I kinda think in utero was more personal than he said it was. I mean when your going to write music your going to write it just the way you feel at that moment. And well in utero was just obvious that that was it atleast to me. Also the fact he wanted to title it i hate myself and i want to die. i mean come on do you really think that should be taken as a joke? Anyone who talks about suicide like that often isnt suicidal? well great band great man amazing music.
@MrShredFish yeah man i was kinda pissed when he said in utero wasnt a personal album but i think it was and kurt just didn't want people taking every lyric apart
@MrShredFish i agree - there have been so many different things said about In Utero by Kurt Cobain that it really isn't easy to figure out, except that I agree, its likely MORE autobiographical than he says HERE, because in other interviews he says In Utero is MORE autobiographical (with things like all the medical issues he was dealing with)
an album that changed music and a generation how do you top that again u needed to be a candle in the wind to be the front man to that piece of art the seeds of destruction were sewn well before its sucsess nevermind what do u do retire and play golf just another human tradgedy story that happens everyday in the real world stay in reality when the anger and pain is released let it go and find peace ps nirvana
this interview is so sad, it really sounds like he just wanted a way out but then at the same time he didn't want to upset anyone, what with the band and the excuses from lack of passion, the escalating drugs, his stomach, the strained relationship (which nearly ended in divorce) and hole. I think he though every turn would be a dead end or end badly.
i would have loved to see what other songs would have came out. Such a trajedy. Cobain we need you in this world of shit music now more than ever, its always the best who die the soonest.
I found a quote saying that Kurt liked The Who, Led Zeppelin and The Beatles - obviously the latter. However, he wasn't too keen on their respective frontmen, i.e. Roger Daltrey, Robert Plant and Paul McCartney. I can understand him not liking Plant because of the "cock rock" image he personified and I get that he doesn't like McCartney probably because of his ego and the way he treated Lennon, but what the fuck did Roger Daltrey do? He seems like a respectable guy.
...are you retarded. foo fighters brought back heavy metal hard. them and knickelback. foo fighters wipes the floor with nirvana. dave groham is the prince of metal. if kirt kobain didnt die of aids he'd be working at payless shoes now.
@1THETRUTH10 You're absolutely right,I agree with you 100%.And I'm from Seattle,I listened to Nirvana and attended their concerts and did Heroin heavily for years, beyond personal issues much because it was such a prevalent drug in the city and especially on the scene at the time. But Nirvana had nothing to do with it,unlike Alice in Chains,Kurt really never sang about that, much less glorified it.It is fucked up,the stuff changes your brain chemistry and leads only to where it lead Kurt.Or u stop
Ugh... this will always haunt me. My dad's cousin did something similar around the same time or before... or that's what's suspected... drugs were involved... and it's just really haunting stuff. With Kurt, a mix of emotions, drugs, and personal turmoil lead to this... it could have most likely been prevented with a lot of changes... :(
It's funny he says "No one even thinks of the band Nirvana anymore, They just think of Kurt and Courtney." Courtney died long before I started really listening to nirvana on a more "religious" level, and I hadn't even known they were married until like a year ago. Things are much different now. BUT if he was still alive I think I would've known. does that make sense?
"It might be nice to eventually start playing acoustic guitars, and be thought of as a singer and a songwriter... then I might be able to take advantage of that when I'm older, and sit down on a chair and play acoustic guitar..and it won't be a big joke. Who knows?"
This is just a good interview even know it isnt completly truthful. I wish TV was still like this. Its so classic and old school-ish. Its something I could zone out too.
As for the murder claims - naaah. Watching interviews like this again fascinate me, seeing how upbeat he appears regarding music and family. But- he talks of leaving Nirvana at the end. By this stage in his life,he and Krist had grown apart dramatically, and inside his mind things were getting darker and darker. His coma in rome was a suicide attempt,he escaped the following stint in rehab to return home. He knew what he was going to do. To this day,I wonder what music he'd make had he lived.
I first saw this interview- two nights after his death. I was in Paris on a school tour, and I was 14. I remember the night he died as though it was yesterday- sitting in the hotel room with my friends, trying to talk and understand what the fuck had just happened..At 14, and somebody you look up and idolize like I did Kurt suddenly dies-its fucked up. Your not prepared to understand what must have been going on in his mind to make him do that.
Kurt didn't kill himself, people on heroin don't kill themselves unless its an accidental overdose or if they are struggling to support their addiction/life.
Kurt spoke of wanting to leave his band or music all together, so maybe what happened was he wrote the top half of his suicide note early on, then when he was drugged up added the bit of bottom text and finished it. All in all, I'm happy Kurt left us, because his own music became unbearable for him due to his wild popularity. He wanted to join Hole to be happy and write with Courtney Love, but couldn't leave Nirvana for Hole due to the Kurt&Courtney popularity getting in the way of the music.
The way he speaks of his band mates so close to his death just shows what a bullshit artist Courtney is always saying that Krist and Dave didn't give a shit about Kurt. i swear that bitch know's more about his death then she will every make public. The financial gain from his death considering Kurt was going to divorce her, makes her look like a prime suspect. Not that I think she did it. But I think she had something to do with it.
I sometimes wonder how would have Kurt looked nowadays if he would have been alive. It would have been a great thing to see him in interviews nowadays speaking about music in general, about his band (if he would have kept Nirvana going, of course)... Kurt would have been a great living rock n' roll hero for us today, just like Lemmy from Motorhead, Mustaine from Megadeth, the guys from Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne... Sweet dreams... impossible to become true ! RIP Kurt !
