  • can the wireless n routers be changed to support wireless g adapters, like the wireless adapter for the xbox?

  • huthutdudeman42,

Almost all Wireless-N routers will be backwards compatible with all previous protocols in their frequency. (i.e. B/G/N)

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • your sexy,

oh and hey nice video :D

You're more thorough than most geeks on youtube trying to make a name for themselves.

Instead of just showing off the hardware you're reviewing you actually break things down into chat that even the "non-uber geek" can understand.

    Good Job. :)

  • when you say Draft-N can be upgraded, you mean a hardware or software upgrade? and how will it likely be upgraded? thanks

  • meowmix0901,

That depends on what they settle on when they FINALLY finish the N standard. For some hardware it will be a simple firmware update. For other gear it will not be possible with the radios built into the device.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • here its going some time in mid-late 09'

  • FRtrain4750,

Well I would like to see it before I believe it! :) -- They've been promising us the N standard for the better part of three years now.

    .

    Peace,

    Fr. Robert

  • very nice vedio thanx man

  • hi i have a Linksys wireless G. now if i got this and hooked it up with an eathernet cable or wireless setup to Xbox live. would there be a difference from G?

  • MadVirus5000,

That depends on a number of factors, the biggest being if your current network is congested. If it is, the the QoS features will make a big difference. Peace, Fr. Robert

  • 127.0.0.1 means HOME or its the defult ip adress for your computer. i know this cuz a game called moparscape

  • I know that t-shirt meaning, but.. hell I'm not going to buy it. Do you have 'cool' t-shirt about IT that not too geeky.. ?

  • I just bought the Belkin N1 Wireless Router and this thing was easy to set up and there was a dramatic difference in speed. I used to use Wireless G but the Belkin Router is much faster. Incredibly easy to set up and well worth the price.

  • can u set up xbox live with?

Can u set it up with a wireless adaptor?

it doesn't matter if u dont no its just im askin around.

    thnks.

  • Yes to all questions.

  • cool r u sure?

    thanks mate.

  • Well I can't say Belkin's good because on the package it says easy instalation but I have a router, a wl print server and a wl access point and I havent been able to get them setup, can U make a video on how to install them (I can't take the security Off of the router)

    Help Please!!!

  • Hiya... We are trying to put together a series of "how to" episodes for 'gadget' workshop -- We're REALLY backlogged, but I promise to get it out ASAP. Peace, Fr. Robert

  • THNx

  • THNx

  • Hold the reset button on the router in for 10 seconds and it will reset to factory default settings and the security will be off.

  • can u guys make a vid on how to connect a belkin router exactly how we need to...caz theres a vid on how to do it and i do it but it wont work

  • Cool... ok... we'll add that to our "workshop" series.

  • is it the same username...PM ME WHEN YOU DO IT..THANKS

  • Same Channel --- I'll pm you when we do it.

  • thx

  • i cant set up the belking wireles

  • Why shouldn't we use WEP?

  • WEP takes about 15 seconds to break.

  • My SSID is not broadcasted and my MAC Filters are set. Can they still get in?

  • Absolutely. Disabling SSID and using MAC filters will only keep out the most disinterested script-kiddies. Even though you are not "advertising" your SSID, anybody with a packet sniffer and a wireless card can find the SSID. Likewise with the MAC filter, it only takes a packet sniffer to find a MAC that you ARE allowing, then a hacker can "spoof" a legit MAC. In other words, then can fool your AP into thinking that THEY are YOU.

  • Ok, Thanks for the info. But I am not FBI or CIA and don't think anyone will try that hard to get into my home network.

  • Just one word - Xirrus

  • Are you a god , i think you are! great show man well done

  • too bad you arent still in San Francisco. you could've hooked up with the revision3 guys.

  • It would be great if he was on rev3.

  • I agree, you really should look into taking this show and turning it into a TechTV thing. Much better that G4

  • Good episode again Robert. You do good work. You should consider investing a little more time and money into your production. Who knows how far it could go.

  • i have a belkin and its the little silver 30 dollar one and its been okay to me but sometimes i am just not pleased with it at all

sometimes i have so much problems with it yet sometimes i have so little problems

  • Psyfertech --- I've actually had that experience with Belkin gear as well. I have a few Belkin APs that I've been using as APs... they are awesome... they perform great and I've never as much had to reset them.... However, I also have a few Belkin routers that have been absolutely mediocre. --- Still... these units performed pretty well for us.

  • yeah, its so weird, i get about mabey 50 feet or 100 feet from my house before the signal deteriorates but im thinking of getting linksys when i get a little better on money, are those any good?

  • 127.0.0.1 ---- In network parlance, this IP address is also known as "home" --- Therefore, in uberGeek translation, the shirt reads, "There's no place like home" ---- :)

  • Great video! I still can seemed to find these things useful, and what 127.0.0.1 is :[
