@AmericanSoapBox It is not survivable, if you look closely at the wreck you will notice that the front is damaged the most indicating that the aircraft stalled and and crashed belly first, or the engine cut out causing the aircraft to go into a un-controllable dive.
Lavacava that is rediculous! The vans RV has a fairly good saftey record and are infact very nice aand very safe aeroplane to fly. And what you say about airbags is just moronic! do you know how much it would cost flying schools to fit aircarft out with airbags, also do you know how complicated this process would be. Aircafaft airbags are also very hit and miss, even airliners, and bussiness jets dont have them, so why a little 2 seater? A well fitted 4-5 point harness is more than adaquate
@JamesHepnar smart answer, keep the government out of aviation and let common sence reign...risk management is nessisary in life...pretending big brother can somehow protect you is rediculous...thats why god fave us a brain
@ted850760 Many people want to be pilots just due they can buy a plane. Re'gs are there to protect the public from idiots that can't fly over my head and still insist they can due they can buy the machine. Too many crashes of these idiot pretenders. He stalled it and killed the passenger and a good plane too. Is that good for you?
@CFITOMAHAWK Idiot Pretender?he was a licenced pilot..the response was to the possibility that the gov.mandating air bags-balisticparachuts ect..not nessisaryprivate pilots using common sence makes for safe flying...you claim pilot error-plane may have lost power on tske off-no alt. and the pilot did his best to land off field
@ted850760 I didn't mention any Air Bags or Ballistic Shutes anywhere so you must be drunk or high. Most GA accidents are the avoidable type. You can lose the engine on take off and not stall if you don't panic and stall it. Most are water in fuel anyway. I can see pilot here did the best to land "off field" instead of stalling it and killing the passenger. Can you post a video doing what you call his best? Please. I like to see another stall from 500 feet down to a house. Pilot or terrorist?
@ted850760 You are forgetting of what you wrote back to me. Again I didn't mention any airbags, or shutes and you posted that to me. Air Bags wont save you from
Spinal Compression on a stall.
For the Terrorist Effect of these crashes stop it at 0:11. Those tree stumps stopped the plane from hitting the house. That neighborhood is scared of these pilots now.
these home built planes are dangerous. vans aircraft is fun to fly...thats about it...safety wise, it sucks balls.
pilots have died even trying to emergency land these buggers on grass patches because they flip and there's no airbags to prevent blunt force trauma impact like with some nicer planes with amsafe airbags.
if you are training in a flight school, make sure they emphasize safety over profits - make sure the old planes have airbags at the very minimum.
Yes it is. He can also be seen in the fatal deputy involved shooting I uploaded a few weeks ago. I may have more footage of him. If I do will keep it with the videos as I edit, and if I have enough I might even do a short tribute/salute video of him.
Thanks for quick reply. His shooting really hit home with me....the house it happened in is only 6 blocks from the house I grew up in and eventually bought from my parents, I was living there when it happened. Also was delivering Meridian when the new substation opened and the street(160th) was named after him.
Can you send me the link to the video you referenced ?
were they burned in the cockpit?

Not a Mooney. A Mooney's tail is reversed. I think it is an RV-4 or 6.

My brother in law was the General Manager at Thun Field when I was a youngster and would take us up in his planes all the time.
