Dan's youthful voice is my favorite Dan through the years. His voice is less polished, less even, more vulnerable, and all the more amazing because of this. Such a special soul...
Dan's youthful voice is my favorite Dan through the years. His voice is less polished, less even, more vulnerable, and all the more amazing because of this. Such a special soul...
One of three of my all time favorite vocalists and people!! His music was mesmerizing and took me out of myself into a dreamy place...how I miss him!! (My other two favs are Karen Carpenter and Emmylou Harris)
I was introduced to Dan Fogelberg's music in college. My 2 favorites were "Stars" & "Wisteria". I was always amazed how his best songs weren't commercially successful.
This was the first song I ever heard of Dan's. What a beautiful gem. What a beautiful soul. 2AM, Many years after ... we all still remember and love you Dan. ~B~
I was lucky enough to see Dan 7 times, 6 in Colorado, and the last was in 2002 in Las Vegas. I will never forget that show, my wife was pregnant with my first born, and Dan broke a string, and the string flipped up and cut his eyebrow, he began bleeding, but just finished the song, it was awesome. Never in my life has a complete stranger had such an impact in my life. He is missed, but not forgotten, both of my kids have his songs on their IPODS, lol.
I so so love this Song by Dan, one of the first songs I heard by him, when I was a College Student and all of 17-18-now 51-still listen to his music Always.
What a tremendous talent he had and poetry- there are no words for me to describe him or his music.
This song makes me cry at times.
Ever On to sweet, brilliant-muscian-poet Dan in Heaven and to ALL Dan Fans everywhere.
Thank you for posting this remarkable song that has haunted me for many years...I first heard it in the 70's and sang it probably every day in my head since.
ummm. OMG _ I TOOK THE PHOTO at 1:06!!!! How did you get this? How incredible!!! I took it at the Schaefer Music Festival in Central Park - in 1975? 76? Umm.. I'm flipping out!
Wow. All the way back to "Home Free" in the 1970's. Beautiful memories from hearing Dan sing this to seeing his pictures. Thank you. He will live on forever through all of the beautiful music he created and shared with us. Just Perfect! 10 Stars!!!
This is by far my favorite song and I think this is his best album...and I have them all. :) There is something wonderful about his voice and spirit...he is greatly missed and forever remembered
But wouldn't you agree, if it weren't for the "Beautiful," music and lyrics Dan shared with all of us, it wouldn't have been so easy to express my sentiments.
I have LOVED this song since it was released! Thank you for this! I will be a loyal DanFan for the rest of my life! His rendition of If I Were A Carpenter is beyond words! His Stewball too! Seeing him in person performing To The Morning in a white sportcoat at a white piano in Indy will always be a HIGH point in my life! Wish he would have performed Stars in a live concert that I had gone to! Wow, he was the best... still is! I take his music wherever I go! Let It Shine, My Friend, Let It Shine!
Que bueno es escuchar a DAn tan joven y espontaneo en su canto. Lamento que haya muerto -aunque yo no creo en la muerte !- creo que Dan sigue encontrando música en otro lugar!!. . gracias por la grabación.
Donna there are no words adequate to describe how beautiful this is. I love this live performance, Dan's voice is so amazing. And what you've done with the photos and graphics, well, let's just say I'm still weeping. It's so beautiful. Thank you friend.
This was the 1st album I ever owned and I have to say that til this very day, Stars remains my favorite DF song. As bad luck would have it, Hurricane Ivan & then Dennis destroyed our computer room and I lost my most treasured "Home Free" album.
This is just priceless. One of Dan's most magical songs and a live performance at the same time. Thank you so much for sharing this. Beautiful images too.
We were there too! asquare176 and I! It was a wonderful and memorable night. Especially Jim Photoglo! His obvious sorrow made me cry! I know I will never forget it. God bless you,Dan!!

I just have to keep revisiting this. It's a stellar (okay, pun intended) performance and the artwork is so perfect. That and the song holds many a special memory for me personally; it never fails to fill my heart to overflowing.
It is still hard to believe he passed. Jeanne has been kind enough to update some photos on Dan's website...there is a great photo and explanation of Dan ice skating (after his dx and treatment). He looks really great in it..even though he was weakened. Take a look. Greg
I looked this song up sometime ago and it wasn't posted. This live audio version is a found treasure. Thankyou for posting this beautiful ballad by a beautiful soul...
This is my second favorite song of all time. But, my favorite is "Since You've Asked". All of his songs were beautiful, but to me, this was the most beautiful. I married in 1979 and had it sung at my wedding. Now, my 23year old daughter wants it her wedding too. I used to play his songs on the piano, it was actually the only reason I wanted to learn to play - was to play his songs.... I can't believe he's gone... it's unbelieveably sad. His songs will be carried in my heart until I die...
He told me once how much this song embarrassed him, of course, he was 49 then, and when he wrote it, I think at around 16 or 18, naturally his perspective was different. I told him that the song could be embarrassing for a middle-aged man, but it reminded this middle-aged woman of a boy named Mark and a very exciting if bittersweet time in her growing up years. He got a kick out of that. Thanks for sharing this!
What a beautiful person this world has lost. The words, the voice, the music...Dan was certainly one of the greatest talents of our time. I miss him each and every day.
A magic man, a magic voice and a master musician. We'll miss him more than ever as we "progress" through these trying times. This song was/is my favorite of all his songs. It touch my heart deeply. Bless you, Dan.
What an amazing voice/song/artist. He was one of the few truly inspirational artists who influenced so many others, myself included. On the day of his passing, I was guitar teching a concert for the L.A. based band "Venice". Dan was a huge influence for them, so when we learned of his passing, it was suggested that "Stars" be put in the set. They hadn't done it in years, but right in the middle of the set, my boss started playing it. It's a pretty cool version. Search; "Venice Stars"
Thanks for the recording. It's awesome. This makes me smile and sad at the same time.Hey Beggars, you don't have a live recording of Be on Your Way from Home Free? Home Free is a very special album done by a very special man, that deserved more recognition.
Another rare treat. Hearing or seeing anything by such a low profile person as Dan Fogelberg is special. Home Free needs to be recognized more now than ever for its unique quality of heart and soul.
Wow, great images, this was done so well. Thank you so much, I hope Dan wins many more fans with these videos, this song is surely one of my favorites.

Hey that was great! Dan sounds so good without all the usual over-production on his records and proves the greatness of his songwriting. Homefree was such a great album because it wasn't over-produced. Thanks for posting this.....

Excellent! Well done montage, too! Stars was the first fingerpicked song I ever played in front of anyone besides my mirror, so it holds a lot of memories for me as well. Thanks for sharing this live version!
Holy Moly!! What an amazing find and post Donna. It left me totally in shock to hear Stars...live, when Dan was just 23!! And the images you use are just as wonderful.
