  • p.s. i don't know what genius means really, but i think rza and the keys have a great irreverent attitude. look up Bruce Mau's "Incomplete Manifesto for Growth"... totally blew my mind

  • hip hop sampling isn't about musical correctness. samples from different keys, pitch them to get them in time and fool around until it sounds good (which IS correct). so a bit of ropey guitar playing is actually a pretty safe starting point. i think this is one of the most fun projects i've seen in a long time and is actually pretty rock and roll compared to a lot of other stuff i'm hearing that sounds like people were working within their comfort zones. feeling pretty inspired right now

  • this is straight wutang. fuck ya RZA!

  • RZA the genius... This just proves it?

  • dope!

  • This dude is a genius! So underrated...people don't even know that he does a whole bunch film scores, songs for rock musicians, etc. Yeah, he can't play guitar that well, but what he has in his mind is pure genius...

  • 2:06 RZA: Yeah I got it!

  • "What you wanna play, Bass? Guitar?"

    "Either one... and shit"

    Always cracks me up

  • Genius!!

  • What synth is that at 1:15???

  • What synth is that at 1:15

  • rza is one of the few producers that can create his own samples. he doesnt have to be the best player. just lay down a line that he can sample. and btw, he plays 9 instruments just good enough to accomplish what he needs. he's a producer, not a full blown musician.

  • Wu in the Building

  • Can someone tell me about this series? The Black Keys work together with Hip Hop artists to make an album!?

  • @Hainrich96 it was a project from 2009. it's more or less a spontaneous album, where the black keys had made a couple of beats, like in this style of Blues, Hip Hop what ev, dunno how to call it. and they invited mostly rappers and other musicians from new york to rap over it or sing. and it was all written one the moment they got there - recorded and it was done.

  • @elcattiv0 Thanks for Response! Helped me out alot! : ))

  • coughs right into the mic lol

  • what? you guys never heard "grits", one of rza's best tracks, who do you think played the guitar sample on that one? RZA knows what he's doin'... even if it doesn't sound like it at first

  • hahaha RZA fucking smoked these boys, comes in picks up the guitar and pumps in a killer lick. And don't get it twisted, I love the Keys, fucking geniuses...they just can't touch Bobby Digital hah

  • this album is the sickest musical tease of the decade. they NEED to make a second one and invite so many other. we're hungry for it.

  • I CAN'T BELIEVE THESE VIDEOS EXIST!!! It's the kind of thing you fantasize about being able to see while listening to an album.

  • "you smokin with the rza?. apparently." i wish i had the opportunity to be asked that question...

  • @RKfMaster I was going to say the same.

  • Rza knows what he's doing

  • Get it rza and the product was money in the end

  • nobody does crack

  • RZA is a genius, GZA is not the RZA...gotta lov da GZA, 1 of the best MC's to ever walk the planet period! But this with Black Keys is truly a work of ART...RZA knows best! fuck Hogan

  • RZA are the high groove!

  • Black Keys and RZA, what do you expect? 100% talent

  • "gotta get into my spirtual zone" they laughed because its RZA not because its funny

  • sounds like an al green riff but grittier.

  • He made this track fit him perfect by creating the track around himself with that small solo part.

  • such a underratted lp

  • damn good

  • such an awesome album

  • Goddamn, both of these beats are incredible.

  • Fuck yeah, the Wu' & the Keys together? <3

  • Check out new WU MUSIC artist GAB GOTCHA's new music video---search----LATINOS PRESENTE SQUARE DEAL

    RZA Co signed!

  • The first time I watched this I cringed hard when RZA started playing guitar. I think I said " Oh noo what are you doing?!" out loud to myself because it sounded so awkward and awful especially when a really good guitarist is standing 2 feet away...then I heard the end result and remembered that RZA is a fucking genius and this is a great example of why that is. He hears things that other people don't. Real cool to see the song being created like that, from nothing to something great.

  • @RedClayBiscuit couldn't have said it better my friend

  • @RedClayBiscuit Eh, he really didn't play that well anyways in the long run. You can hear how much of it was edited out, and only a little bit was used. He needs to leave the guitar playing to Dan and stick to the rapping.

  • @KingofFunk412 eh, I think you completely missed the point, he said in the beginning he would just play a few awkward licks and they could pull out something small and build on it, it wasn't meant for them to keep the whole thing...

  • @RedClayBiscuit the following two posts only makes sense if the second one's read first

  • @RedClayBiscuit he clearly isnt the greatest player, but what he comes out with on the beat at the end is crazy dope, same way, I really cant even play anything on guitar but ive made some dope shit lol.

