  • If ?uestlove and P.Monch both had stubble and their fro's...they would look similar...but P.Monch it awesome, I'm not massively into Rap or RnB but im a big fan of Pharoah Monchs not only because hes amazingly talented but because he "makes headlines like corduroy pillows".

  • Monch is the truth. We need more rappers like this. This is coming from a man from Mississippi. A lyrical genius.

  • This WHOLE ALBUM is a fucking CLASSIC! 13 people need to do the dougie in traffic

  • what is the sample.. especially at 0:13 with the violins??? that sounds so familier... what other rap songs have that sample?? i must know...

  • This ish real!

  • "THEY" know he's got it all figured out, therefore so unknown

  • all the best socially conscious MCs like Pharoahe Monch, Tribe, etc.

were innterviewed for a book, its brilliant, so much true knowledge in it,

the boooks the one with this title :

    H . O, W ..:::: .T;O ...:..:R , A : P

  • time did.

  • 13 ppl believe in lies

  • MAN!!!!! I completely forgot about this song. This was when common was the shit. Now at days doing shit wit dat demon mister gaga... Na This is real.

  • n* were slaves freakin morons. Watch your language children are listening

  • @ComeAndGetMeScum who u talking to?

  • Common is brilliant in his verse.

  • Damn!

  • Maybe if I can understand a single word he is saying I can appreciate what everyone else sees. Until then this guy just sounds angry and is yelling at me.

  • @ThaSubzstance This is not Hip Hop & that is why this guy is a NOBODY now right?

  • @ThaSubzstance Maybe you need to suck it for them since you refer to them by their nickname. You're talking like you know me. What do you know about Hip Hop? You're only 20. I don't understand the hate. You need to reread my original post buddy. Apparently Hip Hop didn't think he knows Hip Hop because again he's a nobody. I also didn't see a disclaimer that said only people who like the artist can comment.

  • @TroyNation67 ur dissin monch, or discrediting him, i dont like it. hes my nigga, and a amazing mc if you can comprehend. and what do i know about hip hop at 20? that MONCH is nuthing to be fucked with.

  • @ThaSubzstance Wow you need a lot of growing up to do. People are allowed to have a different opinions than you. Talking like you are one day you're going to run into the wrong person. Saying I couldn't appreciate him is "dissin" or discrediting him? You need to brush that chip off your shoulder. Again a 20 y/o doesn't know Hip-Hop.

  • @slipperymidgets No it's not like that. That comparison doesn't even make sense. Way to come into a conversation a month late. Kid obviously doesn't know hip hop if this guy isn't even or ever has been relevant. I have a friend who's a DJ and when I asked him about this guy he told me to gtfo.

  • @TroyNation67 I completely agree with you on what you've said, but what has age got to do with it? Age doesn't mean knowledge and youth doesn't mean ignorance.

  • @ThaSubzstance

The truth is that you ugly, not on the outside

But in the inside on the outside you frontin you lovely

The discovery of these things and all are well-hidden

But when you in denial of self it is forbidden, that's the truth

  • hip hop will live foe eva!!!

  • great song hip hop will never die!!!

  • Aslong as there is money in the music industry, music like this will remain in the shadows and only ever heard by the true seekers of beautiful music. I feel sorry that the world hasnt been able to have a taste of such beautiful and inspirational music.

  • also, this came out in 99 :)

  • check out my site.

    pure hip hop

    illasoul.com

  • These three dudes are far too intellectual for todays general hip hop listeners, or should i say hearers. Not sure what people see in rappers who only kill the music. If you ask those people they dont even have an answer, or they will come up with some bull shit excuse. Thats just society as a whole today, not just with music, were tearing ourselves down.

  • @carayverson Intellect is way below how these three rappers spit or think. these niggas are aliens who assimilated into these dudes and bestowed upon them a gift that probably no other mc or rapper can even imagine. Gods gift if upon us when u here these fine Emcees. Big ups and respect to these dudes

  • THE 9 PEEPS THAT DISLIKE, DAMN OPEN UR DAMN EARS AND MIND UR MISSIN OUT ON SOME GOOD MUSIC....

  • this is 1999 and 9 fuckas dont see the truth i cry when i listen to this song Rest in Peace Hip hop

  • Pharoe Monchs' album was one of the most slept on. I play it from beginning to end every time I go on a road trip. It's a ritual.

  • this dope song was relesead in 1999

  • Yo real shit, this song is off the hook, beat nasty, soulfull singing nice, and all three niggas bodied this joint.

The thing I like about all three of these cats is their music has substance AND ill lyricism. Rap can't all be about skeetin' in giant assess and noodle ass dance crazes and shit.

Search Eddie Pesos "North of Death" Puerto Rock kid from PA droppin' ill joints on the mic.

