I think you were looking for the word "sarcastic"....no, I am not being sarcastic.
The Beatles started by scratch playing together, then kicked Pete Best out..replaced him with Ringo who none knew and couldn't sing. Payed girls to scream and chase them, and made their own set of movies and cartoons. They were also fabricated and commercialized with bobble heads, lunchboxes, and bed sheets.
@BrightStaroftheDawn no disrespect, but you are balmy. the beatles were the standard at the time. they opened the flood gates to all that great music. 60's rock and roll is the best and lives on.
Well, imo, they were a part of it, not the head of it.
I guess it's just different taste in music when it boils down to it, between the B's and the M's.
I will say though, the band with their heart into it's music is by far the Rolling Stones. Yes, they are getting a tad wrinkly, but one can't deny the commitment, and of course we must mention Golden Earring, too.( I just like R'ng S's better)
No one know the day or the hour death comes .I love the monkees from my childhood ... Ask Jesus to forgive your sins He is just and faith to do this ...

What a shame. At least he died in his sleep. Which I l know is of absolutely no consolation for his loved ones. I'd forgotten they were on The One Show last year. You can see the chemistry. But no Michael Nesmith
I've noticed that barrel-chested men have heart problems 'early on'. Davey didn't used to be so, but developed such later. Just an observation noticed over the years. No disrespect intended toward him or his family.
RIP Davy Jones. I was lucky enough to see The Monkees at the Royal Albert Hall last year and it was a great, fun show! Another legend gone way too soon... :(

I don't think its just about getting old that's their problem, Maybe they didn't care about taking care of themselves. Davy Jones and Peter Tork are assholes in real life by the way.
@thatbamadude I didn't know Davy Jones and Peter Tork are like that. They sure fooled me all this time. They don't socialize either according to David Jones. They just perform together but don't hang out.
That makes two of them. In an interview Peter says he thinks he has attention deficit disorder, and that his sister agrees with him. It seems more obvious that Micky might have ADHD
Davy Jones has the same rare accent as Graham Nash, though unsurprisingly as they both were brought up in Manchester and then spent most of their time in the US since the late '60s
Amazing luck for the BBC to find Alex Jones as she looks SO much like Christine Bleakley that no wonder they snapped her up for this. She even makes the same faces as her. She is lovely as well though
I know that Mike never needed the money, having inherited $90 million from his mother, who invented Liquid Paper, but it would have been great if he had wanted to be with them, as well.
I seen them live on June 12th at Niagara FallsView Casino/Resort (my papà wanted to take me) At first I was thinking well they're not from my era and I might not like it Even though I did know a few of their songs....
But was I WRONG the concert was not boring....it was AMAZING!! Definitely I would go see them again =)
@Torkgasmicgirl8 Other interesting interviews are 'the Monkees on People are talking' 'The Monkees on Clive James talks back 1997' '14th annual American music awards'. Tour cancelled THAT SUCKS.