watch the investigator miss love hired talk about the issue...........he was killed........3 lethal doses of heroin.......i've experimented with it and with 3 lethal doses he wouldn't have enough time to pick up a shotgun and shoot himself considering there wasn't a needle in his arm....so when that makes sense then i'll buy into the suicide.......til then all signs point to courtney's a cunt and the police are incompitant asses that wont admit there mistakes and reopen the investigation
This interview makes me think even more of him not killing himself.Cuz 1.He loved his family 2.During 94' Nirvana did a recording session that featured like 8 new songs 3.Kurt had supposingly found a subscipted pain reliever that quickly stopped his stomach pains and 4.Kurt often talked about his future during the last months of his life. Also this isnt the full interview.
@NirvanaNerd364 Well , ive dealt with some heroin issues pertaining my sister... But she was straight a perfect child, then got involved, with it in her 20's and is a completely diffrent person, Kurt was taking heroin at the time of his death it changes you mentally i wont doubt 1 bit heroin is why hes dead, it causes mood swings makes you more prone to depression and withdrawls so mix all that together and kurt feels like shit and cant take it anymore in rehab..... and then yeah.
@Darkzmanz But duznt heroin also mess with your nerve system? How could he be so wasted out on heroin and be able to write his suicide letter better yet should himself???Also if uve evr read that letter which im sad to say i have, its starts off lke hes saying hes giving up music.then near the end its starts becoming a suicide note.....
@Sbeaable No he wasn't. He killed himself. As hard as that is to except. Factually that's what happend. Read a Nirvana bio or actually look up the story.. In one documentary his limo driver talks about Cobain realizing he had shotgun shells in his bag before he got on the plane to LA for rehab, and making the driver promise he would take the shells back to Cobains house. People get depressed and kill themselves. Simple as that. Not everything is a consipiracy.
nirvana is the one band in the world that i would live forever for but i'm sad to say that i think nirvana is the reason the underground rock scene atmosphere and all young angst and all. but who could blame them! It was bound to happen one day. their rise to fame also shows why "bleach" is so punk rock and different from all of their other albums and, personally, i think they didn't really try to play as best as they could at every show: so they could get away from all of the fame
@jumpyourbone... I totally agree with you! i lean towards murder... but we weren't there... no one knows what happen... evidence support's both theory! It's all personal opinion now.
I don't believe it was a murder. After watching footage immediately following his death, and seeing Courtney's reaction,l her devastation was genuine and not something one can fake, even as messed up as CL may be/have been personally. I believe she truly loved him and was devastated by his death.
I think Courtney was extremely manipulative and he fell for it. I don't think he had any intention of killing himself, especially not with the vibe of this video. She's the bitch who destroyed him.
@brightlights456X Good quotes on your profile, too bad the first line of your own is one by Mark Twain. :) But as far as women go, they're all a little nutty.
@paramorebliss Ur very wrong.....I love Kurt and Nirvana....but like Kurt himself said "I'd rather u hate me for who I am,than love me for who Im not". Kurt wasn't perfect,he was human Like u and I.......I suggest u read more about him and listen to his interviews. But I love u dude , u have great taste in music :D
@crazy4baseball47 Growing up listning to Nirvana helped shape me in to who I am today...like all things that influence us. My brother did heroin, and It's a really fucked up life....it was for Kurt. People who look at rich rock stars then think "oh yea my hero does drugs,I'll get into that" are idiots. Nirvana songs were anti drugs if u listen to the lyrics....did Kurt sound happy in those songs? So tell me why am I a fake and a poser?
I think Love mentally pushed him too killing himself..
I know it's not a new theory, but this is what I believe... partly anyways, obviously he suffered from occasional anciety and drugs and stuff, but Love is a bitch i think..
@callmepistol totally remember that getting repeated a ton. it was a similar but different interview on Much though. also by the water and same era, slightly earlier
No need to over analyze why cobain did what he did.I don't hold it against him, because we didn't experience what HE went through. We all react to things differently. But not most of us are manic depressive, heroin addicts dealing with the pressures of stardom, that NO musician ever went through.Remember, cobain was STILL alive when people were calling him ''THE voice of a generation''.That's the kind of pressure NO musician has dealt with.Hard drugs, depression just intensify into hopelessness.
It's refreshing to see a man who's down to earth & doesn't need to have an over-the-top personality/overinflated self image like many of today's pop artists. I don't understand why he wasn't happy. He had millions of dollars & people all over the world loved him. What more can you ask for in life?
Kurt seemed like a very sensible guy much affected with a troubled childhood that caused him to turned to drugs. Such talent and cool charisma destroyed by drugs. But still. Kudos to you Mr. Cobain RIP
"It might be nice to eventually start playing acoustic guitars and be throught of a singer and a song writerter, rather then a grunge rocker cause then mabey i might be able to take advantage of that and play music like johnny cash or something. and it wont be a big joke."
@c3789 and had they not you and i would not evin be talking about this as a fan of nirvana i could say it was sort of a good thing as a person who feels sad for the person that is kurt cobain i could say i wish he would have never evin got famious because he said he was happyer with the little things in life and he probably would have never met courtney so if she did plot his death that woulnt of happend either i dunno man its all fucked up

