  • Just learned the solo. Don't think it'll sound as pretty on trumpet as it does on english horn, but I'm sure as hell gonna try

  • SHOW ME THE BREAD

  • We're playing this, I'm a violin, and its so fun! and beautiful :D

  • Asura's Wrath FTW!

  • This piece is amazing. No words to describe.

  • Beautiful way to relax Ross keys

  • I'm playing the theme for this.. So beautiful!

  • i know how to play the oboe solo on clarinet!!!

  • starting from 0:00, and ending at 2:56, that's the part of this music that I like the best.

blend it in with any scene of someone crying over something he, or she did wrong, and it becomes somewhat emotional, yet beautiful.

at least as far as my opinion indicates

  • Antonín Dvořák was Czech. When he was writing this masterpiece he was thinking about his motherland which was so far away... I am proud of this great Czech composer.

  • i wish this amazing song had words to sing to.... amazing.. just as breath taking now as it was back when i was in 6th grade and heard it for the first time in that very concert hall.. absolutely beautiful. who says band is better than orchestra..

  • Can't believe Dvorak wrote this piece. Beautiful!

  • How can you dislike this?! :O

  • absolutely beatiful <3

  • Dvorak actually said in a letter to a former student that this symphony is "purely Bohemian in form".

  • Dvorak did such a great job composing this symphony. When ever I hear it, I cannot help but immediately think of America's beauty and the World's beauty for that matter. This is so perfect!

  • a loaf of hovis to me to

  • Hmmmmm--- :) :) :), Listening to this makes me feel like a boomerang, the end of the video may send me off to the next video but I always come back ;) ... to listen it again... and again...and again ;)... ;) the music is just way too beautiful ;)

  • The English Horn solo is my alto sax solo in the marching band show this year:) except my solo has a latin twist to it so its dirtier and has more riffs and fun stuff:)

  • @RhyKnowMusic we're playing this to, but we have a mellophone solo

  • Big music from the small country...

  • 101 reasons why the english horn is better than the french horn:reason #1

  • what's the instruments at 0:58?

  • @lwk456 i think it is the oboe or a cousin of it

  • @lwk456 -english horn and clarinet sounds like

  • @lwk456 if im not mistaken that's an oboe

  • @lwk456 it's an english horn

  • I play this music when I'm on ancestry.com

  • wow. amazing again. english horn is such a wonderful instrument and this piece of music lets it shine even more beautifully. btw. the e.horn- player reminds me of basil poledouris a bit.

  • Beautiful.

  • I'm in a school district summer band we played largo and finale but it was not near as amazing

  • this is great! thanks for the upload. I remember hearing this in "The Departed" on bagpipes during the Massachusetts State Troopah's funeral, anyone know where I can find that version? That's what I was looking for before I found this :)

  • Really hypnotizing music imo. Very relaxing.

    Salammbo anyone?

  • 28 people don't have ears.

  • at 2:52 its twins

  • With all due respect to Aaron Copeland's compositions about America [as those are still some of my favorite of all time], I believe that this 2nd movement work by Dvorak portrays the greatest image through "the sound of music" to depict America as we know it. -Mark Seibold, Retired IT Tech, Artist-Astronomy Educator, Portland Oregon.

  • This is so great that i can't even tell how great it is.

  • Orchestra.......check

    Hall Rented...check

    Composer.....Czech

  • @Gazzar *snrrk!* Nice one!

  • Felicitaciones desde Venezuelaaaaaaaaaaaa......... saludosss

  • I cannot decide which of the movements is better. The whole symphony is amazing, best symphony ever.

  • Bakeddorritos. What the fuck are you talking about you nutter. Americans taking it to the extreme again. It's a beautiful piece of music. Just enjoy and stop talking shit.

  • Everytime I listen to this piece I picture a man getting off a ship and seeing this whole new world like a different planet unlike anything anyone has ever seen. If Dvorak were to have composed this symphony nowadays I would picture a man walking down the street and getting murdered for his money or a little girl getting raped by some messed up freak. America isnt the land of opportunity its the land of getting shot while taking a little walk in the park

  • Splendid.

  • Proud to be Czech:)

  • @TheXczech Já jsem taky. :)

  • Thank you! A beautiful piece of music and the performance is great!

  • Z Noveho sveta - My Homeland.

    So beautiful.

  • means a loaf of hovis to me althoug the incredible new world synphony helps

  • means a loaf of hovis to me

  • Good music will make you hear, but great music will make you see. This movement to me speaks of my home in Texas. It's as if Dvorak was speaking to my great grandparents' lives; that this wilderness would reap great benefits in exchange for great stewardship of nature. I can see the beautiful painted landscape from sunrise to sunset, the vast strokes of paint dripping across the hills. This piece inspired me to listen to more classical music, and has made me a more insightful man in the process.

