My 09 corolla does this at a cold start up.. I was told it was caused by a dry start .. No oil pushed up due to a bad timing chain tensioner .... Is this true ???
Look under the air filter cover for v6 engines. Called evap purge control valve. Other engenes have the same or similar shape. Haynes Manuel page chapter 6, 6-17
The question still remain if it's normal to tick like that. If it's not broke don't fix it. ;-)
@6spdSC4 Volkswagens are long known for having a slow oil pressure build from cold startup through the oil pump throughout the engine. Those engines do not have a secondary oil delivery system to the upper engine parts during cold starts as other Japanese companies(Nissan, Isuzu, Subaru) have incorporated this vital secondary lubricating system design since the 60's. That sound are the dry lifters and valves rubbing against each other waiting for the oil to come up.(premature wear)
maybe it's just me, but it sounds like your retarded friend, at one time, had a beard, then recently shaved it and now it looks like he's constantly smiling.
it's amazing how much i can detect by simply hearing his voice...
