love your toroid, hard to ind them that big

your power transistor will be fine for a couple hundred volts and 10 Amps, dont worry bout the heat, heatsink it. I can run mine up to 12V easily form that 3055.

try putting leds in parrallel, I can light 10 from 1.5V

It was easy really. just got it form an old computer monitor I found in the st. the wire in a 23 g i think with just 50 turns. Will try the parralle thing but experimnet with battery charging at the mo.