  • i watch this to go asleep.!very effective

  • this is so beautiful i just want to cry!!! :')

  • I`m playing this song in a youth orchestra and I`m playing the 2nd trombone so i`m having a solo at the start and I`m always get scared how beautiful it sounds. (not only my solo, i mean the complete song:D)

  • How can anyone NOT like this music. They must be tone deaf or have no soul. This piece engages the heart, mind and soul. It has the ability to transport me to a joyful and uplifting sphere far above and beyond the confines of this ordinary world.

    Thankyou, Antonin

  • this movement is a memory of the czech republic

  • This song was in alone in the dark 1 in the end of the game

  • To be honest..I first heard this on a Hovis advert....but I just loved it...everytime im angry I play this and I calm down and deal with the situation...Thank you Dvorák' without this I would be a yob..

  • @grikes14

That's Ridley Scott's famous advert. Boy did he go on to great things.

  • The opening never ceases to blow me away. With the heaving brass chords, I picture Dvořák, a simple man from the old country, in awe of the great city of New York and its skyscrapers, and perhaps somewhat intimidated. . . then, a moment later, he recalls his beloved Bohemian countryside, as the muted strings come in, playing those very simple yet heart-wrenching chords. So touching. . .

  • omfg i love english horn!

  • When I think back to what I was doing moments ago- listening to this- it is such an awesome moment to reflect upon.

  • I'am the trumpeter, but for this track i could change my instrument...

  • I live in the UK and this music is the only thing that has ever made me want to visit the USA.

To see what Dvorak is describing in music.

Deep forests opening on to high plains and drifting off the west and beautiful mountains. I listen as I write and seeing wide open skies and deep canyons. Wind swept deserts and beautiful blue seas.

  • @slyph63

    You'll just see shopping malls.

  • @omfgitsbob Find somewhere else to live then, because where I'm from in the States there is natural beauty all around.

  • @slyph63 Deserts are stupid. I live in one, it's not sand dunes. Some mountains are cool, but not in the desert. I hate everything here. Canyons, somewhat cool. Mountains are where it's at though. The forests are even better. Plains, boring, but cool to see everything go on for miles.... skies, u see em everywhere. Blue seas are awesome, not many spots where you can find em, pollution is a dik. That music is what describes America's past, it was way better when there was little pollution.

  • @slyph63 Go to spillville Iowa where he stayed. It was his Czeck refuge. He was inspired there to compose this.

  • @slyph63 Make sure you go to Brunswick, Georgia! :)

  • this reminds me of the Shire right as the movie starts there

  • this reminds me of the Shire

  • miss ya dad

  • OHHH MYYYY GOSH MY SKOOLS MARCHING BAND PLAYED NEW WORLD SYMPHONY AND IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! however we didn't play the 4th movement and we sped up the tempo on this mvt.

  • This timeless masterpiece is one of the few things that make me proud to be Czech. Once listening, I can't stop.

  • 27 very very odd people

  • I hear the subdued hope of my ancestors in this piece for a freedom that sadly would never be seen in their lifetime, a hope that their descendants would someday enjoy the full rights of citizenry in the New World. Do know that your struggle was not in vain, and even brighter days are upon us. Thank you Dvorak for memorializing the timeless aspirations of these beautiful souls, souls that surround and comfort me every time I immerse myself in this simple yet angelic melody, tears and smiles.

  • If this movement was a place on earth! it would be where my house should be! mmm! peace.

  • Thank God for music identifying software! I played this song in high school some 10 years back and have had it stuck in my head for over a week, but could not for the life of me remember what it was called. Great song, fun to play and even better just to listen to!

  • I ache with longing and sadness whenever I hear this, its beauty overwhelms me.

  • This is probably my all time favorite symphony and my favorite part is definitely the Largo section.

I got to play an interesting take on the themes in this piece for vibraphone. It was "Reflections on the New World" by Ney Rosauro, and it's a pretty neat piece that takes the themes from the symphony and adds some Brazilian flavor to it. You can find it on my videos page if you're interested.

  • It's pretty unique....

  • ur runny monkey350. heres a good one for ya.. 33 people disliked part of new workd symphony. he told them to deep throat a cactus. halarious

  • tomorrow I am playing only part of this song for a solo and ensemble thing at mybschool. since I am only just starting to play the flute in 6 grade we only do part but I would like to learn the whole song one day because it is really pretty

  • This whole symphony is one of my favorites... Back when I was in high school, my marching band used this for our field performance. It was one of our highest rated performances, too! Second only to the year we did the Firebird Suite. This symphony is more beautiful and more moving than words alone can express.

  • a captação de som da orquestra prejudica muito

  • une pure merveille !!!!!!!!

