@TRACKMAD1131 Granted but Rodgers I still think can do it he needs to work on his start now Mo Greene definitely had the edge when it came to the start in the 60.He at 5-9 160 has the perfect build for indoor sprinting.
@TRACKMAD1131 Trackmad what do you think of the guy Christophe LeMaitre the French sprinter who's been getting major publicity in the sport you think he could make some noise during the indoor season and more importantly outdoors the next two years?
@dal4018 Christophe LeMaitre wouldn't be good indoor because he's really poor in the first 50m of the race it's the second half of the race where LeMaitre does well in.
@MrAirnathan Yes ever since I've seen this guy everyone has said his start needs to be worked on but as I said before there were plenty of other great sprinters who didn't have excellent starts but finished like houses on fire in their prime.
if you needed quite a bit of muscle I think Harry aiki would be running a sub 10 already, and daniel baily would not. The fact the linf was on nandralone made me lose all respect for him eventhough he'd retired when he tested positive.
you do know mark lewis is slower now than he was 18.
ye but its not like athletes world wide were not screaming cheater at him when he suddenly got bigger and faster at the age of 27. many people believe he was always a cheat. dwain chaimbers is a cheat. lewis francis probably isnt. one thing steroids will do is repair injured tissue(be it tendon muscle or ligament) very fast and he has had too many injuries for me to believe he has been taking steroids.
lewis francis was never a cheat. Linford christie, i'm not 100% sure if he took anything during his career but the fact that he tested positive for a drug that had previously been undetectactable leads me to believe that he probably did.
ye it didnt seem normal for someone to be able to improve from 150th in the world to top 6-7 within a year at the age he did it(26) most people who make dramatic improvments will do it as they progress from their teens to their early 20's
Tyson gay run the fastest he's ever run at the age of 27. faster than any US sprinter, even gatlin who was roiding when he broke the record. Tyson has only been noticed after |powell broke the world record over a year ago, people peak at different times. so I dont accuse people of anything without conclusive evidence.
your forgetting one thing tyson was a top 200m runner before he ran the 100m. he didnt make the olympics in 2004 at 22 years old for the 200m due to injury and not being able to compete in the final of the trials even though he set one of the fastest times. tyson was always a great athlete but always had problems with his starts. he is now getting better at his starts he isnt getting faster. gay was running sub 20 200's since he was 23
linford wasnt a good athlete in his early twenties like gay was. gay ran a 10.08 at the age of 20 and was ranked high in the usa. only his start let him down christie couldnt run sub 10.5 in 1985 and suddenly he ran a 10.15 in 86 and got down to 9.97 by 88. it wasnt normal. he was ranked outside 150 in the world tyson was a top 30 at the age of 20 and he had bad starts. there is a big difference between them
@biglittlejujitsuman Bolt has a better start than gay and so does dwaine chambers and Daniel baily. I thought Tyson just increased his top end speed to be able to compete with these other guys. dwain chambers also seems to be getting quicker after his 2 year steroid ban at the age of 30.
Tyson ran 9.69 in China last september, the fact that he's improving any aspect of his running is a good thing.
ye he pretty much has his starts down right now but watch he always had a fast top end speed. much faster than powell. i mean he has chased powell down from behind to win 100m but. as good as 9.69 is he isnt getting anywhere near 9.58 unless he somehow gets a better explosive start like dwain chaimbers has
turnbacktime I had no idea about linf's leap up to elite status. going from 10.5 to 9.97 within 3 years isnt normal infact the current crop of brit 100m athletes are far better than christie was at the same age. I just wiki'd linf lol, he was the oldest 100m champion ever.. Tyson had been consistent throughout his career and I guess his injuries and start were the only things holding him back.
ye he ran like 9.87 at the age of 33 and ran a 10.04 at the age of 36. nobody else has done that. it isnt right. it goes against the grain completely. only guys on hgh or hormon replacment therapy can keep optimal performance into their 30's. darren campbell was a very under rated sprinter. id love to see mark lewis francis do well. sad to see he lost funding and stuff love to see him make london 2012
its probably impossible to test against HGH because levels differ to the extremes between humans. A lot of the older MMA guys in the UFC seem to b on the HGH. Randy couture comes to mind. lol.
If mark lewis can improve his form and stay focused I dont see anyone beating him at the 100m in this country. The guy hasnt looked in shape at any point during his 20's.
ye you can test levels with blood tests. ye alot of guys in combat sports use hgh because there are little or no blood test. same with epo in football(soccer). randy isnt just taking hgh he is rumoured to have gotten hormone replacment therapy. legal in certain states but not legal in sports. manny pac-man is on something in boxing he refused a blood test to fight mayweather. i think francis will be top of the list for beijing out of the brits if he geta in shape
i forget the guy ran 9.97 at 18 but the wind gauge was broken so measurement couldnt be made. now maurice greene ran 9.88 in the heats that time so it probably was a strong tail win but regardless anyone who runs a sub 10.1 at 18 is a big prospect. just looking at the american high school athletics every year there are more than 900 people running sub 11 and up to 40 people running sub 10.5 its a pitty most of em try to play football they were faster at 18 than aikens-areeyte was
Thats the way I feel. Most athletes running rediculous times at a young age opt for sports that are the most financially lucrative. I heard that Theo Walcott was one of the fastest kids in the UK at the age of 16 but he had to choose between football and athletics.
I doubt Manny takes anything, he just hates being told what to do by Floyd. against hatton, Manny was blood tested the day before and after the fight.
no he was only urine sample tested before and after the fight he did take a blood test 4 months prior to get a license but he could have cycled off for that. athletics is pretty much the only sport with up to date testing for performance enhancing drugs. obviously you cannot take blood every football match but random tests once a year no problem. escpecially with the money being made.
ye compare 976 sub 11 in high school to 15 in britain why arent they dominating in athletics?
If Nick Smith developed speed endurance he would merk...but unfortunately he hasn't got it...perhaps he wasn't born with enough talent...
Anyways coming to your point on Marc Lewis Francis...he has always been big and chunky..not fat, and he looks bigger here as he has been training with Linford Christie for the past year and a half...and Christie believed that you needed to have quite a bit of muscle to run sub 10
@StereoUk ye but you need not to have much fat and lewis francis definitely has a bit too much fat on him. i dont think he is more muscular here i just think he has more fat.
The amount of you who don't know much about track puzzles me

Hey Jujitsuman I think Rodgers could eventually break the indoor mark held by Mo Greene. What do you think??????????

@dal4018 no way!! maurice was much better out of the blocks and had more speed.

@MrAirnathan lemaitre runs a 6.55 60m, which wouldve been good enough to win this race
