No, it was in 9 A.D. The Romans didn't look like that in the 5th Century :)

The barbarians/germanians were in the late 5th century with the Romans, so it kinda makes sense to imagine it in -30 B.C. `cause the last 4 men commit suicide, 9 A.D. `cause that`s what you said, & 476 A.D. `cause that`s when the Romans lost a battle with the barbarians.

But the movie is about the Varus Battle which had taken place in 9 A.D. So I can say this piece of history is from 9 A.D. In 476 the Western Roman Empire declined. There was no forest battle like this then. Rom had become weak before until it collapsed in 476.

Eigentlich hieß es ja, die Germanen wären aus den Büschen gekommen, haben ein paar Römer getötet und sind dann wieder im Gebüsch verschwunden. Das ist mehrere Male passiert. Sie hatten jedoch dafür gesorgt, dass der Rest der Truppe nichts von den Angriffen mitbekam. Außerdem haben sie die Römische Truppe immer mehr getrennt. Es gab also eigentlich keine "Schlacht". Außerdem waren die röm. Soldaten desmoralisiert.Dieser Film ist zwar sehr gut gemacht, hat aber historisch einige Fehler.

ansich genial gemacht, auch die detailverliebtheit hat mich begeistert... das einzige problem das ich habe ist, dass die Römer aber am Schwert wie Stümper wirkten.

Was soll ichsagen die ersten beiden Schlachtszenen das mag sein...

aber gerade bei der letzten, die ja offenbar uaf relativ offenem gelände stattfand, müssten die Römer sich besser wehren, und eine schildron bilden.... denke ich.

aber alles in allem begeistert =)

Well, Romans were specialised in a battles they could prepare a long time in an open field. But they walked on ruogh ground and the Romans were surprised, because of the attack of the Germans. There was no chance of throwing a pilum. Just one on one fights and the Romans couldnt fight in their wall formation. Thats the reason why the Roman lost the battle. ;) Thanks for commenting.

@AciesFilms The Romans could'nt form their battle formation due to being in the forest. A similar incident happened when Boudicca revolted against Rome, her forces attacked the legion sent against them by ambush.

@AciesFilms You know your history. The reason they were so unprepared was because Varus was a vain commander whose recent post had been an easy one in Judaea fighting zelots, so he was thick enough to trust arminius.

Great battle scenes. Poor Romans didn't stand a chance against those vicious Vikings. Romans should have used the famous wall with their huge shields. But all panic breaks out from the sound of the vikings war cries and ambush. Thanks for being the first to leave a comment on my site.

Wow, those are a lot of playmobil figures, but have yu evre tried with LEGO, its easie becaus there are baselates that help the minifig stay standing. This is nice too, I lik your "box shield" (as I like to call it) like int eh movie 300 spartans. Too bad the playmobils' legs don't move.