  • Seeing this performed in a few days.. S'gonna be gooood

  • This incredible movement by Dvorak, written after his visit to America, symbolises a coloured man, slave, who is yearning for a better future for his family, particularly his kids. As regards to symphonic structure this has to be the best 2nd movt ever written by anyone.

  • @TheWall2000 Funny thing about the New World Symphony. It's all about America.

  • @FroggerbobT Indeed it is. When Dvorak visited America equal rights were still on the horizon.

  • @TheWall2000 I can't decide which second movement is better, this or that of Beethoven's 7th. I love them both so much!

  • @TheWall2000 Not according to some Black guy I was having this debate with on another thread. But that what I was taught. Thats why it's called "Going Home" because thats what the slaves dreamed of.

  • @TheWall2000

He was also apparently inspired by native Americans. You can hear a bit of both native and negro influences in this masterpiece. It truly is an amazing work of classical music. Absolutely one of my favorites...from a time when nothing was close to perfect, but everyone was optimistic in some sense, and still all open to the near infinite possibilities this awesome continent offered.

  • @TheWall2000 arguable, beethoven's 2nd movement symphony 7 (both of these are lovely pieces) i can't decide which one I like more

  • @TheWall2000

As beautiful as that sounds, it's not quite right. The second movement ("Legend"), according to Dvorak himself, is inspired by H.W.Longfellow's poem Hiawatha. Also I wonder by which actual measurement and argument you determine which 2nd movement of all symphonies ever written was the best.

    With kind regards,

  • @TheWall2000 At least that's what it means to you.

  • @TheWall2000

This is beautiful, but asfor being the best 2nd movt ever, I think Beethoven 7th Symph outstands

  • @sapinta I totally agree!!!

  • @sapinta Ha! Beethoven's 7th? That's almost laughable. Try out Tchaikovsky's 5th.

  • When I hear something this wonderful, I always wonder: how did the composer know to do this?

  • I heard this on Modern Toss. Reminds me of Alan always being a dick.

  • this heart makes my heart soar and ache at the same time...

it brings back memories of my life years back, one i wish i could return to....and it makes me happy i was even a part of those memories and that this song was able to even touch my life in such a strong way.

  • INCREDIBLE UPLIFTING POIGNANT AWESOME

  • That is so amazing. Dvorak is great.

  • Watching, smiling, goose all over my body and tears rolling on my cheeks. Amazing.

  • Aaaah so good very nice

  • ahhh So Relaxing and Calming

  • OMG Awesome! love it!

  • I really like this song, especially since I'm 11 and can play the theme on my Saxophone. Also this song is Largo not Adagio.

  • @222StarGirl im pretty sure its adagio, the difference being maybe 6 beats faster per minute than largo.

  • @222StarGirl It just depends on the period , In baroque largo is faster than Adagio , but Now in modern music largo is slower than adagio :)

  • @222StarGirl It just depends on the period , In baroque largo is faster than Adagio , but Now in modern music largo is slower than adagio

  • @222StarGirl

    Your channel says you're 25

  • I'm in an orchestra and we performed this piece recently. It is a truly beatiful peace and a reminder of what the slaves went through working in the fields. It will never be forgotten.

  • I'm in an orchestra and we performed this piece recently. It is a truly beatiful peace and a reminder of what the slaves went through working in the fields. It should never be forgotten.

  • so wonderfully poignant and plaintive.

  • I am in an orchestra and we played this peice today, it is a spiritual sang by slaves working in the plantation, for instance. It is a truely beautiful piece and is a reminder of what the slaves went through. (There are lyrics to the song too).

  • I saw this performed live by a local symphony orchestra. The intro, when heard in person, is almost unreal. I would re-live that moment over and over again if I could.

  • so gorgeous... i'm playing this in a string orchestra i'm in, i have the english horn solo(i play viola) they shouldnt have transposed this.... they needed to keep it for english horn

  • That conductor really loves his job.

  • @AdmiralGreene If I were the conductor of this incredible orchestra, I would love it too ;)

  • How is it that music can make you cry?

  • @rcarrillo7 Some are more emotional than others, but its the feeling you get when you listen to music. Whether it makes you happy enough to cry or even sad enough to cry, its the feelings the song evokes. Some may cry, and some may get a strong feeling, or others may not get either. Listen to these two and look for feeling.

  • Reminds me Of Halo reach; Jus' Sayin'

    The start atleast

  • I saw, a video on Sesame Street, believe it or not, in the very first season, of a spinning orange, spinning in the dark, accompanied by chatter from NASA, from Apollo 11, taken from the first moon landing. It ended with a pull back featuring the orange lying on a plate next to a half-eaten lunch.

It's that juxtaposition, of the orange and the moon shot, that has stayed with me ever since, I keep hearing those final chords, and seeing Neil Armstrong's helmet, the earth over his shoulder...