@MechoMadness My friend, check Youtube for klbax63's covers of the Monkees tunes "The Girl That I Knew Somewhere", "You Just May Be The One", and "What Am I Doing Hangin' Round". This Dallas TX phenomenon by the name of Kevin L Baxter is sooo excellent that I and many others swore it was Mike Nesmith singing! Check him out and you'll surely agree with the rest of the responses on Youtube, then email the Monkees and let them know that Kevin is absolutely perfect to step in as Mike on tour!
Thanks for that. He's really very good, the audio likeness is uncanny.
But...
Michael Nesmith is alive and well. I find the idea of three genuine Monkees, plus a Nesmith sound-alike, slightly poor taste. May as well go and see a tribute band. Sorry.
@MechoMadness total bull.......mike wrote great songs, true, but mickey had the best rock voice and pete was the better guitar player 9theoretically -- i.e. they hardly let him play it)..........but, yes, it's sad mike has to be the killjoy.
why do these people still worry about all that old garbage?who cares about who plays on what, well today nearly all the so called superstars mime live, britny, rhianna, madonna, and dont get me started on about autotune.
@sshelget It's probably more to do with the surgery he had for the cancer. They had to literally crack his jaw open so, when they fixed him up, I think it effected his speech slightly.
@sshelget ,deadite87 "It's probably more to do with the surgery he had for the cancer. They had to literally crack his jaw open so, when they fixed him up, I think it effected his speech slightly." your probably right, it was toung cancer, wasn't it?
How many times has Davy said "never agian!" haha...well I think this is good news even though I dont live the live sound these days I wouldnt begrudge them playing shows.I like that they still can and certianly should for the fans! What I want is the Japan68 or any official live from 1969 to officially come out.
@DumbSnowGuy we are never going to agree on this! Why can't you just accept the fact that they are touring and that we as fans get to see them and enjoy their music one more time maybe for the last time. So let's enjoy it and I also know from others that they are NOT assholes!!
I think it's all overblown that they dont like each other. They keep coming back together for tours so they must have love for one another in some way. It's been a decade since they have been together so this is special and could be the last time ever. Let's face it they are all in their 60's approaching 70 but they all look great. Glad to see Peter has recovered from the cancer. Mike should be with them also. Life is too short and he should be with these guys plain and simple.
Oh please please please come to the United States!!!!!!!! The last time I saw you guys was at the World Trade Center. Peter - I'm so glad you're okay now and well enough to tour. And Micky - I love your new CD!!!!!! I bought it for myself and for three of my friends!!!!!! Can't wait to see you guys!!!!!!
@DumbSnowGuy so they're touring for the money there is nothing wrong with that. We go and see them because we love the music. We love the guys and for me personally this is something that I have longed for for many years. All credit to them
I've been a big fan in the past and saw enough of them in the recent past shows, but won't go anymore. It's true, it is only for the money they are doing it. Peter is being honest. It's also not news that they really don't like each other. So why would anyone want to see them now? Guess some people don't care and just want to go hear those songs. I'll still go see Peter's blues band stuff, but that's it.
I have my fingers crossed that they might come to Australia ... Had Lunch with Micky from A Ebay auction ...What a Guy and great stories !! ... Thanks for posting this !! ... If you want to see one of the best monkees collections of memorabillia..check it out on my videos ... _
@theLaNDoftheLOOPS I don't know if it's available on vinyl or only on CD but there's an solo album called "Stranger Things Have Happened" and I think there's an Shue Suede Blues CD
@Dumbsnowguy they are only trying to make a living like all of us are. There are alot of fans that are very happy that they are touring again and can't wait to see them!
I have at least half of the stuff on that memorabilia table.... I feel special. ^_^ And they didn't say much about Mike did they? I'd enjoy it if he came along on tour, but I'd also understand if he didn't want to.
Thanks so much for posting this, deadite87! I had heard about this appearance and hoped I would get a chance to see it. Nice job of editing, too, and so nice that Peter, Micky and Davy got to stay on the show for the duration, it looks like. Peter was so good at that trivia game -- way to go!
@TheBestLoser001 By "us", I assume you mean the States and they are planning to tour there as well. There are already some venues announced I believe, they probably want to see how well they go down over here before they really work on the US leg of the tour.
I can't wait to see the guys when they come to the states! That being said, Davy doesn't look happy, Peter and Micky look and sound excited. I hope they can get along long enough to complete the tour.
@mrsblc So it wasn't just me who noticed Davy's having a mood again. I seriously don't know why he is this moody and it gets worse the older he gets. I guess it's a contradiction thing he loves that he gets the attention and new fans but also feels he's put upon to have to perform even though this is who he is and loved for and still is good at it. He should be happy he is not that wipe out who cannot sing anymore that nobody remembers who forces himself on an audience who doesn't care
They seem like such cool guys. RIP Davy.

So much drama in the group, that..

....it was hard to enjoy the music without thinking about John and Yoko all the time.
The music made no sense and seemingly slapped together, imo. The M's lyrics hit you in the heart. You felt the music.
The only Beatle that had any harmony in music was George, and they never let him surface.
Yeah, I like the M's, they kept their private lives out of the industry a lot better, and I am sure they didn't have to pay the girls.

Peter Tork seems a bit put out by The Mickster, doesn't he?
Probably not his best day, i'view-wise.

@TheBestLoser001 By "us", I assume you mean the States and they are planning to tour there as well. There are already some venues announced I believe, they probably want to see how well they go down over here before they really work on the US leg of the tour.

@deadite87 they'll be in the US I'm going to see them in Hershey, PA on June 20
