Being into RC planes and helis, I've seen my fair share of Lipo fires, I even lost an airplane because the Speed controller tried to pull to much from the battery and it caught on fire mid air. Just as long as you maintain and follow the rules, don't cut corners, or do anything stupid you will not have any problems. Heck Lipo batters are used in every cell phone, how many of you had your phones catch on fire before?

Lipos are good they teach you to unplug you battery when its full so you don't ruin it. Let a cell phone charge to long and you lose battery life, overcharge a Lipo and you lose your house.

Can we please stop the flame-wars? Kipkay brings up valid points about the LiPo battery... It is indeed very dangerous if you do not follow instructions. Even Fuel-powered RC vehicles are safer than the RC vehicles powered by LiPo battery. Trust me, I have seen quick-charge batteries like this burn a house down just because it was left unattended. Some Lipo RC vehicle chargers do have auto shutdown circuitry if the battery goes bad or the battery is fully charged.
