  • would have been nice to see what it looks like on the inside

  • why couldnt you make a solenoid system to automatically add electrolyte to the batteries , have a big resovoir that you only fill like once a year ,

  • Love your design concepts!

  • it looks like a house from a fairy tale.. so organic and whimsical.

  • Volere, e potere. Abbandonare la cita, con il suo caos, si puo-basta volerlo con tutto il cuore. Io c'e lo fatta.

  • I think I would get lonely.

  • great home looks like a good life

  • single parent family of three we have skills and garden

we have a bcs tiller and chainsaws we know how to work

we are looking for people to live with and help us

have a couple acers ourself thats all we want

    we have a cookstove too

we can cut and split wood for eight hours a day

we are LOOKING FOR PEOPLE THAT want to have us too

we are LOOKING FOR COMMUNITY NO ONE CARES ABOUT US

  • How much does it cost to set up a house like that? Almost seems like it's a rich person's green conscious solution... Sort of like "we certainly have the cash $ to be on the grid". Off the grid, very high tech, burning trees, big bed and breakfast house. How very babyboomer "green" of them!

  • @ProductionRadical Judging from others I've seen and the amount of labour I assume they put into it themselves, I'd say $150,000 - $250,000.

  • This is all good and dandy on small scale, but what about on a large scale.

  • I would leave my menial high-stress job and go set up a yurt in the middle of fucking nowhere, but I am enslaved by debt.

  • Thats awesome I would love to live like that

  • Absolutely wonderful ...I'd love to come to your bed and breakfast

    thanks for sharing on youtube

  • It would be a hoot if you had a hummer sitting in your driveway

  • Enjoyed this video to learn something new, but I would of liked to be hearing the lady without the straining to hear what she had to say.

  • The issue of the battery problem. Currently there is not much to offer. Thye just die from the recharging. Keep them cool, keep them balanced and well watered. Use distiled water. It will prolong the life of them. I also recomend keeping well clean. Keep checking your wiring for ground faults and stuff like that.

  • Are there any small towns near by for food shoppingÉ , school for kidsÉ

  • Yes there is everything ,

  • my biggest problem that Im trying to find a solution to is the battery problem (for turbine or solar). they have to be replaced every few years, and then they're useless, its more waste. is there any solution?

  • they say use truck batteries they last much longer and you do not have to fill so often ? for the moment

  • @moekanz Sodium Sulphur batteries are still an emerging tech but are potentially very promising.

  • @moekanz

I'm not sure how viable it is, but what you can do is use your surplus wind and solar power to pump water into a tower. Then at night/winter or when the wind is down, you turn the water pump into a hydro generator. I don't know too much about it though.

  • @ConnorPwns21

Ireland is mostly like that too :D

  • Is it bed and breakfast yet? I want to visit

  • Goat's on the roof. Lol.

  • yes, fill your batteries up with water, that'll work...

  • @EuroNoobz Yes it will - distilled water (electrolyte) is what you put in FLA batteries.

  • how do you get your lawnmower on the roof?

  • wouldnt they have to mow their roof

  • Canadians rock!!!

  • I would never use this house for a example . Anyone can do nothing .

  • I would never use this house for a example .

  • I want to go inside..!

  • This started off like a porn (excuse the crassness)...but what an amazing structure.

  • Inspiring!

  • AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET US FREE

  • VERY NICE NATURAL ORANIC FEEL IT'S ALMOST INVISIBLE WHICH WOULD BE THE IDEAL LOOK.

  • hey i luv this about to get a motor home put solar above it

and do my thing this everyday life is boring

  • why is canida so aead and america so behind??? WE FUCKING NEED THAT GREEN TECH STUFF!!!!

  • I wonder how much it cost to own this home.

  • "The windmill isn't turning?"

...."its not windy".....lol too funny:) beautiful home though thanks for posting:)

  • that'a exactly my dream, to live off the grid, be free have my own little farm. with myy kids and be truely happy for once!....FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

  • how much for all that solar/wind/green tech??

  • @Sailor231 Depends. Solar panels are currently pretty expensive. However, if you don't mind doing some down and dirty work, you can build your own wind or hydro generators using electric motors or alternators from old cars.

