  • Nice but he needs to get the words right thatas ulsetting RIP LAYNE!

    -

  • rane stone is the best "replacement" ive heard soo far...but of course NO ONE will ever replace Layne

  • I love this cover. Nice job guys!

  • This does not do justice to Jerry Cantrell

  • @hubcap101278 Really? wow. I think Shaun did a damn fine job! Cant think of another who could do it any better.

  • @hubcap101278 Cantrell has nothing to do with this song.

  • didnt know jerry was a part of mad season pl not to be rude but check before u dog a great cover mike mcreedy u may know him hes from pearl jam thats who was the orginal for this band.nothing away from jerry but w.o. layne mad season was nothing we got a great album what was aic w.o. layne well its jerry w.o. a lead vocalist just a harmony set in guy layne was such a musical talent and my idol w.e. u r layne god bless man and thank you 4 ur thoughts and helping us all bleed.

  • i think its great that seether is covering this song....think yall, mad season is 15 years old and theres a whole generation out there that might never hear this great music if not for the big name bands to cover them and get the young bloods to check out the original...keep it up seether. your makin yalls self look great for the mad respect ur showin for playin this and other great songs PLUS ur enlightening a crowd that may not have ever heard of mad season b4 the cover. good stuff

  • @DarlinNicole And for this they should be given an award for sure!

  • quite good, not like the orginal but very good none the less

  • i remember this like yesterday

  • clogged nose

  • Good job RIP LAYNE

  • r.i.p layne

  • anybody notice he fucked up. not sure if it was intentional but at 1:30 he sings "cut of my skin and buy some time" instead of cut of my pride and by some time"

  • i caught that immediately. But other than that, they didn't to too bad at all. Layne Staley had such a powerful and unique voice, that it is hard for anyone to sound exactly the same, but hey that is what made Layne so great. But yea, I'm with you on the lyrics part...GET IT RIGHT MAN! LOLLOL!!!

  • @igotthebudzxxx69 Did you notice what he said in his live version of "The Gift"???

    I never heard GIFT once!

    Resting my case....

  • so beautiful full of soul

  • I didnt know Shaun Morgan smoked =/

  • You go baby!! Love you, but love layne more!! Effin awesome job, thankx for posting!!

  • Good fucking cover... The vocalist is amazing.. I still prefer Layne Staley.. but this vocalist is really really fucking good.. amazing cover!

    RIP LAYNE STALEY

  • no not Layne but still good to hear

  • geez i remember buying facelift and mad season on cassette, saw seether recently and they reminded me so much of the era of"grunge" in which i grew up in,geez, R.I.P the grunge era and all the musicians and friends that left with it,now im depressed

  • this is a good cover and tribute to a legend so why does seether have to make such mediocre radio rock crap and not put a little heart into their music and make songs like this?

  • very nice of Shawn to give props to Layne.

  • It's a good tribute... I think SMW knows not to sound too much like Layne. My mother always said if you are going to cover someone else's song, do it a little different to show that you have the talent, too.

  • he heas a good voice, but nothing compares to LAYNE.

  • Wow I am impressed wish I couldve seen it live :)

  • this song is a master piece

  • THe lyrics sound off to me? Idk just seems backwards or something..maybe Im just crazy

Pretty decent cover nice sound to mix up the song...Still Layne forevs

  • they played it slower thats all but yeah thats what it was

  • no he dosent, he really dosent,

    layne was far better

  • it was a good cover but it isn't Mad Season. but that's any band who pulls a cover, they never sound as good as the original. bet ya knew that tho. great handle there. i too love Chains and Pantera. (rest in peace Layne and Dime, we know its dime time in Heaven and i bet you and Layne have one hell of a band up there!!!)

  • I'm actually surprised that the audience knew the song actually.

  • Same here.

  • What the hell is that supposed to mean? lol.

  • good job on this one but... Nah! The original's too good.

  • sweet i was there that night... great show. I love seether and they give mad props to their inspirations through their covers. loved this live.

  • Seether covers "Nutshell" a lot too but this is the first time I heard them mention Layne by name. MAD PROPS!!!

  • watchyasmokin?

  • it possess the level of emotion and passion, the few wrong words don't even matter........

  • good cover but it would be even better if he got the words right... but none the less a good cover...

  • not that it matters, but seether just got some huge respect from me for playing this...

  • great cover

  • I'm sure Layne smiled when he heard this. Not just Seether's cover. But that all these years later, the crowd still knows the words and is singing it back. Awesome vid. RIP Layne. I'm sure your wings weren't denied anymore.

  • way cool to see honor of layne hes often forgotten but he deserves our respect

  • a pretty good job on the vocals.some of the words were wrong.but hey its rock n roll

  • Layne Staley owns all greatest singer of my time, and I think if anything he is second to Freedy if not he tops him with that crazy harmonizing he pulled off for so many songs

  • whos freedy?

  • Freedy mercury from Queen

  • Its Freddy Mercury, dumbass.

  • why dont u jus shut up and enjoy the song huh?

  • which buzzfest was this, and who else was on the bill?

  • LOL he got the words all wrong.....

A waist tied to my waist???

Pull off my skin and buy some time?

    LOL wow.....

    Good performance though...

  • Does anyone know where to find this version of the song?

  • I have an mp3 of them doing it!

  • awsum night

  • totally rockin sound this video is amazing the crowd sounds good rock on

  • wow.. this song sounds so great...

  • Amazing version by Shaun Morgan!

  • love these guys and wow coverin layne's songs wow amazin

  • i love this song

    god this is good

  • yeah you def cant feel the emotion, hahah. you serious? shaun makes covers his own..not to mention his range is redic. only one that should touch 90s shit is Morgan.

