Please tell me how Silversun Pickups' Carnavas got a 5.0 from Pitchfork and how TPOBPAT's "Belong" got an 8.2. Both are very similar records in style, and I honestly much prefer "Carnavas" and "Swoon" over "Belong."

@Hockyluv21 I can explain that very easily. Silversun Pickups, while they do have a handful of masterpieces, are not a consistently good band. On the other hand, every single song that The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have come out with are solid. It's masterpiece after masterpiece. Now, don't get me wrong, half the time I completely disagree with Pitchfork's reviews, but I think they got it just right with this one. It's all subjective anyway. Lazy Eye is a full blown masterpiece though!

It's because The Smashing Pumpkins is a major influence on the band, not to mention the album being produced by the Flood/Alan Moulder tandem. It's similar, but not a ripoff. Great band.
