  • I saw a GP25 rebuild parked in San Bernardino with a Santa Fe Caboose at the Sanbag Station

  • Did BNSF keep the V-20 in there SD45s?

  • @panamcunard: Unfortunately not. SD40-2 prime mover (V-16) was installed instead.

  • Why do they make SD45s look like SD40-2s?

  • This is TOO COOL. I just did a "kit-bash" of an Aristo Craft G Scale SD-45 and several people told me BNSF never had an SD-45 in their fleet. Well, looks like this video just blew that out of the water didn't it? ROFLMAO

Thanks for sharing this video. You can see the "kit-bashed" SD-45 by going to eBay and entering # 150481689236

  • Sweet! I'd like to see an SD45-2 some day. And a three windowed SD60M but that means I need to see foreign power. UP comes through occasionally so theres my chance. And CSX has only one... Anyways great video!!

  • Could you please, make a video on the Warm Springs local as it is now????

  • @trainboy94: I want to chase the job again, but I'll need a day off from work the same day the job runs. I did catch it briefly onboard Capitol Corridor #537 last month in the video, "Warm Springs Local and MRVSJ ".

  • I saw that one, but there is no really good video showing the now almost all can job

  • is this near the closed NUMI plant in fremont right of of lopes court??

  • @thesportbikeman: Yup.

  • Hot catch! Ex-ATSF rebuilt SD45-2 with ex-BN SD40-2!

  • wow unfuckin believeable you caught this in February. the Dash 2's were all pretty much in storage by then.

  • sucks that the nummi plant is closing! no more warm springs locals after march!

  • Well that is a welcome surprise. Never expected to see that happen with this retirement curse older power seems to be stricken with.

  • Damn, that new Scheme looks very nice on that '45-2.

  • Charles... Not sure if you read the e-mail on 'headsupnorcal', but there are two of these SD45-2 H3 beasts on the 2141 Local which runs Richmond-Riverbank-Richmond. It usually leaves RIC around 3-5AM Mon-Sat and comes back around 9-noon. :)

  • I did read it, but I haven't had a chance to make it up there yet. 2141 Local might be a fun train to chase someday.

  • Pop me off an e-mail whenever you want to... I know some good spots in Franklin Canyon. :)

  • The cars ( in Turkish , we call them vagon) are huger than the locomotives.

  • well done great to see.

  • nice catch

  • Very nice, Charles. Just a FYI, there's a roadslug (H3, SD40 carbody) that should be in Richmond still if you're up this way.

  • I hope it stays in the area for a few more days until I get a chance to chase it somewhere.

  • Went through today and it's gone. BNSF1574 has been in the same spot coupled to 2 Gensets for weeks now. The 7126-7871 is working the Warm Springs Local... 7126 is in H1 and sports a new casting Nathan P3. Hope all is well, and see you soon chasing 844. Are you doing the Donner chase Friday morning too?

  • I'm scheduled to work, so no Donner chase of the 844 for me. Hoping for a last minute schedule change.

  • what video camera do u use?

  • Canon ZR series DV camera.

  • nice!

  • the track looks knackerd

  • Nice find! Looks good in H3, too bad it doesn't still have it's 20 cylinder prime motor anymore. I don't know the exact history of the unit, but all of the 45-2's BNSF had were ex Santa Fe units.

  • Nice Video!! SD-45s are a dieing or dead bread. BTW Am I the only one who Youtube is being majorly slow with?

  • Very nice, looks pretty nice in H3 but too bad it didnt stay in it's good ole SF paint. Also, LOL with the conductor noticing you and talking to the engineer. That's what always happens to me because I just almost never get any extra horn action or speed with some of these guys like when I used to not take videos and just watch.

  • unlike when I used to not take videos*

  • I wonder if it has the SD45's 20 cylinder engine or the SD40-2's 16 cylinder engine...

The conductor started pointing at you and talking to the engineer, thats when the lights came on lol

"Oh crap, were on camera! Better do everything right!"

  • Unfortunately, BNSF 1574 no longer has the 20 cyl. prime mover.

The crew is a regular on the job and is probably tired of seeing me so often! They usually have their ditch lights on before exiting the yard limits. If you look at my other Warm Springs Local videos, you can see that they were doing something completely different this time, so maybe that explains their turning the lights on at that time.

  • Danny the engineer doesn't like any railfans... He'll actually turn his headlights off just to ruin our shots... Doesn't do it anymore after an email to a BNSF road foreman... He just gives us the 1 fingered salute.

  • Danny's being OK with me, his turning on the lights probably made my video better. :-) The conductor and the brakeman are cool. They've waved at me before.

  • That's just that special arthritis that affects some of us over 40- has a way of making only the middle finger stiff, you know. Try not to take it personally- a lot of Union Pacific employees feel the same way about us railbuffs, I just ignore them. Mike in Fresno, Ca.

  • nice job! what kind of comera do u use?

  • Canon ZR series DV camera.

  • Very nice catch! It does look like a SD45-2 rebuild to a SD40-2R
