because canada is a first world country with a roughly equal GDP per capita as the USA, so it's just as rich, so to speak. in fact, most people would argue that quality of life is BETTER in canada (better health care, lower crime rates), so you can see why canadians aren't exactly rushing to get over the border and therefore americans aren't too bothered about it. as for mexico and the southern border, on the other hand... as beautiful a country as it is, it's mostly impoverished.

Hats off to al Jazeera for bringing this presentation. I cannot imagine any mainstream US media showing this heinous exploitation of migrants for commercial gain. Business opportunity in "transporting" and " correcting" illegal migrants sounds like collecting and storing vegetables before distribution.

we need to secure our borders, these people are called "Illegals" because they are doing something that illegal! Yes, we need to continue charging them and bringing them into jail. Aljazeera too focuses on the USA immigration issue, possibly to score its own political points.

Americans are also emigrating. Canada this year recorded one of its highest levels of American immigrants since the Vietnam War.

An open border benefits a capitalist society. It does not benefit a society that makes large social investments in education and health care, and legislates for the rights of the worker.
