wonderful and one of the best duets of lata-rafi but everyone seems to have forgotten the lyricist who made this immortal creation possible .i think it is rajinder krishan . plz can anyone confirm ?
One thing that did justify the immortal numbers of melodies in this movie, was udoubtedly the super song directions. Just see the sponteneously super expressions to match each words of the lyric............

First, Brahmajee created the most beautiful smile. Then he took his own time to create Madhubala to fit the smile. She makes me feel wanting to fall in love all over again.
Thanks for posting this rare video - it is sheer pleasure to watch Madhubals's lovely smile while listening to this haunting melody by Madan Mohan ji.
nandu1fji: Good to hear from you. Yes I do remeber "Purane Filmon ke Geet" and "Abhi to Mein Jawan Hoon..." program. Interesting that you have the movie version with this song. My recently bought VCD version of the movie does not have this song in there. Yes there is a sequence of the seen as you described but not the song. The cover of the VCD too has not listed this song so I thought it was edited out at the time before release as it happens in many movies. Are you in U.S.?
Mehtaji, I am not skilled in using various features of YouTube, therefore the delay in replying. I don't have the movie version of the song "Sapneme' sajanse", but have seen the movie with the song scene. Good to know your heart string strum the same way with these old masterpieces. Yes, I am in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Good to hear from you. The video version I have is without the song. You are luck you had seen the version with the song before it was edited out.
Wish there is more time in life at the late age to share and enjoy such great music with equal minded people. At least we should be able to keep in touch on and off via e-mail.
RMehtacpaji, Remember the Radio Ceylone program "Puraane Filmon' ke Geet", which used Lata's unforgettable melody "Abhi to' Mein Jawan Huun" as program signature? They played the best haunting melodies that time of the night. "Sapne me Sajan se Do Baate" is difficult song to sing, made for Lata to stir emotions. In the movie, the song played on a gramophone is churning the heart of the tough goonda Om Prakash. I am not a goonda, but the song does churn my heart? Any one else?
Pardon me. Just one point. The 'Purane Filmon ke Geet' program was at 7:30 AM each day and did not have a signature tune. Remember, it used to end with a Saigal number? The program with the signature tune that you mention was 'Hamesha Jawan geet' - a 80 minutes program on Sunday nights. Wow! what programs they were and what melodies that were played in them! I used to clutch my transistor radio for all of those 80 minutes savoring every moment. Thanks for triggering those unforgettable moments!
YouTube experience has elightened me to the fact that so many others also have such intense affection for the music of those years. I am not alone. Good to read all these honest comments while enjoying these immortal songs.
To me, any scene with Madhu in it is a gem, and of course it helps that so often Lataji sings songs for her. As for BB , let's not disparage him. He starred with the best-- Madhu, Meena Kumari,Nimmi,Nutan, Suchitra Sen,etc. Clearly , producers and diretors knew his worth as a talented actor. Even in a cameo appearance as a music ustad in Umrao Jaan, 1981, BB left a lasting impression on viewers like me. Thanks for the post, kitaabik.
@chamogaa i absoulutley agree bharat bhaushan is one of my favorites he was a really talented actor i don't understand y someone would say he is matchless to beautiful madhubala
The song "Sapne me sajan se....., another gem was itself edited out of the movie. Unfortunately we only have to be content with listning to audio version at best. I remember the song since announcer Gopal Sharma used to play it in the last session of the evening(10pm to 10.30pm)program from Radio Cyelon as "Meri Pasand" that is announcer's favourites.....to listen to the song in late evening coming from far Radio Ceylon was some charm.........
RMehtacpaji, Remember the Radio Ceylone program "Puraane Filmon' ke Geet", which used Lata's unforgettable melody "Abhi to' Mein Jawan Huun" as program signature? The use of the sitar and the flute as a counter-point to Lata and Rafi is brilliant. The melody and the instrumentation simply pulls the voices along effortlessly. The voices are the ultimate icing on the cake.
Madhubala is just so pretty!!! lovely song by lata & rafi !

nandu1fji: Good to hear from you.

Can anyone post the video song for "Sapne me sajan se do baate..."for Gateway of India? Another immartal song besides the "Do ghadi wo jo paas.."
nandu1f 3 years ago
The song "Sapne me sajan se....., another gem was itself edited out of the movie. Unfortunately we only have to be content with listning to audio version at best. I remember the song since announcer Gopal Sharma used to play it in the last session of the evening(10pm to 10.30pm)program from Radio Cyelon as "Meri Pasand" that is announcer's favourites.....to listen to the song in late evening coming from far Radio Ceylon was some charm.........

The use of the sitar and the flute as a counter-point to Lata and Rafi is brilliant. The melody and the instrumentation simply pulls the voices along effortlessly. The voices are the ultimate icing on the cake.
