Its amazing how long we the people. Stoners, Rockers, Headbangers, Heshians, Misfits and such. Have been talking about the corruption of humanity and our governments for so long. Just when our voices were starting to be heard fucking rap came along and drowned us out. When we were being heard the news said we were the ones responsible for suicides and lawless behavior. Well fuck em we are still strong and alive.
The name of the Twilight Zone episode from which the intro is taken is "Deaths-Head Revisited". Extremely good episode, made all the better when you hear the lines used in this song.
i bet most people dont know what the talking in the begining of this song is from.....
i just saw an episode of Twilight Zone about a nazi captain who is haunted by concentration camp victims and goes mad at the end of the episode. the laughing is the captain and part that says" we did as we were told" is the victim......good song, it makes sense
first time i saw them on tour with this album, with Maiden at Wembley..amazing! brilliant stuff, great album..BUT..nowadays im afraid i think Joeys voice is shot..have you seen the big4 dvd and you reckon he sings ok? what about Only? awful! anyway..great band

i witnessed anthrax open with persistence of time for iron maiden on their no prayer for the dying tour in the houston, texas colouseum 1989. i was a sophomore at northshore highschool off uvalde road in houston. what a fuking awesome generation of thrash and soul. that was near the the year red hot chili peppers released blood sugar sex magic. im now trapped in alaska. fuk me i miss samantha kennedy
A freind of mine and I used to play this song for all the parts we knew. This song still kicks ass. It's timeless, but there's still people who don't like Anthrax
@Shannon4797 They did make C.D.'s back then dude, I remember because I bought this when it came out on C.D., why in the world would you risk losing a great album by playing out a tape? Then again, C.D. walkmans were expensive then so in order to carry around music it needed to be on tape. Ok, nuff said. sorry dude. I think the last tape I bought was So far...so good...so what?
I'M REDISCOVERING ANTHRAX AGAIN. I BOUGHT THIS ON TAPE 1st TIME AROUND. I TOTALLY FORGOT HOW FUCKIN GOOD THIS ALBUM IS!! GOOD TO SEE THE ORIGINAL LINE-UP BACK TOGETHER AGAIN.
@SandMaster73 hell yeah.. me too! Among the Living and Persistence of Time are my personal favorites. It's funny how I got into Anthrax, by seeing them on Married with Children when I was in the 4th grade 2 decades ago.
I feel so young reading comments from everyone saying they listened to this in high school, lol. Still though, you don't have to be old to appriciate awesome music. I wish these 2 tracks were one though. I hate when on my iPod its on shuffle and it plays Belly Of The Beast without the intro! >_<
@WhoblehwahV2 That is the single greatest failing of this/these songs, that they aren't presented as one. I feel your pain though, I could've bounced my iPod off the wall when it happened... Was really getting into it too! lol
1990 was a great year for heavy music man !My timeframe matches up with yours almost exactly ! I was a Junior in high school and just enamored with all the new music that these great bands were putting out !
I was 24 in 1990 and I played the shit out of this.I was the black sheep of my family as I would guess all of us are. Many beers and many joints have fallen to this music.Life is good.
what's with the hiccup at 3:24? nonetheless 3:31 - 3:41 the guitars sound absolutely tremendous. it's not hard to play at all, but it still sounds freakin great and what monster tone.
Anthrax and Rammstein are both punk rock bands. But the principle of law is not based on Anarchy but moral society and its clash with individualistic ideals. The protection of personal ideology and the sub-culture which supports its freedom is a common theme. Just as much as protection of other personal ideals are necessary even for the aristocracy.
Well, I still try to analyze this damn song...since it was released. And god help me - I never heard such a consequent library of killer riffs ever bevore, then, and later. What the heck ? They chaeting me ! It is nothing more than....everlasting BRAINFUCK !
This was probably the first CDs I ever bought in the early 90s. It was either this or Attack Of The Killer Bs. I remember being in high school listening to this stuff almost 20 years ago. Nice to see alot of people still dig this group. For sure the first concert I ever saw when I was 5 years old was Anthrax in 93 with White Zombie and Quicksand.
I was in Junior High when this album came pot back in 1990, They were part of a tour for this album called Clash of the Titans (my 1st concert) It was Alice in chains 1st, then Megadeath, then Slayer, The Anthrax came out and killed it to close the show. I have been hooked on these guys ever since, To bad theres no more Joey. (just not the same)
My older brother went to that Clash of the Titans show and I was jealous.