  • @RedClayBiscuit fosho! if you heard what he said before thats exactly what he was going for. he wanted to play some awkwards licks they could build around. with cut and paste on the loops with a computer and some software, it becomes an easy science. build it with the rza and the black keys and its some mad science!

  • @RedClayBiscuit lol same thing man, i knew he had played a guitar so that gave me a little hope. What turned out was a sexy as lick man

  • @RedClayBiscuit oh come on. It's not genius. It's a simple riff with simple editing.

  • wu tang's style lives on!

  • RZA a true musical genius

  • Real talk you can't dislike this video on any level It's got everything you need right there, Weed, Music, Star power come on Rza chokin on a spliff . Massive

  • Thanks so much for upload.

  • damn.. that shit is STUPID

  • damn could anyone be cooler than rza

  • this 5 person are AssWholes

  • ewwww that track is dope where can i get that at?

  • @hiphoplivs it's call dollaz & sense, on blakroc album

  • 5 people are trying to watch this with 56kbps dial up

  • the absolute master slayer of all disciplines within hip hop music

  • 5 people fucked up.

  • the black keys with the rza is my dream come true

  • The RZA is great!

  • you have to admire the audacity of a rapper walking into a black keys session and asking them to write a beat around his guitar.

  • @charleyeother it was rediculous!

it would be cool if he came in with a sample or something, or however he made the beats from tical. like him featured on the production side more than just pickin a guitar

  • @charleyeother

rza is not just a rapper, he is also one of the greatest hip hop producers ever, and a multi-instrumentalist.

It was as much his session as theirs...but i do agree it was a bold move. But thats what makes him great.

  • rza iz my fav everything and i didn't know he could play guitar so that'z a pluz......i really enjoyed the riff he made up

  • Did RZA say he doesnt smoke blunts.......whaaaaaaa!

  • @IanChristopherJones

    no Dame Dash said that.

  • "what do you want to play? bass? guitar?"

    "either one... and shit"

  • RZA is a genius..... nuff said, Old Skool is the only skool mutha fuckas, fuck this synthesiser shit, pick up the damn instrument yo self and do somethin

  • @Mcleod2daMax lol the rest of the song is synths as you can see

  • @ruusky415 haha I know I'm generalising a little, I mean those fake ass beats that are poppin up waaaaaaaay too much nowadays in modern rap, not enough real shit

  • the end result is dope, no doubt

but you can tell by the way the producer pulls the level back on the mastered song that the TBK crew felt the RZA could have cleaned up that chord progression he put down.

All props to RZA for playing guitar, but his timings were off and it makes it sound like he's rushing to get from one chord to the next, hell, he could have at least used a pick

I get the sense that dan kinda just let RZA do his own thing simply because he's the RZA without complaint, iunno

  • @smallmantynan Yes. But it adds rawness to it. i like it.

  • @thefruitleather Yeah, a whole lot of listening to this album over and over makes me agree with you, my original comment seems silly now

  • amazing, someone ACTUALLY SAYS lil-bad aka lil wayne on this AHAHAH

  • now i get why at the start or the track he's like "got the camera pointed at me, making a movie as we do this!" lol

  • i never thought that guitar was rza just shows you what kind of artist he is

  • "yo dan....ye......u smokin with the rza?.....apparently" hahahaha what id give to smoke with the rza

  • Zig Zag Zig, A! Leg Leg Arm Head!

  • check out sticky fingaz and jay-z dissin on dame dash the REAL blackrock

  • i really like the album but its one those oh what could have been records, there are several mcs who are not on the level of the black keys, some lackluster performances(q-tip wtf?) and generally a bit unfocused.

they should have done this album just with mos def(or with Talib as Black Star Keys) or just wu-tang or just doom.

  • @Eurobubble70 you're right, they definitely should have let DOOM in on this

  • not to mention that RZA is a better M.C. then lil wayne... i found a RZA tape on the ground while i was walking home from school back in the 7th grade and now i am 27 and still RZA is better then all mainstream rappers.

  • PEACE TO THE GODS!

Harness the frequenzy and behold its mighty strength to overcome fear.

This is evidence of human peace being made.

    Peace to ALL MY HUMANS

Take us there RZA Peace God

  • Reading lyrics from his phone...yep..his BobDigi for sure! :D

  • God damn, Rza starts this shit off spitting pure fucking fire!

  • SOOOOOO SICK

  • That's how you get that publishing RZA

  • rza plays alot of instruments, he produced and made the beats for almost all the wu tracks (back in the 36 chambers days)

  • @17thchamber From samples yo, not from playing instruments.

  • thats the rarest fkn thing these days a rapper to actually play a guitar then play a guitar properly is another thing then to actually play a guitar properly like chords to suit the track then record and lastly but not elastly have it on the track big up to rza doin his growth thing

  • RZA playing a mustang. Beautiful

  • It's a Jazzmaster. But, close.