nirvana is the one band in the world that i would live forever for but i'm sad to say that i think nirvana is the reason the underground rock scene atmosphere and all young angst and all. but who could blame them!

Metaphore kind of intended.

No need to over analyze why cobain did what he did.I don't hold it against him, because we didn't experience what HE went through. We all react to things differently. But not most of us are manic depressive, heroin addicts dealing with the pressures of stardom, that NO musician ever went through.Remember, cobain was STILL alive when people were calling him ''THE voice of a generation''.That's the kind of pressure NO musician has dealt with.Hard drugs, depression just intensify into hopelessness.

they were so ahead of their time.. and still are. They changed the face of rock, metal and pop singlehandedly. When can we see this again?
BrightDigitalProduct 1 year ago
It's refreshing to see a man who's down to earth & doesn't need to have an over-the-top personality/overinflated self image like many of today's pop artists. I don't understand why he wasn't happy. He had millions of dollars & people all over the world loved him. What more can you ask for in life?

@CherishHamilton He died in April 1994, so this was only a few months before he passed.

@veggiegurl06 I know this. I'm just asking was this taken in Jan, Feb or March of 1994.

@CherishHamilton So if April is the 4th month in the year, there's a 1/4 chance he died a month after or less.

He should have just done what he wanted. If he wanted to join Hole he should have done it. I guess he felt trapped.
