@quachimba Actually there was some dust, but very little. The rotor speed + the 4 blades passing over any given ground location cannot thrown down as much air as a helicopter in in a stationary location. Furthermore, the angle of airflow from the blades also contributed to a lack of direct airflow to the ground.

@2011BDmellophone The thrust also has to push it up all the time in order to keep it in the air,the dust wouldent be stright underneath it but it would pretty close at that speed/altitude,i saw no dust at all
@jackin15 A couple of things though Jackin: There's plenty of dust, especially at the end of the video and bearing in mind the quality of this video how clear do you expect it to be? And as has already been pointed out at this speed the rotors are acting more like fixed wings, the flow of air from forward motion providing lift. (At least that's my limited understanding of rotary flight!)
@staggabob There is not nearly enugh dust,that helicopter weighs between 5 to 8 tons (depending on load) with between 3400 to 4200 horsepower (depending on specific model) keeping it in the air, that is a small truck in the air,from my expiriance a blackhawk which weighs about the same would cause enugh air to move below it to throw small rocks at ground forces below (the rocks flew fast enugh to crack the windshield on a humvee)

To all the people that think of this as some sort of symbolism representing Americans as wasteful etc., please take into account what some of these men are dealing with for up to (sometimes over) a year at a time. Most people don't choose to be wasteful in their spending, but it's not like the majority of the military budget is going towards doing funny shit for youtube, it was probably just something done for them since they were in the area. @xHurrendous Almost all governments are corrupt, to an extent. It's in their nature. Why should I care? Governments are a necessary evil, and as long as I can live my life in a way that makes me happy, I'm not inclined to do anything about it.
I have never payed much attention to what the US does best, honestly, but I do know that we have better Aerospace Engineering programs. That's most likely why GE Aviation is better than Rolls-Royce.

I had 2 helicopter lessons when I lived in Holland. I didn't claim to be a pilot did I? Did you even watch the videos? They have many clips of 'copters flying low over corn fields (why isn't the corn blowing all over the place?), flying over desert (why isn't the dust blowing all over the place?) in exactly the same way this is. It is fake, its flying low the middle of the desert and is not picking up ANY sand-if it really flew that low above peole it would pin them to the group,obiously most people on youtube have never been close to a helicopter takeoff/landing.

@jackin15 just putting in my 2 cent. When something moves forward it's thrust is pushing it forward not up. So, the place you would see the dust kick up would be behind the helicopter not underneath it.

@jackin15 A couple of things though Jackin: There's plenty of dust, especially at the end of the video and bearing in mind the quality of this video how clear do you expect it to be? And as has already been pointed out at this speed the rotors are acting more like fixed wings, the flow of air from forward motion providing lift. (At least that's my limited understanding of rotary flight!)

@staggabob There is not nearly enugh dust,that helicopter weighs between 5 to 8 tons (depending on load) with between 3400 to 4200 horsepower (depending on specific model) keeping it in the air, that is a small truck in the air,from my expiriance a blackhawk which weighs about the same would cause enugh air to move below it to throw small rocks at ground forces below (the rocks flew fast enugh to crack the windshield on a humvee)