  • You smokin with tha RZA?

    Apparently!

  • would pass down a bean with him if i was in a casket

  • Blakroc - Dollaz & Sense (feat. Pharoahe Monch & RZA)

  • o.51 - that's what he said and shit

    hmmm

    classic!!

  • Rza got dem blessing fingaz.

  • what is the name of this song?

  • dollaz and sense - Blackrock

  • dope shit

  • u smoking with the rza?

  • RZA rules !

  • what kind of camera was being used for these webisodes?

  • RZA THE GOD...

  • Thats dam Cool!!!

  • I have a prediction to make.

Because of the price of sampling, and the backlash against autotune etc, there will be more of this kind of music. And soon, amongst the efforts made by different musicians, a young black guitarist will rise up and become popularised.

and he will be good, like Jimi. I can see that happening.

  • definitely, theres gonna be live instrumentation, then synth beats. Sampling is dying

  • id like to see cds with a lot of live instrumentation and samples on a few tracks just to keep em in the mix.

  • @insanevideos28 theres always rare artists that wont get you sued.

  • i can see it happening. this seems like mere coincidence. but i think the liberty they had had making it. structurally, economically power decision wise. empowerment for the Arts, outside the dumbdown, Fordist techniques of production in the Arts.

  • i dont think it'll ever die the "loop" sampling will but you can't stop a "chop" Dilla put the obvious in peoples face and people stilll couldn't determine where it came from. Also there's an increase in people playing chords or what have you then chopping them to make them appear as samples..

  • @musicman02 yeah for real. I always thought that if Jimi was still alive hip hop would be totally different once he got involved. Miles Davis too

  • @snubbs741

It happened, bro. Check out Doo Bop, by Miles Davis

  • @bunchof6 Yeah I know but he croaked before he could really get into it... if he had time for just a couple more LPs think of how far he wouldve gone

  • @snubbs741 Agreed on that. Miles should have done an album with freestyle fellowship.

  • @bunchof6 shit thta woulda been dope

  • @musicman02 oh god i hope you're right

  • @musicman02 Wrong, nobody really wants to hear guitarists anymore.

  • @leddedzephed speak for yourself. you can't speak for the masses based on your bias opinion

  • @musicman02 : price of sampling? ridiculous...sampling is only expensive if you want to get high-profile samples off of well-known records, and that's been done to death anyway. If you get together with a drummer and record breaks or one-hits straight into your sampler, or take samples of yourself playing instruments, it's free.

  • @musicman02 and you can make it sound any way you want, without being limited to what you can find in a crate. also if the new wave is rappers like rza picking up guitars they can't play, it'd be better to stick to autotune...

  • should get rza to join the stones.

    he plays like keith.

  • You smoking with the rza?!

  • Love it. Great to see different types of musicians collaborating and making something amazing. Its beautiful.

  • straight up, everyone likes good music, and good music is liked universally. most of the rockers i know love wu tang, play some rappers some black keys and they'll vibe with it. a friend of mine, a rapper, plays rythym guitar in my band and switches with our singer for rapped parts. blacrok stole our ideas. remember the young guns katiebear, we're poised to take over the globe for the same reasons why rza and black keys had chemistry, love of the artform and hate for bullshit.

  • Lol. Yup he is

  • rza like a hood ass jimi hendrix

  • hahaha, good call

  • true..lol i agree wit u on that note

  • siiiiiiiiiiick!!!!!!!!!

  • the RZA.

  • crazy how my dude just came up in there and switched everything up but yo' that was serious.

  • FUCK DAME DASH

THIS IS THE REAL BLAKROC OnyxMadTube . com

  • Fuck off !

  • Comment removed

  • yo dan, you smoking with the rza? oh man this is amazing

  • cick guitar liks by Dan, then rza just rips the neck out of this track.. I just want more of this.. Chali 2na, Black Thought, Kool Keith, Rakim and Chuck D for next album dudes

  • I'd add Erick Sermon, Gift of Gab, MF Doom, J-Live and Guru to that list....they gotta keep droppin these albums!

  • agreed!! Gift Of the GAB . oh yeah. Lyrics Born can get on board too

  • haha rza's gutta wutang ringtone

  • That is fucking sick I didn't know rza did those licks \o/o\o/\o/\

  • this is inspiration for me right here.

  • yeah rza there needs to be more videos of them in the studio

  • Both guitar samples are the shit! If you're not feeling this then you don't shit about shit! haha. This whole project is mad fire!

  • Soooooooo glad this series was made. Makes me appreciate the album more.
