate land and facilities to care for the mental health and well-being of the animals, frequent inspections AND ABOLISH all wildlife auctions. We can't change what happen but we can help change what happens in the future. Use your words and voice for good not hate.

  • Thank you Columbus Zoo for taking in these precious animals. It would have been wonderful if more animals could have been saved, but I am thrilled that these precious lives were spared. It's great to see compassion on behalf of these 6 animals.

  • THANK YOU Columbus Zoo!! So glad that in the midst of this devastating tragedy and loss, there are six bright spots. And thank you so much for posting this and letting us see the rescued animals.

  • thank you Jack Hanna (& Zoo).. please run for President

  • @ least a few have been saved! hats off columbus zoo :)

  • Thank God for the Columbus Zoo rescuing these animals. What about the other 30 odd animals? TRAGIC!!!!

  • So glad this handful of creatures were saved, I only wish the authority who allowed these animals to be kept captive, had some kind of procedure set in place in the event of escape.. one that protected the people & the animals.

Who ever allowed that man to keep these animals, should be held accountable for the deaths of all those beautiful creatures who were killed.

Ideally these creatures should be free, failing that, the best they can have. Thank you for helping them in the immediate.

  • @2manylost

The unfortunate thing is this person had all permits and licensing that is needed to have exotic animals in Ohio, so the law couldn't do anything. That is why Jack Hannah and several others are trying to get the laws changed so people can't have these types of facilities with exotic animals without inspections of the facilities and higher permits costs that will help elevate just anyone from getting these exotics.

  • @kvaughn27 Thanks for the info. If there are any petitions going to help change the law, then please can you message me the details & I will cross post, to help prevent this tragedy from happening again. :)

  • Thank you for managing to rescue a few of these animals. The situation was extreme and many animals had to be killed. This will be a far better life for the animals that could be saved.

  • Thank you Columbus Zoo!!!! So grateful at least some of the animals were saved - wish it could've been more.

  • @NoTagNamesLeft they are saying if they tranquilize them amd the run and then wake up somewhere by people, the repricussions(sp) could be dramatic.

  • @NoTagNamesLeft THEY CANT TRANQ animals like that without knowing dosage before hand plus needing to trail them 30-45 min later when they finally fall sleep. If they lose track, the animal may get discovered by a person and get attacked... geez this has been repeated ad nauseam...

Man are people lacking listening and simple research skills.

  • @Columbuszoomedia

Saw that Jack Hanna was very torn over the death of the 18 Bangle Tigers in the press release yesterday it is very sad but i am glad they managed to save some of the animals from that place and brought them to the zoo

BTW did they ever find that monkey?

  • Its nice that at least some could be saved, I live close to where they got loose so its good that its all over. Its a shame more couldn't be saved.

  • Thank you Jack Hanna and the Columbus Zoo. We live too close to the scene and realy feared for our safety and the safety of our animals and our neighbor's animals. This was so tragic but the blame should be on the man allowed to keep (and abuse) these animals and the Ohio legislature and Gov for not stopping it. Protect these gorgeous creatures! We are so saddened by the loss of these animals but so grateful there was no human tragedy.

  • Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! You are soooo wonderful to take these frightened animals in. They must be so scared and confused. I wish they all could have been rescued, but I am greateful for the ones that were rescued and now in your care. God Bless All of you!

  • Thank you Columbus Zoo for taking care of these animals. It was VERY generous of you to extend a hand to these animals in need. May these animals flourish under your care.

  • Thank You for saving some of them!! I could see the hurt on Jack Hanna's face yesterday! Hopefully these animals will find a Wonderful home at our zoo!

  • Thank you Columbus Zoo. I wish more of them could've been saved, of course, but I'm glad you were able to rescue at least some of them and are giving them the care they need.

  • Thank you Columbus Zoo!!!! I know yesterday was hard - I could see it on the faces of everyone!! At least these babies will get to see a new day!

  • Thank you Columbus zoo!!!