  • What album is this on?

  • This song came out in 1999.

  • The best song Ever Lyrically and Musically

  • 9 people are lying...coz they don't know the truth

  • Hip-Hop is probably the most abused music genre and it's sad how most rappers today aren't taking this art form from the heart, but rather from a mentality that's all about money, women and materialistic things. And Talib Kweli is so right, the Truth will guide us in the right direction; but first you must know thyself.

  • @IBlackThought9 If material wealth is in their heart, they are representing their truth.

We live in a material society so, naturally, materialism is dominating the society. Hip Hop is a culture, not a musical genre. Rap, (along with everything else) is part of Hip Hop, 'hip-hop' is a label applied by executives looking for sales to the youth.

Sentences shouldn't begin with 'and'. Kids have materialism in their hearts, they identify the image corresponding with success. You can see the proof.

  • @57worldwide You're right; Hip Hop is definitely a culture, with rapping being a fourth of the whole. Also, using a conjunction to begin a sentence is acceptable.

  • @IBlackThought9 Thank you for replying in a dignified manner. If we can all act in a mature manner, then we shall be correct calling ourselves civilised. We will not be a civilised society while we label others.

  • @IBlackThought9 This Man Speaks The Truth Much Respect! 2U

  • Incredible song. I remember picking up this album and Mos' Black on Both Sides the same day in 99'. Great times!!

  • real HH

  • This is not hip hop, soulja boy tellem is where its at.....lol whattttt

  • all around amazing song .. thank you for liberating my ears with such purity .. im going to teach my hip hop class bout this track !!!!!! respect to love and life !

  • true say stats

  • Hip hop is a way of life Hip hop is creative. Hip hop isn't just about one group of people and their ideas and following formats it's about being different and original. Hip Hop is about us as a whole being able to relate to each other. These cats out now are too scared to be creative. Back in the day you had all types of hip hop songs now It's all about money, killing, drugs, hoes, and cars. We can't even relate to the music no more. And they wonder why cd sells are down .

  • @DashGalaxie919 its because music industry is deciding to use hip hop to brainwash people.....a certain type of people.

  • Hip-Hop is as diverse as the human race. Different cultures have different ways of speaking, they might not be as advanced, but that doesn't make them any less human. There is no real or fake, only different cultures in the Hip-Hop race.

  • @tahgleh One could argue that they are more advanced.

  • @tahgleh nowadays, artists are pulled in from the music industry & they change them to make an image that would appeal to the kids. THUS, the born of fake rappers with lyrics not even written by them. Just money makers for the industry....& a way to brainwash

  • I am sicked of these fuckin preservationists tellin you what is and what is not hip hop. "Keep it real, man, 4 elements man, we live in the past man, we keep it pure man, we real, real hip hop is underground man, we special man" --- FUCK YOU IDIOTS

  • EVERYTHING = HIP-HOP

  • N!!!!!!!!!!!!CE

  • does anybody know if this beat's sampled n where its from?

  • Know Thy Self!

  • @IBlackThought9 Cemel Dosce

  • The truth can only be expressed and felt. You cannot read about the truth, be told about the truth, you have to feel the truth.

  • how is this not hip hop.? its not "rap". maybe thats what you meant. regardless this is good.

  • niggers.

  • @iamnewhYbrid crackers

  • Damn, what album is this on? I don't think it's on itunes

  • @damorrisprodigy its on the internal affairs album near the end, currently bumpin the album in my car, i bought it 1st day it came out in 1999 and still listen to it now so it says a lot for it in todays throwaway music society

  • love me this song!!

  • amazing......just so pure and unfiltered. no auto tune, no shitty default rhymes, just pure talent, and a pure beat

  • Dont know why but for whatever I reason I had to hear this song this morning

  • @Sagefrakrobatik Dude this track is brilliant

  • the truth is that your ugly, not on the outside but in the inside,on the outside u frontn u lovely

  • this is like one of the greatest collabos at one of the greatest times in hip hop....

  • THIS SHIT IS RAW AS FUCK I SWEAR CLASSIC HIP HOP JOINT!!!!!!!!!!

  • wat album is this incredable track on?

  • @doggedoggjulle pharoahe monch....Internal Affairs.....one of the greatest underground lps

  • @agrvision Underground where the hell u been? every1 had this album when it came out LOL and everyone talked about it haha!! u must be kinda young but its ok

  • Life is like the open sea - the truth is the wind in our sails...

How real is that? A basic metaphor, yet so deep and so ill. Rick Ross couldn't tell the truth about his Law Enforcement roll, therefore, I can't believe shit he say AT ALL.

    What's the truth?

  • @HoodCoderMan The Truth about The Truth is that The Truth is True-ish.

