  • Madhubala is just so pretty!!! lovely song by lata & rafi !

  • Comment removed

  • This was a great movie for Madhubala fans :-) I love this song because the camera closeups are just great. I just sit here sighing.....

  • Superb tune, excellent poetry, fantastic acting and overall complete extibition of TRUE ART.

  • very nce song madhubala ka jawab nahi tha?????????????/

  • SUPERB--AJAY HORA

  • Gair bhi to koi hasin hoga, dil yuhin to na de diya hoga, dekh kar kuchh to chot kha baithe.

  • i personally like bharat bhaushan great man and a very talented actor so to say that bharat bhaushan and madhubala are matchless is kinda stupid

  • Madhubala's expressions and acting is so so natural!

  • This song makes me cry. Its so sad.

  • Despite hearing this song endless times, every time I hear again has it's freshness

as if it is new. There lies the greatness of the music directors of that era. There can be no another Madan Mohan and so is true for Shanker jaikishen,Naushad and S D Burman and countless others.

  • What a song. Madhubala is great beautiful amazing and no words can describe her. She bring life into any song. God made her by his own hands. She was loved till death by another great kishore kumar and we the world are still adoring her.

    kn chowdhury

  • what a voice of Mohammad Rafi and lata....

  • A very very lovely song. Such music is very rare and goes straight into one's heart. Does any one has Hemant Kumar's non filmi ghazal " kya qayamat hai ki barsaat mein ghar jalta hai, ashq aankhon se rawan aur jigar jalta hai". I will be obliged if someone uploads the same on youtube.

  • matchless Madhubala and Bharat Bhushan!!

  • wow amazing....there are countless old songs that I like but only few whose video is equally great, this is one of them.

  • Thanks Bhai Rohan1053 you understand my point I am not insulting Punjabi peoples in Great India we have more culture than only one and they all very colorful those people are very professionals with filling of arts unfortunately they have not enough money and power.= in Pakistan we saw when the Punjabis takeover the film industry the industry destroyed completely same happened to the country ==every body have his own capacity

  • beautiful song we love this song-- nadeem

  • Wah re wah what a beautiful time was that now a days film industry have no any story no dialogs no desi music no more good actor and actress No good singer not more good writers all rubbish all convert in Punjabi culture and mentality

  • This song is sung by a Punjabi& at tht time al gud actors and actreses blngd to Pjb, Raj kapoor& family,Dev Anand, Rafi.,K.L Sehgal,Rajinder Kumar,Dharminder,Yash Chopra,Ramanand Sagar,Chetan Anand,Jatender,B.R Chopra,Sukwinder Singh,Sanjay Dutt,Akshay,Om Puri.Amrish Puri,Gulzar& list is endless

& Pbi music was best & is best at least in Ind if nt in whl world& shame on u tht u say smethng about Pbi culture which isda richest in whl world So pls thk twice whn u say nythng abt Punjabi culture.

  • @corporate08 the point you missed is inspite of punjabi people involved in film industry at that time , the story / literature , theme & content was Hindi / Urdu & the music was classical . What you see now is pure punjabi culture , music & story line which is nothing but materialistic , vulgar & trash . I agree with fahad & the point he is trying to make.

  • @Rohan1053& fahad100..I agree that theme was Hindi..But i am not agree what you wanna say about Punjabi culture...vulgar and trash??.what you mean?...you must be kidding..

I am a Punjabi and i know how rich our culture is..I am proud of it.If you come to Punjab& u'll see how

hardworking, respectful, friendly, intelligent and fun loving people we are.I 've visited South and East India& i know the difference in hospitality and mankind from my beautiful Punjab.Just visit Fahad & Rohan u will know !

  • no culture is bigger or beyond one upbringing.be human love first yourself and expect the same form others

  • @fahad100 Vvery well said Fahad bhai , now a days there is vulgarity , no class , no depth . Sad to see the state of film industry after those golden years . The taste of young generation is horrible , all bullshit . They like refined oil more than Desi ghee , this tells their class & IQ level . No wonder we get movies like this now ..

  • Ek dil hi tha ghamgusaar apna

    Meherbaan khaas raazdaar apna

Ghair ka kyun usay bana baithaye

Do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithe

    Ghair bhito koi hassen hoga

    Dil yuhin deydiya nahin hoga

dekh kar kuchto chot kha bethaye

Dighadi wo jo paas aa baithay

Hum zamane se duur ja baithaye

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE ALL TIME GREAT SONGS! ENJOY, JUST ENJOY!

  • Do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithay

Hum zamane se duur ja baithaye

Dil wohi dil jo dil mein ja baithaye

Do ghadi woh jo paas aa baithaye

  • yes the song is written by rajindar krishna. this is a sweet duet however bharat bhushan is unmatched with angel madhubala.

