  • Thank you soooo much for uploading this, one of the greatest songs ever produced in Sri Lanka...!

  • And thanks much for uploading the video

  • a classic movie song by Jothi. maybe my all time favorite.

incidentally this song was sung by Amila Nadishani,at Sirasa superstar in 2008, she did a beautiful job coached by master Khemadasa himself. (just months before his passing. )

does any one know who wrote the lyrics? is it Karunaratne Abeysekara.

  • Dear Upendra,

Thanks for upload this is one of most beautiful duets of Jothi aiya and Anjaline. During this period maestro Khemadasa approached the western style.

Of all the songs of the movie "Rosa" hit the charts.

  • You're welcome. Yes, this shows a Western influence. I love "Rosa" - that's a great performance by MS and Jothi and the actors Dommie, Piyadasa and DR.

  • What a song!

an all time classic by all means.

This is only the second time I am seeing this lovely clip after 1974 in Metro-Nugegoda as a kid :)

Many thanks Upendra for all your great efforts to bring out a high quality print of this film.

Yes, its from TB Ilangaratne's book 'Lasanda'. KAW did many films from TBI books.

Great music by Maestro to go with that scintillating vocals by Jothi/Anjalin.

    regards

  • Dear Vudhura,

Strange though that I was thinking of it in the same lines - seeing it for the 2nd time after watching it at my favorite haunt for Sinhala movies - The Metro - in 1974.

  • You're welcome. Enjoy!

Are you sure this is a book by TB? I don't remember seeing his name in the credits.

Yes, great music by the Meastro and great performance by Jothi/Anjalin.

  • @HumanFrailtz

yes upendra it was a book by TB. There were many movies done based on his books but the screenplay was mostly written by KAWP.

  • Many Thanks Upendra. As Shuaib accurately put, a long overdue! All Jothi fans would take their hats off to you :)

  • You're welcome. You've uploaded some great stuff also especially the biography of Jothipala which is very helpful.

  • Dear Upendra,

Thanks a lot for giving us this song that most of us have been waiting for so long ! What a beaut by HR and Angie and of course the Maestro Khemadasa's music. The movie I think was based on a book by T B Illangaratne - Minister of Trade for Mrs Sirimavo B. The film won acclaim at some Intl Film Festivals especially for Neeta Fernando's acting.

  • You're welcome. It's nice to see Jothi and Angie sing an original song also.

'Nedayo' was the movie based on a book by T. B. Illangaratne I think. Yes, I read that this won an award at a Soviet Film Festival but I really thought it was overly melodramatic and crude. Good songs but KAW Perera as a director isn't my thing.

  • KAW has followed the ditective-suspense style than melodramatic in my view. If you look at most of his films he has that little touch of Hitchcock -suspense style till the last minute or two (Obeysekara too followed this manner with less comedy intertwined). I think his films such as 'Duleeka', 'Hingana Kolla' and 'Lokuma Hinawa' showed this phenomenon.