  • this so much sounds like lord of the rings! :D

  • I love this song--also known as "Going Home". It reminds me of the best year of my life--a long time ago!! When I was a senior in high school. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • That was so beatiful that it made me cry and actually i have to do a solo/ansamble with this song for bassoon yep im agilr and everybody says why do you play that its so big for a girl!!!well too bad i play it anyway!!!!so get over it!!!!!

  • Love this movement but I hate counting all the rests. I love the English horn solo, it's so beautiful.

  • Dvorak was a great composer, but maybe not the greatest ever. But he created the greatest single piece of classical music ever in this movement.

  • @littlebeartoe Wholeheartedly agree with you one hundred percent.

  • Didn't that conductor molest Natalie Portman in "Black Swan"?

  • This song sounds similar to 'Road to Voi' from Halo 2. (If you play Road to Voi, it would be easier if you start at 1 min. 2 sec. to see what i'm trying to compare) There could be a better song to compare from Halo, but there are too many!

  • hovis advert. only bad thing is that I play this too often I'm playing it at two orchestras at the same time

  • I´m proud to be Czech because of Dvořák! Among others...

  • Děkujeme z České republiky. Z rodné země Antonína Dvořáka.

Thank you from the Czech Republic. The homeland of Antonin Dvorak.

  • This song makes me think of the past...my loved ones, people I've lost and gained, the sweet moments in life, the sad moments in life...and in the future it will remind me of today and today's memories.

  • need some hovis bread now mmm

  • Advertising companies should be banned from using classic music in adverts -this is so beautiful -but I cant get "home to mum and royco soup" out of my head -they did the same thing with Barber recently on some shitty british bread comercial. they should be lined up and shot!!!

  • @greenmonkeyorange Most popular classical music reminds me of some Bugs Bunny cartoon. I'm glad I was introduced to the music that way though, or I may never have had an appreciation for it.

  • As a child my mom would play this for us (my brother, sister and me) and I was only 3 or 4 at the time and the sweetness of the melody would just grab hold of me and make me sit still and listen, which was hard for a child to sit still for more than 5 seconds. We recently lost mom to alzheimer's decease, and now I listen to this with a bitter sweet feeling. This composition transends time, age or race, little more Dvorak and Bethoven and little less rap and hip hop would help youth today. Enjoy..

  • @1970PMD How beautiful!

  • @1970PMD Beautiful story, true! Happy the person who went through an infant stage as well. Buffalo,de Brazil

  • @vladpiranha : My goodness! How ignorant can someone be?! I don't know whether I shall laugh or cry! To compare Dvorak with John Williams or any other damn film composer is like comparing a Beethoven sonata with some Britney Spears bullshit.

  • @sdfgdsgfsdfg beethoven was once just a pop star too

  • Gives me the fantastic feeling of floating in space.

  • @HeadfulOfHollow ...and looking down upon all life

  • Need to marry you Be Naughty girls benaughtyman.info

  • This is the piece I heard in a film. Awesome (as in "brings awe")

  • God I love the opening of this......

  • sim ply sublime i cant help but cry when i hear it.

  • this is just beautiful. My middle school band is playing it so it doesnt sound as great, but this is helping use work our way to is. well done Dublin Orchestra!

  • This song reminds me of a fresh new day! How everything just wakens and is alive. I literally feel the soul inside of me stir and awake. Then, I am filled with so many emotions. I am moved, simply moved to a new state. I wish others (more than just a few) my age could appreciate it.

  • i need a sandwich now

  • I had the honor of playing 1st trombone in a symphony orchestra for this piece once. It stands out as one of the greatest experiences of my life.

Beethoven once said that music is the mediator between the spiritual and the sensual life, and it is music like this that proves his point.

  • waaww...

  • Going home =D =D =D

  • any time you put a bassoon and an oboe together with violins....god is whispering his lullabye

  • Such an unforgettable melody, with such a swelling of warmth and revelry - this is fantastic. Thank you Dvorak & Dublin Phil!

  • Why do I have this picture of Frodo returning home in my head?

  • im jealous i want his hair!!!!peace out LOL

  • Beautiful. We just played this Symphony and during our performance of the second movement, our conductor and many players were moved to tears.

  • This song of a game : Halo Reach Maybe.

  • 23 people hate the New World.

  • 23 people hate the New World.

  • it started to stink around 5:06

  • On Judgment Day, 23 people will pay for pressing "dislike" on this song.

  • I'm in love with this piece and Saturn from Gustav Holst.

  • This song makes me feel like Morgan Freeman should be narrating the triumphant yet bittersweet closing scene of a movie.

  • Some people seemed to have accidently pressed the wrong button... Or have no hate classical music

  • i think micheal salvatori might have used dvoraks openings as inspiration for the intros to halo reach's OST movements!

  • 23 people are jealous of the conductor's hair.

  • @monkeys350 26!

  • this gives me chills :)
