  • Eishin-ryu. With a hint of Niten-ichi Freeform....?

    :) very nice.

  • Wow, you remind me of a guy a like with the coolness factor (including the hair thing - you might want to use a ponytail or cut the fringe before it impairs on your cutting :) ). Question though. I know it's silly but I'm curious as I do not do iaido, do you have to clean the sword after each cut, i.e. is the katana treated so there won't be problems once it touches water with chlorine? Also, where did you learn your art? Thanks.

  • DDDUUUDDDEEE!!!!

    You are an AMAZING CUTTERR!!!!!

    Start cutting Fuc*ing REAL TATAMI!!!!!!!!

    YOU ARE AWEESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen ALOT of ppl cutting and you are at the top 20, maybe top 10! you are AWESOME!

  • Can I ask you a question?

What aspects of Kenjutsu vary from style to style?

    btw:great video,and smooth moves.

    Rock on.

  • Nice smooth moves, nice noto and get a top knot, or at least a hair bobble, your not aragami.lol

Question 1 - why do you not tie up the sageo?

Question 2 - Why do you have a fist after cutting? Bad habit or specific style?

I think you lean too much into second set second cut.

  • fist on the noto? yes thats the style and sageo was not tied because i did not find it essential for what i was doing but for tamami i would and for testings... i didn't feel like properly tying my hakama in this video because i was lazy or however i was feeling at the time lol

  • i noticed that your saya's curve is facing down, i was wondering if thats how its supposed to be or if that is a particular style/technique?

  • umm do you mean the edge facing up while in the sheath? yeah thats part of the style and makes it possible for draw cutting to be more affective as well as smoother.

  • thanks, im starting to get into weapons alot more and this has always been one of my favorites, also do you know where i an learn cutting stance techniques outside of a program or dojo?

  • well... not very often do you find places that teach for free >_> but my friends have been bugging the hell out of saying i should post some vids of basic tameshigiri and kenjutsu based on eishin ryu kenjutsu/iaijutsu...

  • isnt the downward position mostly used? like upward is a rarity?

  • upwards is used very often unless on horseback but its the styles teachings and i believe all styles teach it that way. but its more polite i've heard and having the blade up is more precise for cutting as well as faster and theres something else i cant remember that it symbolizes

  • It's practicality is what you forgot, blade up means blade does not cut wood.

  • no.... its meant for draw cutting at every angle with the wrist not over rotating because its harder from blade facing down than it is facing up... thats the practicality of it... not cutting the saya...

  • @SheepMasterTojo In a sword duel, you wouldn't expect a cut from below? you'd be history.

  • lol @ playset in the bg

  • >_> i know... bad camera angle in this one...

  • Sorry about this question. But when you sheath you sword the last time in your vid. it looks like you have a human line on both sides of the blade. is it just the light hitting the blade weird, or is it double edged?

I was also wondering if you've read the book of five rings??

  • the blade was a musashi cheapy and it had bo-hi/bloodgrooves but is not double edged... and yes the famous autobiography by everyones favorite samurai Miyamoto Musashi i have read ^_^ also i read flashing steel and im going to get the new one soon to arrive in feb? i think..

  • human line!? i think you mean Hamon

  • the last samurai

  • omg you have no idea how many people said that to me when i had that long ass hair... now im just a samurai dude i guess >_>

  • lol weeaboo

  • Whether it be milk cartons or bamboo its better to cut with the same form you are thought by your sensei. Be consistent..especially with the word Tameshigiri in the video's title...

  • i dont know what you were "thought" but im sure i did well and thats all i need to know...And like i said, im not focused on my form when it comes to something basic such as this... otherwise my form is the most important to me and i would certainly use it in "real" circumstances

  • The only thing I can really say about this video is that I do like your flow. A lot of people who do tameshigiri on more than one target/milk jug at a time tend to be a bit choppy. But my biggest problem is your form, and even worse, that you say that you don't really focus on your form. The idea of cutting anything is that you do so with good form; that you use what you learn to cut well.

  • hate to burst your bubble but you dont need too much form to cut something as basic as those jugs... for that matter i didn't use form sorry if you dont like it

  • No, no, I didn't mean it like that.

I know myself that a lot of form is unnecessary.

I'm just saying, the idea is to practice so that you will always use great form. That's the idea of Kenjutsu.

  • ok well i thought you were saying something such as it requires some form for the jugs... i kinda like to play around in some of these vids but i guess i can take it a bit more serious... thanx for the knowledge

  • you know, it is not traditional tameshigiri, but tameshigiri is just test cutting, so the title makes sense :)

  • amazing wat centuries of blacksmithing can come up with

  • 試し切りがじゃない。。。

Water jugs are not considered tameshigiri cutting. That's just cutting water jugs. You can cut those with a kitchen knife.

  • excuse me if im cheap and cant buy tatami mats as much as some people may...

  • don't listen too him, it is fun and cheap too cut the milk jugs, don't you think?

  • lol hell yeah it is and sorry to nos if i dont want to cut up 6$ at a time... milk jugs=free!!!

  • lol, that is exactly it, i mean, i have bamboo, and as we all know, it is an excellent target, i am going too plant some bamboo, because it will grow almost any where and grows REALLY FAST! hell, if you are ever in new york, i will give you some :)

  • just remember, even though it is much cooler to sheath your sword after the cut,the water will seriously damage the inside of the sheath, making it so that you have too replace it

  • hehe yeah lately i been wiping my blade more before resheathing lol

  • yeah, you cannot go without doing that, hey, what katana do you use anyway? i personally like the cheness kaze, that is what i use to cut

  • OH FUK I LUV THAT SWORD!!! too bad i dont have it >_> my friend lets me use his every now and then because im using a cheapy mid carbon sword lol until i buy one from cheness... thinking of the kaze or onibasu

  • yeah, i really want the onibasu too, looks like a fantastic weapon, and there 1060 line is not much weaker than the 9260 line...

  • Nosferatu1022 to cut in water jugs is Tameshigiri u can slice a tree and its Tameshigiri u can slice youre frinds finger off and thats Tameshigiri to. Its not what u slice in who make it to Tameshigiri its how you use the sword. Have you ever heard of light targets han heavy target....?

  • I am SO FUCKING JEALOUS of your toy play for with no less than TWO SLIDES. holy shit I want to be you that toy fort is awesome.

  • ^_^

That was some awesome waterjug violence man!

    WATER JUG GUTS!!!!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!!!

    I love you waffle!!!

  • pretty sweet dude, pretty sweet!!!
