Honestly, he sings the verses incredibly well, but you can tell when he sings the chorus, it's like it's almost out of his range. He tries to mask it with vibrato but he hits several wrong notes in there.

Speech level singing--a lot sung through the mask (upper facial resonators, including nasal and retaining the sound through the soft palate), which, as others have stated, robs it of the guttural quality the song requires. Technically perfect, but the role of Roger shouldn't be. In the original auditions for the role, they wanted someone rough and raw--someone with their own established style.

Heinz is very good, but he's not connected to the role in this presentation.

I liked this video a lot. I like how he shows emotion without overdoing it. I just find it really obnoxious when singers overdo their emotions so much. It's like they're trying so hard to be the center of attention instead of actually singing the song. A lot of singers need to learn from Heinz that sometimes "less" is "more".

Actually, he is a professional singer with a few CDs to his name. I had the chance to see him perform Roger at the Wolf Trapp Theatre outside of DC - amazing, performance, voice and cast for that show.

Maybe you have seen him after a few lessons but he looks very untrained. If he does has proper technique and is singing with it in this song then he should realize that maybe this part was meant for a true tenor like adam pascal. Good singer though.
