I use wax but it doesn't hold all day so after I do the wax would it be okay for me to use hair spray to help it hold more or will it just look bad if I do that?

I would think all he would need for this style is a large barrel brush, Blow dryer, gel, Texture wax spray, pomade, and hairspray for this.

Put gel into damp hair. Dry with blow dryer with round barrel brush combing sections back like the front of the hair. Spray texture wax and work in to near scalp, almost giving a tease to the hair to give volume and hold. Use light amount of pomade and apply to ends twisting. Then set with high hold freezing hairspray.

That's what I would do.
