Hey People all to their own, I am an Australia/Brit in Japan and run a pie company, we make Australian/British Pie, but trust me they are NOTHING like the pies from Australia or the UK as the recipes have been changed to suit the taste buds of the Japanese, I also make and sell pastys and they have also been changed to suit Japanese. No recipe is set in stone. Give the lady a break and stop being picky arseholes!
A true Cornish pasty is crimped down the side!! This was so the miners could hold the pasty by the crust with there mucky hands keeping the pasty clean for eating then they would throw the crust away. Also traditionally you use skirt not rump and this obviously not Cornish person has also missed out a key ingredient... Turnip!!!! doh! and yes I'm Cornish so I can comment lol my Dad was even a Cornish tin miner!! :)
Ingredients shouldn't be mixed, For a traditional pasty you layer diced potato, diced swede (turnip) chopped onion and skirt beef into small dice, season with salt and black pepper
not even close to a cornish pasty , theres no swede(turnip as the cornish would say). should use skirt not rump and that is not crimped and it should be on the side as the miners used this as a handle and would throw it awaty after as it would be covered it dirt from there hands . the only place you mite see one like for sale would be in a petrol station next to ginsters sausage rolls , what a load of shit at least do some research befor making such a crap video.
Ahhh I love that Cornish accent! What? No turnip you say?! Oh Rump not skirt? And crimp down the middle! Yep this women definitely knows her stuff, must be born and bred.....
I am Navajo Indian from Arizona and I appreciate the people from Cornwell critique's about the proper way to make Cornish Pasties. I understand the importance of preparing certain recipes to way the local people should prepare it. Thanks again for your comments.
sorry to say it ... but this doesnt look like a cornish pasty ... i am from cornwall .. what you have made there is the northan version of what they think is a pasty :-D

yes the Cornish do love a good pasty and this is not it, no swede and you should use skirt beef not rump and not crimp on top!

Take no notice this is probably an emmit with bad technique and incorrect ingredients.

thats not a Cornish pasty thats a joke

Beef skirt instead of Rump. Miners wives used the cheaper cuts, plus skirt has the fat which gives the pasty it's gravy. Wot no turnip!

Not british, its cornish.
You don't use butter in pasty pastry, you use lard
goes in the fridge over night
everything goes in layers, not together
Thats not crimping.
