Yeah, it does have almost the exact same engine; they rewrote their engine for skyrim, and morrowind's engine was different from daggerfall's, but oblivion and morrowind use one thats pretty much identica. Thats why with mods (like the many overhaul mods) you can make it almost look like oblivion

i miss morrowind because

#1: I think it has a bigger world (if it doesnt then it feels like it does, atleast with bloodmoon)

#2: The music owns oblivion's music, which is actually why i replaced all of oblivion's music files with morrowind's XD

@hatefuIIkat Please reconsider. Take a look at some other videos before you dismiss Morrowind's graphics. Just as you say, this particular one does look very much like WoW, but this vid is a perfect storm of all the worst visual elements of Morrowind. The architecture in at least two major Morrowind cities has never been equalled

Note: Dark Age of Camelot took this same engine and made better grass. But their trees and flowers were worse, albeit taking less RAM

@1togetready No. When morrowind was released, it was called Netimmerse. Now it is true that Gamebyro is the next version of Netimmerse, but that does not mean that they are capable of the same thing.

Morrowind's uses an earlier version of Oblivion's engine... but that does not mean you can get the Oblivion effects in Morroiwnd's engine.

To say that its the "Same engine as Oblivion" is wrong. Its similar, but very different.

Morrowind Graphics Extender bypasses the game engine altogether.

@MNICY Yea im familiar with the previous name, but in a direct interview with todd stewart he himself said that "we've been using the same engine for the past nine years" after he was asked about what engine they would use for skyrim, which (also disclosed by him) will not be using the same engine as oblivion but a new one altogether. i didnt mean exactly the same engine, how would they make improvements without altering the engine? Basically oblivion's engine is morrowind's with improvements

To say that Morrowind and Oblivion have the same engine would be like saying that Windows 95 and Windows 7 are the same OS.
