Why did there need to be little word balloons added to tell us what the names of the characters are? Does anyone looking at this video really need that?
Hadn't ever seen this before, just an observation: This was 5 or 6 years before "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown". The characters attitudes, voices and style are so much alike. ..... Charles Schultz had a very clear vision of his Peanuts kids in the newpapers and in animation, that is probably why they are beloved to this day .... Very cool .....
I dabble in drawing the Peanuts folk as older, mature(repeat, mature) people.
One time, I drew a story with Peppermint Patty and Charlie Brown shooting darts in a bar. Later on, I drew her taking a smoke outside her house before inviting Chuck in.
And then later... I drew Chuck and Peppermint Patty as they were... okay, this would be "TV-MA" material.
This spot was directly adapted from one of Schulz's 1959 strips, where Charlie Brown passed out chocolate cigars upon the birth of his sister {Snoopy's resting on top of his doghouse in the last panel, one clenched between his teeth, thinking, "Not bad....he ought to have baby sisters more often!"}.
Boy it was nice to have a little Peanuts animation in the 50s but boy it would of been nice to have Peanuts specials in the 50s. I don't know why they waited til the 60s.
Very disturbing

I can remember when Hartz made chocolate for dogs, with a commercial saying "Dogs love chocolate!" That was back in the 1960s, after this commercial.

Apparently we're all stupid enough to need captions to tell us who the characters were.

The left winger anti-smoking Nazi's would have a cow if they played that commercial these days. LOL

Okay, was it necessary to put the names of the Peanuts characters in there, when this strip was popular all over the world?

WOAH, THIS IS MORE CONTROVERSIAL THAN THE FLINTSTONES CIGARETTES COMMERCIAL.
...oh, wait, they're chocolate cigars. OK, then...(or are they?)
eva001a 1 year ago 2
@eva001a LOL Im sure that it was either choclate or bubble gum cigar but it was the 50s so who knows. LOL
AngeLBarraganJR 1 year ago
WOW. And Nostalgia Critic was stunned when The Flintstones did cigerette commercials and those were animated adults. PEANUTS ARE 6 OR 8 YEARS OLD!

OKAY I listened again a little closer and they ARE chocolate. It's what I get for not listening a little closer.