  • FUCKING LOVE SEETHER TO DEATH !!!!

    AMAZING SONG !!!

    Bex

    xxxx

  • Shaun does a great job doing this song. Layne is a god, and an angel. When I first heard this version, I wouldn't believe if i didn't see it.

  • id have to say kevin AIC you are a dumbass this song is no more Layne Staley's song than anyone else in Mad Season's he may sing it but I hate to tell you the point of a cover is to play a song in your way not the way of the original shawn morgan is one of the best singers around today his range is ridiculous so go and lick jerry cantrell's balls or something until you know what you're talking about

  • Sorry eni, nice try to get us worked up, i agree with metallica921. Shaun is a great singer and i can understand you cant see anyone else playing this as a cover. But this one rocked!...i cant stop playing it on my guitar..all i know is McCready is a God for writing this song..

  • Jerry Cantrell should be shot for doing an "Alice in Chains" reunion with some halfass fucker to do Layne's spot...That was just fuckin pathetic.

  • do you realiza that layne would have wanted jerry to keep the band going. it wasnt half assed. duvall isnt the best but jerry was able to keep the band alive FOR Layne.

  • perfectly put

  • @seethermaniac I didnt realize that. Did you know him or something to have this kind of "insider" info?

  • @seethermaniac fuck duvall aaron lewis should have been asked b4 that douche, or they cantrel should just lead, cantrell has a good voice

  • no,no some songs you just dont try to cover this song is Layne's no one else can touch it, but I like the fact he wasn't scared to do an attempt

  • I think shaun morgan is about the only artist now that could even attempt to touch this song. Rip to a one of a kind. It is a very good cover.

  • fucking amazing voice

  • He messed up the lyrics..."pull of my skin" is sang in the second verse before "and swim to shore," not the verse with before "and buy some time." He still did a great job, however, I think he tried to sound like Layne too much, but great job none the less.

  • sorry for the repeat comment, didn't scroll down far enough.

  • You dont think he meant to do that?

  • he did pretty good, considering this is one hard fucking song to sing, layne had one of those one of a kind voices

  • Great song by the best rock and roll singer of all time...However this guys absolutely butchers it!

  • Good cover, he mixed the lyrics at the begining. It's "cut of my pride" instead of "cut off my skin". However, There's sort of a quality in Shaun's voice, a raspiness in his voice, or whatever you want to call it, that just gave it this great edge." I hope seether keeps on going.

  • Dale is playing guitar. He always plays the covers and plays Broken.

  • Nice cover ... Grunge Rules...

  • Great cover. He did get the lyrics mixed up a few times.

  • Damn good voice....guitar..sweet...damn I miss Layne's voice...R.I.P Layne.

  • wow amazin

  • does anyone know who was palying guitar here?

Seen these guys in concert more then once and they are great!...What a voice on him!.....

  • I didn't know Seether was grunge-related. This sounds good...!

  • Shaun is THE mAn!! he can turn any song into a remake and a hit!.Love Seether!!!

  • that was a damn good cover.

  • Laynes the fuckin man.

  • this is really good cover

  • Its so great when people pay there respect to a great rock legend. I think its goods

  • These guys sound good live...More band than not sound crappy live...but , these guys sound as they do on the cd.

  • Hell Yeah. Go Shaun!!!!!!

  • I hate it when people say stuff like "Not bad...but it's got nothing on the original"...Well that's because they didn't write it.

    Have respect.

  • @TrentJD exactly hes paying respect to layne as he says man its just real life stop looking for something and enjoy the music. Thats why this world is fucked to much concern in if you are better than someone or something grow up and smile.

  • @TrentJD How is it disrespectful to say that? It's someones opinion of the song they just viewed. This version does suck! and your right they surely didnt write this song and it shows. IMHO

    Get a grip.

  • Goddamnit...I still love to hear this and watch it here. The Buzz is kinda a shitty station, but at least so the profit says~play this!! I like 99.5 Kiss in San Antonio

  • if theres anyone who has done layne any type of justice, its william duvall and this guy.

  • No Duvall has done no justice but im glad bands like puddle of mud seether and aaron lews remember the pioneers that got them here touching that seether did this what a brilliant song band R.I.P. Layne miss ya man

  • I love you!!, finally, someone agrees with me. You're my hero~seriously man

  • I was there. whoohoo!

  • Eh, not bad. But it's got nothing on the original.

  • thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis is sooooo fucking awesome!!!! =)

saw seether few years ago unplugged infront of maybe 200 people! =) .. they dicided to play unplugged cause shaun was ill and could not scream!!! was fucking awesome =) .. and two years later i saw them again infront of maybe 300 people here in switzerland!! .. just aaaaaaaaaaaaaaawesome!!!! ^^

  • I was there but I was back on the lawn by the mosh pit.

  • man i went there but left early to avoid traffic, this is the song we walked out on, i was sitting like 20 rows from the stage it was so badass i wish i finsihed watching that song.

  • I love seether, and I wait for their new album...!

  • I was standing right by this person with the camera! haha. I can hear me yelling haha.

  • I was there too and at first I wasn't sure they were the right closing band, but damn they proved me wrong and totally rocked out!!!

  • I was there too...awesome show!!

  • good shot here..you had some great seats..did yall notice him mix up the words at 1:27 , then again at 1:37

  • yeah he mixed the two chorus' up. he was supposed to say that verse im the second chorus.

  • AWESOME i WAS THERE GREAT COVER !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very cool...man I wish I was there, but had to work
