@200cyprian the only time i right click is when that big menu pops up in the middle of the screen and i use that to choose between scale, move, and rotate. but you can also find all of those tools on the top bar if you dont want to right click.
@staboymalibu94 if you mean how do you make him move then you will have to rig him. use the biped tool to make a puppet like controller for the mesh. for an example just search for "how to rig a biped in 3ds max" or somethong.
holy shit are you showing us how to do something or what ur going so fast u cant even see what your doing and you should be talking us through this so we understand not play retarted music no offense but u lost me at connect
@Trunedk you realize the word humanoid refers to anything that has human characteristics such as being bipedal, no wings, similar skeletal structure. this model is truly humanoid. if it was a box or a teapot then maybe you would have an argument. and yes this model was made for an alien character.
its very impressive about how long did it take you to make it
Did you learn how to do it in a class or did you just figure it out on your own?
this is my first year with max and I'm sure to make good use of this tutorial hopefully i can get it started and finished over the weekend so i can use it in my portfolio project
@axeamnas thank you, i have never taken a class. i just play with it in my free time. i do get advice from friends of mine who do it professionally tho. this model took me about 6 hours i think.
@007Mrpedro earlier in the video i applied a "symmetry" modifier. the only thing that happens at 3:39 was i had clicked the button just under the modifier window to the right of the button that looks like a tack. it looks kinda like a test tube to me. that shows end result. which means it shows what the object will look like when all the modifiers are applied. i click it again at 5:19.
@LasseLundster just wanted to show my method like using symmetry. all you need to make a human model is a rough grasp of method to get started. and i rigged it fine.... why? as long as you have the subdivision tessellation you can use ether skin or physique modifier and just make some minor vert influence tweaks
@ballr4lyfe in order to animate any character model you need to rig it with a skeleton controller and apply a modifier. ether a skin or physique modifier will work. look up "biped rigging 3ds max tutorial part 1" on youtube for help. its by videofxuniverse
@muskee03 im not sure how familiar you are with the interface, but in the modify tab there is a "symmetry" modifier you can apply to the model. that will mirror everything you do to the one side to the other. let me know if you need me to describe where it is.
ok, so I have a question, Its kinda dull... but For some reason everytime I try to move an object, I don't have the arrows appearing.. I have the "move object" button selected, but It won't show the arrows to move the item along the axis's like it used to... Anyone know how to fix this?
I'm not sure, once I got the program (free 30 day trial) the arrows were always there, but after like 3-4 days it just stopped when I was messing around with the buttons... so do you have any idea on how I can fix this mess?
Hey nevermind! I found it out! it took me a while but I found out if you Hold down the left clicker while holding on to an object, than pressing X makes the arrows Disapear or reappear. Thanks for trying anyways mate.
if you click the button under the modifier tree and just to the right of the one that looks like a tack, it will show the end result of the modifier stack no matter where in the tree you are working. the button looks kinda like a test tube
I'm guessing you just mirrored the object to get the other side? That part was pretty fast, so its just my guess. Correct me if I'm wrong, I would be happy to know.
yes, right from the start i put a symmetry modifier on the object. i have it turned off most of the time, untill the end to see what it looks like all together.
In da perspective view square, u coulda had edged faces activated, so we could see da edges. It'd have made things a little easier 4 some of us 2 understand, especially myself, since I'm still learnin' 2 model humanoids.
helped me ALOT thank you man !!

wtf man
u skiped from arms to human
i hate you!
LioNOHEart 5 months ago
The problem with the way you model is that your topology does not follow the muscle flow. So, when you rig it, you may get some weird distortions.
But thats the kind of thing you learn with time. Keep up the good work.

@SewerShark very true, thanks for the tip.

when i go to model, i click on symmetry, set it up, then when i go back to editable mesh, the other side dissapears, how do i make it so it dosent?
btw great tut, 10/10

if you click the button under the modifier tree and just to the right of the one that looks like a tack, it will show the end result of the modifier stack no matter where in the tree you are working. the button looks kinda like a test tube