  • wonderful and one of the best duets of lata-rafi but everyone seems to have forgotten the lyricist who made this immortal creation possible .i think it is rajinder krishan . plz can anyone confirm ?

  • yre right friend ..its sheer magic...

  • thanks

  • heart touching duet.

  • One thing that did justify the immortal numbers of melodies in this movie, was udoubtedly the super song directions. Just see the sponteneously super expressions to match each words of the lyric............

  • This is just one of the FINESTS of Madan's creation. The other number of this same film "...Sapne main sajan se...

is even greater in heights......And the superbly natural, acting and EXPRESSION of these two well directed actors is all joy to keep wathcing enjoying the sequence repeatedly along with this FABULOUS MELODY.

  • this is for raqib56.: best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness to an opponent tolerance to a friend yr DILdil a child a good example to a father Izzat to your mother conduct that would make her proud of u; to yrself RESPECT to all humanity, charity.

our common bond is heavenly old music, PURANI YADAEN & sarbada bhala. i have tears of happiness in my eyes, quite often, when i am emersed in such melodies & immortal actors like Madhubala, who belong to the whole world.

  • We do not wish to see the use of such disgusting language on YouTube or anywhere else for that matter.

  • What did you find digusting here in the language of any comments, Kayessque? Hope you understand the language well.

  • Believe you me, there is absolutely no deficiency in my command/understanding of the language! I am so glad you took the time to seek out the offending comments. Otherwise, one might have been tempted to retort by saying "Look before you leap, my friend". I am delighted that you agree the this chippie who calls himself "reality indian" is a delusional nutter! Have a good day!

  • OK, Kayessque I read the comments further down made by this NUT "reality indian" and YES THEY ALL MUST BE REMOVED. It is disgusting to see even such comments are published in the name of FREEDOM OF SPEECH. IT IS OUTREGEOUS.

  • kitaabik,

thanks for such a beautiful song,

I have just pinched one of your favorites,

    guess which one ?

  • KAMAL KAMAL KAMAL kya kamal hay MADAN MAHAAN KA with the courtesy of LATA JI AND MOHAMMAD RAFI SAAB 03332604292

  • "realityindian" you are a disgrace. Your comments put all decent Indians - no not just Indians but humanity generally - to shame. keep your disgusting language to yourself.

  • Bharat Bhushan is acting kind of feminine in his expressions.

  • this is meant for raqib56. i am very sad to read such language being used by a music lover, whatever the provocation. This is especially so when I happened to read his beautiful comments on one song Sapne Me Sajan Se Do Baten of Gateway of India, which was seen by me just before I heard this immoretal song. A true music lover is a forgiver & not an avenger. Good poetry (raqib56's forte) & good music is ALLAH ki IBADAT.

  • vngautam ji,

Thanks for your kind words & sympathy,

  • Abbu boht sakht yaad aa raha hen un k death ho gay ha na aur me away fr my house.woh purana songs sunta thay

  • Is this song based on raga Bhagyashree ?

  • @CleopatraUK

Possible! I know the raag is called 'Baageshree' or Baageshwari'! The numbers i am sure which are based on Raag baageshri are 'Rasik Balmaa' and,'Tera Jaana ,dil ke armanon ka' and several others ! It is possible this too is based on some aspects of Bageshri

  • What a CONFIDENT answer "Gair bhi to koi hasin hoga, dil yuhin to na de diya hoga......" to the complaint on loosing heart saying "... ek dil hi tha gum gushar apnaa...........gair ka kyun use banaa baithe....."

    Ranjit

  • I agree the word play employed between the Madhubala & Bharat Bhushan is simply superb. Such loaded melodies don't come but very rarely. Have we lost a thirst for such compositions presently or what? Is present generation so much different from us in that respect? Thanks to Kitaabik ji for uploading such a gem

  • One of the TOP CLASS duet of Madan......

  • All nice things under one umbrella. Hats of to all,

  • Of course, of course...........and also look at the acting how natural, authentic even in the simple mode...........those were the days.................indeed.

  • mashALLAH

  • feels like heaven especially with lata mangeshkar's amzing voice when she was young. This is what heaven sounds like.

  • The amazing Madhubala.

Beauty ,innocence ,and a childlike mischief all in one ; surely God must have had loads of time and defintely must have been in his happiest moods.

  • Dedicated to "DEVI JI & VINOD BHAI "

  • What a classic song and thanks a million for this song...

  • Timelessss....

  • First, Brahmajee created the most beautiful smile. Then he took his own time to create Madhubala to fit the smile. She makes me feel wanting to fall in love all over again.