  • so what happens when their batteries fail? where do they buy them from

  • Is my grandpa doing this interview?

  • must be hard mowing the grass on your roof JK

  • Cute lady

  • Fantastic! Is that tall structure at the end of the vid a Ham Radio tower?

  • very cool, is this in bc?

  • for the price of that high level breaze you can spend little 15 on a 1,2k device that spins at a very very slow 3.4m/s with built in ac inverter..wind spire

  • I'm moving off the grid as soon as I get my degree.

  • is der any internet connection coz tht is the only i'm worrying sbout

  • @bukkworm .....I'd be more worried about a user-name that connotes intelligence whereas your misspellings & vulgar vernacular (As in gross use thereof rather than a degenerated obscene sense) leads one to believe that you would not suffer too much without an internet connection........GaaaaacccccckkkkkkkK!

  • @Casmige hey I don't know what was going through my mind that time, anyways how is life going these days? and I'm still worried about internet connectivity, so, do you have any thing to suggest?

  • @bukkworm

    =OoO=

Parabolic Dish....(LOL, You SHOULD know what should go in front of THIS:-

    watch?v=oOpxaEpPXQY&feature=related

  • @bukkworm a real satellite will cost a lot, but yeah you can have the interwebs in very very remote locations. I worked for cox and one of their take overs was only partially in the state, because the rest was in the mountains and those people had satellites for everything. We didn't bother even trying to market to them because we couldn't go up there.

  • @shakaama thank you very very much ....god bless u

  • cool

  • Does anybody know how to get out of paying taxes for your land?

  • @tripvids420 selling dope!

  • good luck to you... love this!

  • Loved the video, low key and natural, honest approach. Thanks for sharing your lifestyle, giving us an inside personal peek.

  • @mooersrealty thank you very much Mooers , was a nice day

  • shes kind of hot

  • @Revolutionhasbegun1 ....................I suppose your right there, also easier said than done :), Thx dave

  • Really nice, and doesn't look that hard to build!

  • @MsTheresaKelly1 I think the grass might be better insulation ? , also it cost nothing to repair , Thx dave

  • If you buy the right shingles, like mine, the roof lasts minimum 50 years, and won't burn your house down during dry seasons.

    GRASS ROOF is really dumb!

  • Living off the grid benefits you in many ways. It makes you independent from corporate giants like water, electric companies. Frees you from paying the taxes on the services as well. It can promote usage of green technologies such as wind, solar, and conversion of waste to compost which can be used to plant food for you to eat. You can raise livestock and feed them with food that was composted from your waste. No worries about having utilities cut off for not paying the crackers.

  • @TheHumiliator1000 .......nice post dave Thx

  • NICE!!!

  • This video started off like a bad porno flick.

  • Great start. There are communities starting like this in the tropics. No heat and no A/C needed and food grows all year around. We bought a biospharm there. It's a small sustainable mini farm designed to supply a family with all it's food requirements. Cost effective and safe. It's a great place to retreat too. Contact me if you have questions darinsmith@inbox.com

  • Yes, like 'wushujia' @4 mos.ago also mentions, the audio 4-the 'lady of the house' was barely audible & fades completely off & on. I wanted very much to hear her responses; not just the interviewer's prompts. Too bad. But it was inspiring just to see the way they've laid-out their property plus their utility resources.

Also good to find earthship/merc..buddist/metahive ideas in comments. All in all resourceful upload. Thx DavesG...R...! Yay1 /^_~\\

  • It is a good idea, I think, to get a diesel generator and that way you make make your bio diesel and always have electricity.

  • Wow, that is what I want!!!! Living off the grid!!

  • @b5kalad .......go for it bro ..thx Dave

  • If your interested in being part of a "Earthship" community, check out my channel and web site for the Metahive project.

  • Fantastic video. They succeeded while the Ontario government is still doing their "I don't know". Is there anyway they will come to Green Shows, or Environment Fairs? Do they have a blog or have they made their bed and breakfast?

  • Mullen Stalks at 3:44 my favorite hand drill. and smoking the leaves is a natural remedy to alleviate the respiratory .

  • perhaps subtitles would help. I could barely hear her talk over the camera man.

