  • Watched this in school today. My mind was blown and my pants were filled.

  • Cool narration & music. :-)

  • Is illusion such a bad thing as people say? Were those people in the cave happy without knowing the life outside the cave? What if the life outside is crap?

How do we know that the life outside isn't a projection of something bigger?

How do we know if we don't live only in a 'bigger' cave?

Is it really important to know what we are missing?

    so many questions...

  • very good analogy

  • Keep "Waiting for Goddot", is a very efficient shackle, and a very good reason for inaction. FEAR OF THE CROSS IS ANOTHER.

  • Nay, they should do what Lao Tze (Taoism) and Dennis Stephens did ("The Resolution of the Mind" author), and leave a written manual on their way up and out of the cave.

  • The cave is the milieu carefully constructed by the Ordo Ab Chao boys to feed the little mushrooms bat guano. The binding constraints are the mythical education, news and amusements conditioning the slave's minds into the perceiving the illusions and shadow world as reality. The imprisoned slaves prefer their comfortable illusions to reality. Enlightenment is not to be found in worship of a fallen solar angle or a dark cave; but few will stop laughing long enough to really open their eyes.

  • Δεσμωτες. :)

  • welcome to america

  • i can both agree with this and disagree... quite the mind cranker

  • What we learn with this story is where we don't want to go, we don't want to go to the path of lies. Maybe what we need to know is where we DON'T want to go. Can the lie live without truth? Can we escape the lies if there's no truth at all?

  • The only truth we know is... that we don't need the absolute truth... we need the path, because if we don't walk this path our life will be meaningless

  • there's no absolute truth...

  • Almost agree with you AND agree with evepreversespeaking...

Imo, it describes the PATH to Abs.Truth.

But then... couldn't it be that AT while existing, it would reside in the infinite, therefore never being reacheable.

Infinite and Absolute Truth seem to have the paradoxical property of being both concrete and abstract. Just a thought.

  • In a world condemned to approximation there is non..you are right..but everything that has an existence in this world has it's source in the absolute.

without the first unit 1->representation of the absolute->there is no mathematics.

Everything that we know is a contained truth->an illusion is a contained truth->illusion has no existence without The Truth->just like any number contains the first unit and has a relation to 1->approximates 1 ->illusion approximates the absolute.

  • The very existence of all the other numbers depend on 1->Our world is a matryoshka like mathematical system...->the fact that you cannot grasp the absolute does not provide a justification to your denying of it.

  • (this post is cryptic..If you read it carefully I think you will get what I mean and if you don't I cannot explain you the philosophy of truth in one paragraph so you will have to do your own research about the subject).

  • I don't agree, of course there is, us not being able to understand, reach or conceive it is something, and there not being absolute truth at all is something else.

  • @nyappynoodle 1+1=2. Truth. Absolute. Undeniable. Indisputable. True in the U.S., as in China, As on Pluto. If there's no absolute truth then we are left with partial truths only. Partial/half truths are still half lies. No absolute truths = all lies.

  • @cfrancisco74 Yes, it is undeniable, but if I ask you to explain why is that so, you can't do it. Try it.

  • @nyappynoodle Bcoz it will NEVER equal 3, 4, or anything else. Try it.

  • @cfrancisco74 Explaining this fact using the impossibilities is not what I asked, I want you to try to explain me why it equals 2, and that is the hard part.

  • @nyappynoodle Is that an absolute statement? If so would you consider it absolutely true?

  • @nyappynoodle Is that absolute?

  • The allegory is a description of the path to the absolute truth.

  • @evpreversespeaking very well said

  • We are the prisoners, the prison-house is our world of sight, the light of the fire is our sun and the metaphorical sun is the absolute.

  • The representation of the sun and certain details in the description corrupt the metaphorical meanings attributed to the elements present in the allegory thus obstructing the person viewing the animation to use abstract thinking in order to understand the allegory.

  • The person who encounters the allegory of the cave for the first time through this animation will not understand that it is his very own experience of reality which is in question in this allegory.

  • Basis of the Matrix... i love it!!!

  • where did this come from?

    I can tell it's old, 60's or 70's.

    it's GRRRREEEAAATT!!

    :>)

  • This is so existentialist

  • i totally understand this video.. makes so much sense to me... and says alot!!!!

  • Thanks
