wow, i didn't know Instituto cervantes is selling spanish books too. when's the next dia del libro so I can also buy some? Spanish books at National bookstore are expensive. There are cheaper ones from BookSAle but i usually need to patiently mine them from the book mounds. and if i found one, I usually didn't like its theme. 1 sec ago
Por lo que veo, eres de Singapur, no es? Si es asi, no seria mal la idea estudiar en Manila. It is far nearer than Latin America or Spain. You will learn Spanish, as evidenced by the 2 filipino youths who now speak it fluently after having studied at the Instituto. Many filipina nurses who studied at the instituto now work in Spain as registered nurses, so the curriculum is very good. May I ask, why are you in a rush to learn Spanish, just curious?
Hey, I'm a Filipino too. I live in Singapore now and haven't been back to the RP for ages.. Anyhow, it's because I'm so excited and there's this job that I wanna apply for and they prefer applicants who are fluent in Spanish, that's why.. Schools in Spain and LA offer quick courses..
I'm sure the fees in Manila will be lower, but I don't think I can afford to stay there for 2 long years though, when my work and family are here. Unless I probably get a good paying part-time job there to support myself for the whole course. Hahaa..
Hola! there is a crash course that health care workers take before being immediately dispatched to Spain. I would nevertheless contact them. If you can afford Latin America or Spain then go for it. I know Spain is a very popular destination because being a former Spanish colony, Filipinos need only 2 years in Spain before becoming Spanish citizens (vs. 10 years for other countries)
Omg! I hope I can get an intensive course as well (I'm not a nurse) then probably move to Spain to further my studies. I think it's easier that way. I'll visit ICM when I go to the PH in May. ;) And thanks soOo much for the Spain 2 years thinggy. My dad has actually been forcing me to replace my SG residency with a citizenship, but I was holding back. Knowing this, I'd definitely prefer ES than SG citizenship if I have the chance.
Anyways, were you an ex student at ICM or are do you work there?
I'm thinkin of goin to Manila next year to study Spanish because it's cheaper than studyin in Spain or Latin America, but as I was checkin on the website's schedule, the intensive course is for 30 hrs a month only, when beginner course is 120hrs, intermediate is 240hrs and advanced is 360hrs.. It means, it'll take me 2 years if it's continous! omg.. I hope I'm wrong. How I wish there's a quicker way coz I don't really have much time. :(
The best way to learn Spanish is to live in a Spanish speaking country - the Philippines is not a Spanish speaking country, they speak Tagalog here or bad Americanised English.
A trip to a Spanish speaking South American country or to SPain would serve you better (as you'd be exposed to the language 24/7) and can live just as cheaply as in Manila, if not even more so.