  • Round houses are so cool. I was told you can have one built for less than $4k Talk to them about having their waste self-composting in a digester...so they can use it for fertilizer and for methane natural gas.

  • can I contact this person to know more about their experiences?

  • @joanlizscott Sorry Joan this is not possible you could ask me and I can see what I can do for you Thx Dave

  • @joanlizscott ......sorry no Thx dave

  • Hi Dave,

I am interested in building an earthship myself in Ontario, preferably located in the Niagara region.

I was wondering if you knew how difficult it was for them to get a building permit? I know in the states that getting a permit can be the most difficult part.

    Thanks.

  • @yhycTV Hi Yhy don't know about that in Ontario ? I would just go ask. When you own your own land might be easier Thx dave

  • @yhycTV Hi Yhy don't know about that in Ontario ? I would just go ask. When you own your own land might be easier Thx dave

  • @yhycTV if i were you i would look a little farther south ,,, sarnia ,, chatham ,,, leamington ,,, or the out skirts ,,, simply because the winters are soooo much better a couple hundereds mile south into the last of the carolina rain forests ,,, peace

  • She's hot.

  • I'm happy you guys are off the grid but you sure do ask a lot of personal question at that woman. LOL

  • where in canada is this?

  • i like her you can tell shes a very nice person and ive noticed people that live like this are genunally more happy prob because there not stressed about living life with bills and shit good for her i hope to live like her how much would all that cost?

  • Congratulations!

Do you think it would be unhealthy to live in a metal box? I am thinking of constructing a cabin out of a shipping container that could be shipped around the world. However I am concerned about fung shui and resonating with the earths energies. Any advice?

  • Keep them good videos coming 5*****

  • They see to intentionally ignore the other person. Not surprised.

  • Comment removed

  • After giving it some thought I think I could just do away with electricity altogether. Maybe just a small solar panel to recharge batteries, my laptop and my cell phone. Every time the power goes out during a storm the house gets quiet and peaceful and the candle light is so relaxing. I think I'll go light some candles and turn the lights off.

  • be greatful for what we have today..back in the old days people would want to live how we do

  • I totally agree with you. I especially would not want to give up Novocaine at the dentist. My point is that I think for some people, like myself, the simpler things bring more enjoyment in life. For example, I would prefer to hike in the woods or weed my garden over playing a video game or watching TV. I still enjoy technology and modern advances however I would prefer not to use most of them if given the choice.

  • I'd love to do this, even having minimal amount of knowledge of this and not known how to do certain things, i would still do it.

  • Very nice place. Trouble is it probably isn't allowed over here in THE LAND OF THE FREE. They tend to be like ikambor here. You must conform to what some idiot thinks is best for you.

  • why wouldn't it be allowed? You're allowed to build your house however you like on your own property.

  • It depends on where you are I heard most of Missouri does not have building permits. Some counties are allowing them some are not. A friend of mine out side San Antonio, TX has a container home and aquaponics and waste treatment facility of their own. It just depends on where you are and who you have to deal with.

  • why do they think that living off the grid means they cant mow the lawn?????

  • Why would they? Seriously, can't you see the beauty in the natural state of their surroundings? A "lawn" is not natural, we're just accustomed to seeing it everywhere, so it becomes the norm. That doesn't make it the only way, or even a good way, to maintain the plant growth around a home.

  • @cozzensclan lawns come from when most people owned a goat... Goats can keep a very nice lawn.

  • Lawn mowing is one the things I hate the most about living in a surburban area. It's such useless work and its loud.

  • I could handle living in the hut. Firearms and Ammo is a must in field for un-ruley bears and who knows what.

  • great house . and for the hell comment , at the top of the page,, "we create are own hell"

  • beautiful

  • where in canada is this?

  • Ontario....North .....Grey Bruce....Dave

  • thank you...but....your reply....is.....a little...confusing

  • Lake Huron Georgian Bay Ont. Ca. :)

  • looks great on the outside, would love to see inside too.

  • I didn't want to over invade haha, but it round with a fireplace in the middel of the house..THX dave

  • Well thanks for putting it on you tube. I am planning something similar myself, will put some videos up on my channel when I start next year. One major benefit is the freedom this life can bring. Beautiful natural home you built, little or NO mortgage. free energy from the sun, growing your own food, the fresh air............. ah It's going to be quite the journey getting there but thanks to those that have gone before me. Very inspiring.

