You are an artist, Professor. It looks great! I had a similar idea and I got some cheap Mac Tac in a wood grain pattern and tacked it onto my old Yamaha WX-11. It's not as pretty as yours, but it sure gets a different, more respectful response from an audience when I play it. People really like things that LOOK "natural", and it helps them accept the crazy sounds you can get out of it.
Very nice job. What adhesive did you use? And where are the weights? I suppose that the veneer has added some weight to the EWI after all, but probably not as much as those metal pieces. With the wood veneer, it seems like people will look at it as more like a "real" instrument. :-)
