Watching this video makes me really sad and close to tears. My sister died of a brain aneurysm just like Laura Branigan did. She died at 28 in 2002. Hearing someone sing this song, forever young, that died young makes it so tragic. Unfortunately, the only way to be forever young is to die young, and the sadness you leave behind is immeasureable.
Diana Ross also sang a version of an equally beautiful song penned by Bob Dylan with a similar title but this is definitely not the one.......the lyrical content is different. I hope this helps. Thanks.
Dylan wrote a song also titled 'Forever Young' but it's a completely different song. Laura Branigan is sing the Alphaville version of the song 'Forever Young'.
Rod Stewart remade Dylan's version of Forever Young.

@JoeJones3001, her people had her age changed so she would be younger.
I'v seen posts on message boards with people who went to High School with her and they showed she graduated in 1970 with them. They showed pics of the yearbook from 1970. She was born in 1952.
the original by alphaville was the classic but Laura does the song justice, a real voice sining a real song, doesnt happen oten these days. especially by people like One Direction lol
So ironic and sad to watch her singing a song called "Forever Young". Her version is as good as Alphaville's...I wonder if it was ever released as a single. Keep singing with the angels, Laura Branigan.
@elsyd1971 , No! do you even know the point of the song? I love Laura and awalys will but the song didn't really mean living forever, read the lyrics you'll get the point!
@thds699 I don't care what the POINT of the song is. When did I ever talk about the meaning or living forever?? I think Laura Branigan's version SOUNDS better than A'ville. Is that not allowed? Sheesh.
We love you Laura! You will always be "Forever Young" and so amazing. I'm glad I got to meet you and hear you sing this song. We miss your angelic voice! R I P.
@ashleyprettygirl1 ....Alphaville wrote and sang this song and it was released in 1984. But many others have recorded their own versions of this song.
@noble1134 i think forever young of bod dylan & this version are different.. i mean they are not the same in content..lyrics of the song..merely they're just d same title..
I was fortunate to watch Laura`s concert in Manila. Who would think she will be gone so soon. She remains my favorite with her 80s songs "Self Control", "The Lucky One" and this song. Miss you, Laura... Bless your soul...July 11, 2011.
@13dannyboy13 Yes I know...that's what I meant, every hit she had was a cover either of Raf,Tozzi Alphaville or Celine Dion....I know The Alphaville original very well,it was a huge hit here in italy....i think you misunderstood my comment...ciao!
@buckygatto Actually the songs, Shattered Glass, Spanish Eddie, The Lucky One and How am I supposed to live without you, were all written for Laura and thats just a few songs. Most of the songs Laura did were covers but that is in part of her producer Jack White. If it wasn't for Jack White bringing those songs to her, the United States would never have heard of Gloria, Solitaire and Self Control. I want to Thank Jack White for doing so and for Laura Branigan to sing those wonderful songs.
@sookie2007 Hello, sookie2007. I remember having Solitaire on 12 inch vinyl in the mid 80s, if I remember, wasn't it originally a french song with English lyrics by Diane Warren? For some reason I have never heard Solitaire on the radio and her cover of Forever Young, I didn't know existed until today. She had a very similar voice to Celine Dion, but with the looks.
Self Control was first sang by one of the writers. His full name is Raffaele Riefoli. But as an artist he goes by just Raf. Both versions of the song were released in the summer of 1984. But as you know Branigan's version went to become a mega-hit throughout the world, where Raf's version was popular in a few selected countries.
@Disgle I think she just chose to sing the song that way, softly. Laura Branigan actually had a very powerful voice, you should listen to the song "Gloria" and her version of "The Power of Love". Her voice was very strong and beautiful.
hey does anybody know how the song is called....it says somethinglike...and johnny drives a chevrolet he keeps the past behind and searchs forever ..jim jack and johnny...please im looking for this everywhere !!
Don't even think about Alphaville when talking about Laura. She chose this song for her own reasons. She sang it with passion. She communicated through her voice. She was a TRUE singer.
@ChaoYun Ehm yeah sorry, i like the song but I wasnt born in the 80s yet. Cant really help it when I dont know something that's not particularly common nowadays >.>
@davidjohnjones.....awesome artist?....maybe or let say yes,but not so original, most of her songs are just covers, like Self Control, personally I like better the original(Raf).
