Eric I'm not sure if you've tried Garage Band before but it offers a lot more than the audio editor from Aviary. It also offers support for MIDI devices.

Some rather powerful cloud computing from Aviary here. As long as one is happy with cloud computing and an internet connection... One doesn't need full-blown OS X or Windows. Chrome OS, Moblin or similar on a cheap netbook would work just fine for this.

I really find it funny how some of the comments are giving their recommendations for alternatives to Photoshop. Over half of the software recommendations mentioned so far are Mac Only apps, and they arent even free alternatives, just trying to cash in on the Photoshop train. LOL. Not the first time Apple has did something to their OS that caused software to fuck up and cause developers to rewrite their software just to make it function. Or maybe its that Apple conspiracy to block all 3rd party support on their systems, and make the consumer come to them for said type of product.

If you're browsing a single website, Google Chrome uses the least amount of memory and CPU resources compared to the other popular browsers.

However, if you have multiple websites open at the same time, Chrome uses more memory and CPU resources because it treats each opened website as a separate browser. Therefore, if a website crashes your browser, it won't take down the other websites you have open.

You can test this out yourself.

View the performance charts, Safari is nr1 in everything 8 times faster then IE8, 4 times faster then Firefox and thats Safari on Windows, on a mac its 50% faster. And yes I know that to be true from experience of using browers and I trust Apple hasnt tampered with the results

Futuremark has a browser benchmark test, and at the moment, Chrome 3.0 beats Safari. The test does strike me as odd, seeing how the Chrome 3.0 running on AMD processor is shit, while Safari 4.0 on AMD is near the Intel counterparts. So I dunno if these tests for Chrome were done on a shitty AMD or not.

IE is low on the list because it didnt do the exact same tests as Chrome did.
