Although if you want a good laugh, you should watch this movie. Not the humor thats put into the movie, just the cornyness and overall stinkiness of it :D

I believe this movie is an acquired taste. Simply because it doesn't throw gore and cliche horror at you doesn't mean the movie was bad nor does it mean that it was a horror movie. Shyamalan chose to be different from all of the people who repeatedly teach us that vampires and werewolves and bloody clowns crawling out of sewers are all evil and simply demonstrated that true horror is in the realistic aspects of life, not the figments of a twisted imagination. I, personally, enjoyed the film.

M.Night is personally one of my favorite directors. i'm a big m.kight fan and i was dissappointed with the last ten minutes of the movie. but as people have said i think it was because i was expecting some bigger revelation you know a twist, which prob wasnt fair to knight. thinking back the happening was ok. thought it would have been a decent novel though.

i saw this movie about 2 monthes ago and the only reason why i think this movie was rated R is because they show a guy getting bit by a tiger for like 10 seconds...lame! i knew this film was going to be crap when i kept seeing trailers that kept bringing up the fact that it was rated R. also in the trailers they make it seem like it's the scariest thing u will ever see ¬¬ BS!

i dont know what to think about this movie. can´t believe, that the director of one of the most "beautiful" killing scenes (like the one in "the village" between a. brody and j.phoenix) does all the worse parts of "the happening" without intention. the dialogs, the cutting, the bad cast, the clichees... i still have hope, that there was a certain intention behind it, and i think, i gonna watch it again, just to improve. but... if not, then... this was no good movie at all.

First off, I am a fan of Shymalan's films...but this one just rubbed me the wrong way.
In my opinion, his films have gotten slightly worse than the previous one. I mean, I liked 'Unbreakable' and kinda liked the others, but like I said...each film regresses, in my opinion.
This one however, was just fricken pathetic!
So much so, that I have alternate titles for the film. 'The Not-So-Happening', 'The Sickening', 'The Sleepening' or 'The Crappening'.

First off, I am sure that you're letting your emotions make over-exaggerated statements based on your negative opinions of this movie. Yes, this wasn't nearly as good as his earlier films, such as "The Sixth Sense", "Unbreakable", "Signs", and "The Village", but you have to admit that, no matter how good of a director you are, it's really hard to top your prime, especially if you just want to make something that you feel like bringing into existence.

If you understand a little bit of filmmaking, you would know that this guy had made lost of unconceivable mistakes during the filming of this movie.

It seems like it's the new "hip" cool thing to hate this movie, regardless of how you feel about Shyamalan's past work. Some of the negative reviews from regular people sound like they are literally parroting what they have read from film critics or heard other people say. It just snowballs into this huge "hate this movie or you're not cool" thing. When I see it I hope if I like it I'll be brave enough to say so.
