I heard Micky Ward was helped by Lowell, MA boxing coach David Ortiz in his amatuer days. Not many people bring that up at times. Those are the coaches who make your foundation in boxing. Micky is a great guy, he helped a boxing gym in Arroyo, Puerto Rico and donated Everlast boxing equipment. How many Irish boxers can you say have done that? None that I know of. Mickey O'Keefe is also a great trainer/ conditioner.

wickey ward was never great. He was an good for an amateur, but the toughest person he fought was arturo gatti. and no offense to gatti either, but he was never a great boxer. he had the heart of a lion though.
