Shinji is a former Captain and he is a Visored. He wasn't even fighting seriously during this and he trounced Grimmjow pretty hard. If he got serious and actually chose to kill him. He would have. Sakanade is a great Shikai, and since Grimmjow 's aspect is Destruction. He wouldn't have a chance of seeing through his Shikai.

Sorry but however cool Shinji Hirako is Grimmjow would defeat him. Being the leader of the visoreds is a credit to Shinji but when Grimmjow got to his feet right after a cero (and a sound beating from Ichigo in his visored form) he still had his release mode. And Shinji does shit himself a little bit when Grimmjow is about to release his zanpakuto. If they both fought at full strength that would be interesting, but my money would just about land on Grimmjow.