  • Self Government and Sufficiency is key to our true freedom.

"If the American people ever allow the banks to control the issuance of their currency, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property, until their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." ~ Thomas Jefferson

  • Amen! My husband and I are planning on buying some land and building an off-the-grid, self sufficient community, hopefully in the next couple years. I'm so glad to see so many people taking the leap to get off the grid. Damn the man! It's time for a REAL change.

  • End the Fed rally November 22nd!

  • @silversobe the American people are waking up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.. due to allowing the banks to control the issuance of their currency. its a bit too late now... we are in huge losses.. the banking elite have robbed us .. we also let it happened by giving into temptations and borrowing money on interest.. purchasing properties on 30 year loans with interest.. (interest has enslaved us) and jacked the property prices up.

  • @silversobe

"End the rule of man and make all the people rich, including the poor."

    youtube, neothinkradio, tvpc.wmv

  • this is something to ponder but no township where i live would ever alow this to pass a building code. if people did start living true north strong and free alot of business would be going chapter 11

  • Hold on here. Your telling me you are going to listen to a building code instead of whats in your heart? Tell me what LAW is there that you are obligated to obey a building code?

  • you cant even build a deck or a second bathroom without a permit. in niagara falls the city can even order the colour of exterior paint.

  • Says who. What law is there that you need a permit for anything? Do you know the law or are you just repeating what others tell you and going with the flow?

  • There are heritage laws in some places (dictating the colour of paint etc), there are permits that if you don't get you can be taken to court (for extensions, any kind of renovation), and the council dictates what kind of house you are allowed to build... everything has to be registered, on paper, and signed, by you and the council... or they have the right to tear your house down.

  • That's so messed up. But it's unfortunately true. Talk to the folks in Arizona about this. They have huge battles with their inhabitants over stupid stuff like this all the time. Makes you wonder why something hasn't been done about this. Why can't the Govt just leave us alone?

  • @LogionTheos You're not. Statutes by definition are laws that only apply with the consent of the governed. They can't tell you what and how to build on your own land.

  • @LogionTheos The ordinance that gives local government the ability to send men to your house with guns and a bulldozer.

Stop being so stupid, you will just get yourself killed or jailed.

  • @James92802 Like I thought there is no law....merci

  • @James92802 the law is called a ordinance, its a civil law not criminal law.

You would not be arrested for doing the building - you would be arrested for trying to stop them from tearing it down.

  • @LogionTheos The building code.

  • it looks like a "Green" Yurt. I've always thought living off the grid will be fun, and cheap.

  • i believe that will be the way we will live in the future... probably with more solar panels and electrical use.

  • Ahhh a great place to live...unless you are native. I am Ojib, from the city, went to their Pow Wow one summer & was shocked at the bigotry in Wiarton....many non-natives stared at me in town & when I asked the owner of 3 Friends restaurant if there were issues between the natives/non...she said there was a long history...that made no sense to me...she said she oculd tell I was native but "different" ??? She could tell I was not from there?? So sad I will be honoured to view your other vids thks

  • It the same everywhere..Human are just by nature a tribe based animal

spent time around Blacks they very racist

BTW recent Genetic tests have shown that the "native Americans" decend from 5 DNA lines A/B/C/D (all found in Asia)..and one DNA line that is NOT an Asian DNA Line that was named X

Mutation rate study has shown that the X DNA came here 30,000 years ago long before the Asian lines

The X DNA line is a CAUCASIAN DNA LINE found among the Irish/Scotts

    So they are "Natives"

  • Is this house in Ontario?

  • Yes Mukwah Ontario Canada Bruce pen, just off the Ojibway resevervation....see my other films...Cape Crocker ...Organic farms ..THX Dave

  • Hard to hear the lady speaking.....she speaks so softly. Interesting.....would have liked to have seen the inside of the house......

  • Yes Mukwah she did speak softly and we were outdside, I would have loved to have seen inside but I did not want to intrude so much you understand yes , THX Dave

  • nice

  • Thank you kindly for posting this video!

  • No Prob friend THX Dave
