@starguard this is more of a rival against the babyblade and the zxr 400 it is a whole other level above the 250r in terms of speed this is a 75hp machine kawasaki is only 33hp but this is unreliable and costs alot to maintain compared to the 250r hope i helped
All super sport bikes 125-250 cc should be two stroke like the rs... The rs is 250 but it goes pretty damm fast cause its 2 stroke.. Nice bike mate...
@BosnianKaos11 i suggest you to get a ktm. Fantastic motorbike. Nice and high performance. I had an little accident 2 weeks ago ( a slide around 60 kilometers per hour) and the bike has only somme little damages. Nothing is broken, the plastic parts haven't been touched. If you buy a ktm you get your money's worth.
God, Aprilia makes sweet small-displacement bikes! Shame most of 'em don't make it to the States. :( The Ninja 250 and the Hyosung GT250 are about the only options we have!
i got told you shouldnt let a 2 stroke warm up 2 much but to take off when you get throttle response properly cause of where the oil sits in the motor at cold starts
The display of the 250 tells you while the engine is Cold? Nice feature, i did know you should always let the engine get warm, but didnt know the bike told you,LOL
i think all the rs 125, and 250 from 2003 onwards have that feature. i might be wrong but thats the same year they changed the engine oil amount in the 125 from 800ml to 650ml.

The point is, why ride the more noisey, air polluting, gas guzzling, oil burning bike when there are cleaner more efficient options out there. I hear your point on the car, but we all kinda need cars to get around to work and the grocery store and all. No offense to anyone who rides a 2 stroke, it's just not for me. I had a 00 model. Spent every last cent to get it in 02. One year later a woman pulled out in front of me at a t junction and i made shit of myself and my beloved black beauty. Nice! This is the most beautiful motorbike and 2 stroke is the way to rev! Big 4 strokes? Put a good rider on a Suzuki RGV500 against 1,000+cc 4stroke any day. Heck, my Lambretta GP 225 can give a bigger sport bike a run for the money on acceleration, at least for a while.
these things are fucking fire breathers, i hadnt even gotten my license and only had 70 miles on the road and a good friend let me ride his rs250, it was intense, very fast bike.
two strokes are not as dependable as four strokes. They need to be rebuilt alot more often. However there cheaper to rebuild. It is easier to make more horse power and a much lighter engine with a two stroke but they don't produce the torque that a four stroke does and they burn fuel inefficiently. both are awsome, but those dam environmentalist are wiping out two strokes almost everywhere.
i dunno, i have a 1976 yz80c and its never been rebuilt, it has well over 3000 hours on it, compression is more than perfect, it runs perfect and rides like a dream
well, actually...this can be debatable...there is truth to your statement but truth to a 4-stroke as well....difference being, 2 strokes have a LOT smaller usable powerband, where as a 4 stroke the usable powerband is MUCH bigger. power peaks completely different in both engines. and when comparing two engines such as what you are doing, you have to state more specifics, i mean a 80CC 2 stroke is NOT faster than a 250CC 4 stroke. It ALL depends...

Honestly man, if somebody laughs at you all that means is that they dont have a clue in hell what it is, its a shame, somebody that truely knows their bikes will greatly appreciate it, screw the others.
Its a two stroke running on unleaded fuel mixed with oil - you need to remember that... I own a Aprilia RS250 and not being a bad mechanic myself, i know the symptoms - there is too much oil being mixed with the petrol...
This can be easily fixed by tuning the carby to adjust the oil flow - after all fuel and oil are in seperate tanks.
Nothing serious (definetly not a rebuild) - a few turns of a screwdriver and it'll be running like a new one...

I have a question though, if its a two stroke, then how is it street legal(is that only california??)?
Emissions on cars and moto's is catogorized in building years. A new two cilinder two stroke will probably never make its way on the market. The 2008 model RS125 is limited on the ECU to meet emissions. Cali is certainly out of the question.
i know it have kick starter, looks strange on a racing bike, if you understand? Not that it's bad annything, i tougth you could mount electrical on it, looks more sport with el-starter

@starguard No comparison is possible ^^ aprilia is about 70 hp , and has not been made for the same purpose. aprilia rs 2.5 is deeply track-oriented.

they changed the engine oil amount (or gearbox oil amount) from 1L to 600ml from the old rotax 123 to the new rotax 122 (1996-today)

i know it have kick starter, looks strange on a racing bike, if you understand? Not that it's bad annything, i tougth you could mount electrical on it, looks more sport with el-starter

I live in the states all, I love this machine and have heard it is a monster on the road and can do in some Liter sized bikes to some fashion...
I personally have a 04 FZ6 and love it ...I got one question..years ago...the local aprilia dealership said you had to do alot to make em legal for street in the US?>