  • Mesmerising Madhu Bala, great composition, amazing poetry, legendry Rafi n Lata! What a combination!!!! Could'nt be any better!!!

  • Thanks for posting this rare video - it is sheer pleasure to watch Madhubals's lovely smile while listening to this haunting melody by Madan Mohan ji.

  • mesmerizing composition by Madan Mohan!

  • nandu1fji: Good to hear from you. Yes I do remeber "Purane Filmon ke Geet" and "Abhi to Mein Jawan Hoon..." program. Interesting that you have the movie version with this song. My recently bought VCD version of the movie does not have this song in there. Yes there is a sequence of the seen as you described but not the song. The cover of the VCD too has not listed this song so I thought it was edited out at the time before release as it happens in many movies. Are you in U.S.?

  • Mehtaji, I am not skilled in using various features of YouTube, therefore the delay in replying. I don't have the movie version of the song "Sapneme' sajanse", but have seen the movie with the song scene. Good to know your heart string strum the same way with these old masterpieces. Yes, I am in Corpus Christi, Texas.

  • Good to hear from you. The video version I have is without the song. You are luck you had seen the version with the song before it was edited out.

Wish there is more time in life at the late age to share and enjoy such great music with equal minded people. At least we should be able to keep in touch on and off via e-mail.

  • RMehtacpaji, Remember the Radio Ceylone program "Puraane Filmon' ke Geet", which used Lata's unforgettable melody "Abhi to' Mein Jawan Huun" as program signature? They played the best haunting melodies that time of the night. "Sapne me Sajan se Do Baate" is difficult song to sing, made for Lata to stir emotions. In the movie, the song played on a gramophone is churning the heart of the tough goonda Om Prakash. I am not a goonda, but the song does churn my heart? Any one else?

  • Pardon me. Just one point. The 'Purane Filmon ke Geet' program was at 7:30 AM each day and did not have a signature tune. Remember, it used to end with a Saigal number? The program with the signature tune that you mention was 'Hamesha Jawan geet' - a 80 minutes program on Sunday nights. Wow! what programs they were and what melodies that were played in them! I used to clutch my transistor radio for all of those 80 minutes savoring every moment. Thanks for triggering those unforgettable moments!

  • YouTube experience has elightened me to the fact that so many others also have such intense affection for the music of those years. I am not alone. Good to read all these honest comments while enjoying these immortal songs.

  • Best..

  • To me, any scene with Madhu in it is a gem, and of course it helps that so often Lataji sings songs for her. As for BB , let's not disparage him. He starred with the best-- Madhu, Meena Kumari,Nimmi,Nutan, Suchitra Sen,etc. Clearly , producers and diretors knew his worth as a talented actor. Even in a cameo appearance as a music ustad in Umrao Jaan, 1981, BB left a lasting impression on viewers like me. Thanks for the post, kitaabik.

  • @chamogaa i absoulutley agree bharat bhaushan is one of my favorites he was a really talented actor i don't understand y someone would say he is matchless to beautiful madhubala

  • @chamogaa you are absoulty right, who knows To recognise Man.

  • no other women can match her natural smile. even now.:)

  • Can anyone post the video song for "Sapne me sajan se do baate..."for Gateway of India? Another immartal song besides the "Do ghadi wo jo paas.."

  • The song "Sapne me sajan se....., another gem was itself edited out of the movie. Unfortunately we only have to be content with listning to audio version at best. I remember the song since announcer Gopal Sharma used to play it in the last session of the evening(10pm to 10.30pm)program from Radio Cyelon as "Meri Pasand" that is announcer's favourites.....to listen to the song in late evening coming from far Radio Ceylon was some charm.........

• Lyrics of Rajindra Krishan i think.

Kash uploader title mein movie name likhna shuru kar day to movie name song kay sath hi save ho jayay karay..warna log bhool jatay hain.

  • Those days known for rich lyrics and melodious tunes. This song is not exception.

  • One can listen to this gem any number of times! And that scene steeler that we call Madhu !!!

    Kanwal

  • you mean "scebe stealer" not "steeler".

  • How can you take eyes of Madhubala? O please tell me tell me please. I am stuck.

  • most charming.thanks

  • The use of the sitar and the flute as a counter-point to Lata and Rafi is brilliant. The melody and the instrumentation simply pulls the voices along effortlessly. The voices are the ultimate icing on the cake.

  • bharat bhushan nira dhakan lagda ae ....

    awesome though ....

  • Sahab, aap Bharat Bhushan ko kyun dekhte hain ismein, us pari ko dekhiye jinka koi misaal nahin.
