If your pulling with it then fuck yes you want black smoke at low rpm, thats telling you your engine has enough fuel and when the turbo spools up let her loose and it will mostly clear up! I have been pulling this truck for years and im only 25...nice lookin truck man
I would get that overfueling problem fixed before it causes more damage to the cylinders, the injectors, diesel pump and EGR and turbo! You are injecting much more diesel than can be used so DECREASING performance. SMOKE=BROKE.
A correctly tuned engine does NOT SMOKE. It burns the max amount of fuel & air that fits in to the cylinder. The unburnt diesel causes the DPF, CAT, TURBO etc to block.
@urbex2007 smoke doesnt =broke. look at any cummins even ones that are 1000hp they will always smoke, even a stock cummins or duramax even powerstroke will smoke. but once the turbo spools it matches the air to fuel and clears out all the smoke...... and im sure he took off the stupid cat and dpf when he but dual exhaust on his truck. read up on your shit if you knew anything a dpf and a cat will cause a diesel to run like shit because they get clogged up with soot.

Black Smoke = Unburnt fuel, meaning the motor is being overfueled and can't burn it all and that actually takes away from the power the truck is making. And if you do have a truck that smokes like you say it does and with 480 HP, then maybe you need to have it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing, if you have your truck tuned right to where you only smoke a bit, you'll prolly be pushing 500+.