  • @UnknownYNo True...but when truth is corrupted by what people think the true, then truth itself is no longer true, and true, truth cannot always be true because sometimes truth is only true-sih. Therefore, truth is only true to truth though truth is true when truth is truth but truth then true which is true true true true true true...which is false. Do you concur?

  • Rea Hip Hop is when they talk about life. Not girls and how i have a gun and shoot you. No it's about real things that makes sence or something you want to do. If you can do that then you well become one of the greats, a legend. Spread this message around so in the future we can live a better life with great music.

  • Seeing 93k views on this made my day.

  • Pharoahe Monch is so ill. Hes is definately is in my top 5! If you like Pharoahe Moche, then if you the time, check out my music and tell me what you think!

    One Love... HipHop!!!

  • this is the truth

  • this music has a true meaning, an essence, something that makes you think..greatings from italy...

  • i like all hiphop just because its not the hiphop you like doesn't mean its not hiphop. hip hop is like family it might be a cousin or a brother you dont get a long with its still family no matter what

  • @statsmusic

So Lil Wayne is ur retarded brother?

  • @TallToine did I say he was retarded?

  • @statsmusic Haha no you said it was all family in hiphop with some people you like, some you don't. Thought it was a good moment for a Lil Wayne joke cause in my opinion he's quite retarded. No disrespect to you whatsoever, lets enjoy this music and check pharoahe's new clip for the song Clap. Brilliant.

  • @TallToine did I say he was?

  • @statsmusic It's actually different like heavy metal, alternative, gothic are all different. Common makes hip hop music. Lil Wayne doesn't. Hip Hop and Rap are different. Gucci Mane is not hip hop

  • @HipHop226 How is lil wayne not Hip Hop? How is Gucci not HipHop???????

  • @HipHop226 How is lil wayne not Hip Hop? How is Gucci not HipHop???????

  • @statsmusic Their music isn't hip hop. I remember going to a hip hop summit I Brooklyn and Grandmaster Flash and Furious 5, Africa Bambata, Kool Herc,Suger Hill Gang were all there and they were performing and talking about hip hop and pretty much telling us what lil wayne, gucci mane and cats like that arent hip hop, arent making hip hop music. They are not hip hop because the creators said they are not hip hop, thats why

  • @HipHop226 You said the creators pretty much told you that they were not hip hop. Did they actually say that or are you putting words in their mouths? Be careful, and did they actually say Lil Wayne and Gucci. Again are you putting words in their mouths or did they actually say that?

    Once again be careful

  • @statsmusic They were naming names b. Wayne,Gucci Mane,Jim Jones. Kool Herc was saying big labels trying to force that bullshit down our throats threw radio and calling that hip hop and those dudes are not hip hop. What they talking about and representing isnt hip hop.

  • @statsmusic

    tell em holmes

  • @borchabronx its hard to explain to people who dont know hiphop

  • @statsmusic yes but the family is seperating, they dont help each other.

  • @persiandagh each and one are losing their culture..

  • @persiandagh what are you talking about? Every time you hear a song it has a feature on it so how are they not helping each other?

  • @statsmusic

So I guess 50 Cent is a long distant cousin

  • @AfroVibez hey family is family

  • Real Hip Hop saw the Illuminati coming after it, so she went underground and let these mainstream faggots sell their souls!!! You want real Hip Hop, resort to the Underground, real talk!!!! She still alive yal.....

  • 7 people can't recognize the truth

  • THIS SONG IS DOPE> SHOUT OUT FROM WINNIPEG CANADA!!!!

  • so good

  • clássico dos clássicos...me arrepio dos pés a cabeça..louco muito louco esse som...escuatr só no talo...

    MUTIO FODAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

  • Common baby, a modern day poet. If there was one rapper i wish i could spit like it would be common, dude is such a poet its ridiculous.

  • if you are one of the 5 who dislike this you don't deserve ears.

  • All hale REAL HIP HOP and all of it's fans... Love yall

  • aite seems to me pharoahe tried to hard to seem poetic, common murdered it lyrics simply put with so much substance fuckin beautiful. dont get me wrong internal affairs is in my top 10 show no mercy behind closed doors hell rape right here simon says are fuckin classics but pharoahe coulda put it together beter

  • Just got turned onto this cat recently and I have to say I am so glad. Between him Talib and Mos I almost don't need any other Hip Hop in my playlists.

  • "Truth brings light, light refracts off the mirror

Visions of yourself and error could never be clearer

The truth is that you ugly, not on the outside

But in the inside on the outside you frontin you lovely"

pharoahe monch is too fuckin nice.

  • 10 Stars.

  • Wow, I remember when I was doing Basic Training in 2000 and this was the only thing I got to enjoy each day... Love this song!
