True story, I listened to this and right when the big massive machine gun madness kicked in, i was banging head so hard that when i hit my head on the desk i had a goose egg the size of a golf ball.
Whoa @4:00! I like Meshuggah a lot, but they really suck when the play leads live. Frederik doesnt even play the second solo the way it sounds on the album, and it already sounded kind of like improvised wankery.
I normally despise metal, mainly for it's linear nature. But I don't think I've ever been so captivated by a band since I first heard The Mars Volta. Meshuggah is something other worldly, on a whole other level. I must see them live.
This song has the best breakdown of ALL TIME, they should show the death core bands how its done haha and the best part is that theyre Prog Metal haha
Anyone else think that the breakdown at 3:33 is possibly the heaviest single bit of music ever recorded? Imagine this song re-recorded with the 8-stringers! That moment was probably the best concert moment of my life. 13th October, 2008 - Meshuggah in Sydney, Fuck yes!
@AChildOfBodom667 These guys are an amazing band......being a drummer myself for twenty plus years......they are just amazing!!!!!! I saw them live when the played with Tool!!! what a show that was!!!!
I wish they would re-record all of their older stuff whether they use the 8 strings or not... since the sound quality would be so much better... I miss the old thrash metal Meshuggah... some of their new stuff is ok, but it's pretty mind numbing... the songwriting is nowhere near what it was back in the Contradictions Collapse, Destroy Erase Improve and Chaosphere days... it's like two different bands between now and then.
@DeEzriel I totally agree. I remember when I bought Destory Erase Improve and shitted myself. That got me hooked on Meshuggah. The CC and None, which None EP with Sickening and Humilitive, being somke of the craziest shit ever. But now they are on this whole, crazy time signatures and really low guitars. Not my favorite, but still good.
@AChildOfBodom667 SAME HERE!!!!!!!!! March 24,1999 LOUDEST SICKEST SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN...Oh did i mention Slayer was the Headliners yeah SICKEST SHOW EVER!!!!!!!!
@whenMomorulzhisworld Wrong. Go listen to Death's The Sound of Perseverance released in 1998 and tell me that Destroy Erase Improve is the most technical album
Oh mate, I so hope they play this when i see them in april! long live metal \m/
