yes in the axel you kinda use the toe pick but because it comes naturally, is not a toe jump because in those jumps you use the toe pick on purpose but if you do that on the axel you will fall, it's just natural if you know what I mean

@rivuku All the clips you see on our channel are done with cameras shooting from 500 to 75,000 FPS. We sometimes use software to speed up clips and rarely to slow them more. enjoy

@SmokeyTee haha, I'm a figure skater and while I agree they do look silly in such tight costumes, I also know that the reason they're so tight is because they need to be aerodynamic. That's why women figure skaters have tight dresses, too. Oh, and I think they'd still look gay wearing pirate costumes lol.

Umm...the spin is started by twisting your whole body. The picking into the ice just gets you off the ground lol. :P

Twisting the body does do all the work I suppose, but it just looks like the digging in helps as well with the spin.

No, there is no actual "twisting" of the body. The direction of the edge is what gets the skater the rotation. The picking is what propels the skater into the air. If the skater is twisting his body, he would not be able to complete the jump properly, if at all. It's all physics! Converting forward momentum into rotational momentum and using edges to create rotational momentum.