still too old to rock, still too old to die.hope that helps.stay fuckin´alive...please
This album came out at the start of my sophomore year in high school. The fall of 1990 had this and Iron Maidens "No Prayer for the Dying", Judas Priests "Pain Killer" and Megadeths "Rust in Peace". All these albums came out within two weeks of each other and we fuckin' rocked out hard!!!! Pretty heavy social commentary for a 16 year old! It was great.
@TheNepharous Around the same time for me. Did you catch the clash of the titans tour w/ Anthrax, MegaDeth, and Slayer? Alice in Chains opened only to be laughed off the stage. Man, what a crazy night. We didn't have floor seats. Second row from floor. We still slammed, piled on, and moshed w/ fellow headbangers in rows around us.
@ZimrayaTV that was 1991 and not as good as the other albums in the list (except maybe no prayer...) and not as good as Slayer's "Seasons in the Abyss"
@TheNepharous That's true, it was quite a powerful bunch to have over just one year or maybe two. It seemed as though the good albums wouldn't cease being released at all. Back then I hadn't enough money to purchase them all, but by borrowing or encouranging my friends to acquire some I could listen to lots from bands such as Anthrax, Megadeth, Sepultura, Slayer, Obituary, Napalm Death, Kreator, and Iron Maiden to name a few. Then it came the all boring grunge and the magic was gone.
@TheNepharous wow you must be my age..yea i was in the same grade,,you forgot slayer seasons in the abyss,,and testament souls of black also came out during this time!! it was an awesome year for metal
@willalwaysloveOHIO ha ha! its good to see you young bucks listening to the bands that started it all for these so called hardcore metal bands today..
Fuck yeah, chickennone, I saw the same tour. I was a metal head going in, and came out with some respect for rap, at least how it was done back in the day with acts like PE - those fuckers were metal, they just didn't play it.
Man its been TIme tht i heard this n still fuckin kicks ass, hear this wit lights SHUT n surround sound in a freakin living room FUCK its surely kicks ass
Man you to. I used to rock out to this shit all the time. On the bright side at least we are the X generation. But yes to live just one week in my past once more.
There was a street named Anthrax, after the band. Until some fuckup mailed anthrax to people. Then they changed the name. I think every major city should have an Anthrax street.
With that said, it should have been an intro as it would have been a perfect way to establish the album.
Also, on the vinyl single (or SP) for Got the Time, there was a track called Who Put This Together? (credited to "mixmaster stickmaster Benante" - modest Charlie) which should have been used as the final track since it has a place on the album conceptually (with various sound bytes involving the word time being said). It would have foreshadowed the conceptual vibe on the next LP.
sk8ers listen to all kinds of shit, this is METAL! and Anthrax are still kicking ass and taking names, unlike another so called "metal" band (that acutally uses the word METAL in its title)
The best music band in thrash metal forever. Especially this album which i loved that much that during all my high school in 90's i identifyed myself with Persistence of time. Thank you guys for creating such a perfect music. I wish you good luck and long lives and play this music till the end of time.
Its amazing how long we the people. Stoners, Rockers, Headbangers, Heshians, Misfits and such. Have been talking about the corruption of humanity and our governments for so long. sk8ers listen to all kinds of shit, this is METAL! and Anthrax are still kicking ass and taking names, unlike another so called "metal" band (that acutally uses the word METAL in its title)

The best music band in thrash metal forever. Especially this album which i loved that much that during all my high school in 90's i identifyed myself with Persistence of time. Thank you guys for creating such a perfect music. I wish you good luck and long lives and play this music till the end of time.

Anyone know what the lyrics at the beginning of 'Intro to Reality' come from?
Faqhool 3 years ago
It's from an episode of 'The Twilight Zone' about the Nazis. I don't remember what it's called.
